1Then Solomon began to build the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the Lord had appeared to his father David. It was on the threshing floor of Araunah⚓ the Jebusite, the place provided by David. 2He began building on the second day of the second month in the fourth year of his reign. 3The foundation Solomon laid for building the temple of God was sixty cubits long and twenty cubits wide⚓ (using the cubit of the old standard). 4The portico at the front of the temple was twenty cubits⚓ long across the width of the building and twenty⚓ cubits high. He overlaid the inside with pure gold. 5He paneled the main hall with juniper and covered it with fine gold and decorated it with palm tree and chain designs. 6He adorned the temple with precious stones. And the gold he used was gold of Parvaim. 7He overlaid the ceiling beams, doorframes, walls and doors of the temple with gold, and he carved cherubim on the walls. 8He built the Most Holy Place, its length corresponding to the width of the temple—twenty cubits long and twenty cubits wide. He overlaid the inside with six hundred talents⚓ of fine gold. 9The gold nails weighed fifty shekels.⚓ He also overlaid the upper parts with gold. 10For the Most Holy Place he made a pair of sculptured cherubim and overlaid them with gold. 11The total wingspan of the cherubim was twenty cubits. One wing of the first cherub was five cubits⚓ long and touched the temple wall, while its other wing, also five cubits long, touched the wing of the other cherub. 12Similarly one wing of the second cherub was five cubits long and touched the other temple wall, and its other wing, also five cubits long, touched the wing of the first cherub. 13The wings of these cherubim extended twenty cubits. They stood on their feet, facing the main hall.⚓ 14He made the curtain of blue, purple and crimson yarn and fine linen, with cherubim worked into it. 15For the front of the temple he made two pillars, which together were thirty-five cubits⚓ long, each with a capital five cubits high. 16He made interwoven chains⚓ and put them on top of the pillars. He also made a hundred pomegranates and attached them to the chains. 17He erected the pillars in the front of the temple, one to the south and one to the north. The one to the south he named Jakin⚓ and the one to the north Boaz.⚓

1Vua Sa-lô-môn bắt đầu xây đền thờ CHÚA tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, trên núi Mô-ri-a, là nơi CHÚA đã hiện ra với vua cha Đa-vít; người đã chỉ định nơi này, tức là sân đạp lúa của Ọt-nan người Giê-bu-sít. 2Vua khởi công xây cất vào ngày hai tháng hai năm thứ tư dưới thời trị vì của mình. 3Đây là nền vua Sa-lô-môn xây