Setting Up the Lamps

¹The Lord said to Moses, ²“Speak to Aaron and say to him, ‘When you set up the lamps, see that all seven light up the area in front of the lampstand.’ ”
³Aaron did so; he set up the lamps so that they faced forward on the lampstand, just as the Lord commanded Moses. ⁴This is how the lampstand was made: It was made of hammered gold—from its base to its blossoms. The lampstand was made exactly like the pattern the Lord had shown Moses.

The Setting Apart of the Levites

⁵The Lord said to Moses: ⁶“Take the Levites from among all the Israelites and make them ceremonially clean. ⁷To purify them, do this: Sprinkle the water of cleansing on them; then have them shave their whole bodies and wash their clothes. And so they will purify themselves. ⁸Have them take a young bull with its grain offering of the finest flour mixed with olive oil; then you are to take a second young bull for a sin offering.⚓ ⁹Bring the Levites to the front of the tent of meeting and assemble the whole Israelite community. ¹⁰You are to bring the Levites before the Lord, and the Israelites are to lay their hands on them. ¹¹Aaron is to present the Levites before the Lord as a wave offering from the Israelites, so that they may be ready to do the work of the Lord.
¹²“Then the Levites are to lay their hands on the heads of the bulls, using one for a sin offering to the Lord and the other for a burnt offering, to make atonement for the Levites. ¹³Have the Levites stand in front of Aaron and his sons and then present them as a wave offering to the Lord. ¹⁴In this way you are to set the Levites apart from the other Israelites, and the Levites will be mine.
¹⁵“After you have purified the Levites and presented them as a wave offering, they are to come to do their work at the tent of meeting. ¹⁶They are the Israelites who are to be given wholly to me. I have taken them as my own in place of the firstborn, the first male offspring from every Israelite woman. ¹⁷Every firstborn male in Israel, whether human or animal, is mine. When I struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, I set them apart for myself. ¹⁸And I have taken the Levites in place of all the firstborn sons in Israel. ¹⁹From among all the Israelites, I have given the Levites as gifts to Aaron and his sons to do the work at the tent of meeting on behalf of the Israelites and to make atonement for them so that no plague will strike the Israelites when they go near the sanctuary.”
²⁰Moses, Aaron and the whole Israelite community did with the Levites just as the Lord commanded Moses. ²¹The Levites purified themselves and washed their clothes. Then Aaron presented them as a wave offering before the Lord and made atonement for them to purify them. ²²After that, the Levites came to do their work at the tent of meeting under the supervision of Aaron and his sons. They did with the Levites just as the Lord commanded Moses.
²³The Lord said to Moses, ²⁴“This applies to the Levites: Men twenty-five years old or more shall come to take part in the work at the tent of meeting, ²⁵but at the age of fifty, they must retire from their regular service and work no longer. ²⁶They may assist their brothers in performing their duties at the tent of meeting, but they themselves must not do the work. This, then, is how you are to assign the responsibilities of the Levites.”

Chân đèn bảy ngọn

¹Đức Giê-hô-va phán với Môi-se:⚓ ²“Hãy bảo A-rôn rằng: Khi sắp xếp cây đèn thì phải cho bảy ngọn đèn chiếu sáng phía trước chân đèn.” ³A-rôn làm đúng như vậy; ông đặt bảy ngọn đèn chiếu sáng phía trước chân đèn như Đức Giê-hô-va đã truyền phán với Môi-se. ⁴Chân đèn được làm bằng vàng dát mỏng từ đế đèn cho đến các hoa đèn. Người ta làm chân đèn đúng theo kiểu mẫu Đức Giê-hô-va đã chỉ dẫn Môi-se.

Người Lê-vi được biệt riêng cho Chúa

⁵Đức Giê-hô-va phán với Môi-se: ⁶“Hãy biệt riêng người Lê-vi khỏi dân Y-sơ-ra-ên và làm lễ thanh tẩy họ. ⁷Đây là cách con thanh tẩy họ: Hãy rảy nước thanh tẩy trên họ; bảo họ dùng dao cạo sạch toàn thân, giặt quần áo và dọn mình cho thanh sạch. ⁸Sau đó, bảo họ bắt một con bò đực cùng với tế lễ chay bằng bột lọc nhồi dầu, rồi con phải bắt một con bò đực tơ thứ nhì dùng làm tế lễ chuộc tội. ⁹Con phải bảo người Lê-vi đến trước Lều Hội Kiến và họp cả hội chúng Y-sơ-ra-ên lại. ¹⁰Khi con trình diện người Lê-vi trước Đức Giê-hô-va, dân Y-sơ-ra-ên sẽ đặt tay trên người Lê-vi. ¹¹A-rôn sẽ trình diện người Lê-vi như một tế lễ đưa qua đưa lại của dân Y-sơ-ra-ên trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va để họ sẵn sàng phục vụ Đức Giê-hô-va. ¹²Người Lê-vi sẽ đặt tay trên đầu hai con bò đực và con phải dâng một con làm tế lễ chuộc tội, một con làm tế lễ thiêu cho Đức Giê-hô-va để chuộc tội cho người Lê-vi. ¹³Kế đó, con hãy bảo người Lê-vi đứng trước mặt A-rôn và các con trai người rồi dâng họ như một tế lễ đưa qua đưa lại cho Đức Giê-hô-va.
¹⁴Như vậy, con sẽ biệt riêng người Lê-vi khỏi dân Y-sơ-ra-ên và người Lê-vi sẽ thuộc về Ta. ¹⁵Sau khi con đã thanh tẩy và dâng người Lê-vi như một tế lễ đưa qua đưa lại, họ sẽ đến phục vụ tại Lều Hội Kiến. ¹⁶Vì người Lê-vi đã được dâng trọn cho Ta từ giữa dân Y-sơ-ra-ên; Ta đã chọn lấy họ cho Ta thế cho tất cả con đầu lòng của dân Y-sơ-ra-ên. ¹⁷Mọi con đầu lòng của dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đều thuộc về Ta, bất luận người hay vật. Ta đã biệt riêng họ cho Ta trong ngày Ta hình phạt mọi con đầu lòng tại Ai Cập⚓ ¹⁸và Ta đã chọn người Lê-vi thế cho mọi con đầu lòng của dân Y-sơ-ra-ên. ¹⁹Từ giữa Y-sơ-ra-ên, Ta đã ban người Lê-vi cho A-rôn và các con trai người để làm công việc của dân Y-sơ-ra-ên trong Lều Hội Kiến, cùng làm lễ chuộc tội cho dân Y-sơ-ra-ên hầu cho họ sẽ không gặp tai họa nào khi đến gần nơi thánh.”
²⁰Vậy Môi-se, A-rôn và cả hội chúng Y-sơ-ra-ên làm cho người Lê-vi mọi điều Đức Giê-hô-va đã phán dặn Môi-se. ²¹Người Lê-vi tự tẩy sạch mình và giặt áo quần, rồi A-rôn dâng họ như tế lễ đưa qua đưa lại trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va và làm lễ chuộc tội để họ được thanh tẩy. ²²Sau đó, người Lê-vi đến làm công việc mình trong Lều Hội Kiến dưới sự giám sát của A-rôn và các con trai ông. Người ta làm cho người Lê-vi đúng như Đức Giê-hô-va đã phán về họ qua Môi-se.
²³Đức Giê-hô-va phán với Môi-se: ²⁴“Đây là những quy định về người Lê-vi: Từ hai mươi lăm tuổi trở lên, người Lê-vi phải đến tham gia vào công việc nơi Lều Hội Kiến. ²⁵Nhưng đến năm mươi tuổi, họ sẽ nghỉ, không làm việc nữa. ²⁶Họ có thể phụ giúp anh em mình trong Lều Hội Kiến, nhưng chính họ không đảm trách công việc nữa. Đó là cách con phân chia trách nhiệm cho người Lê-vi.”
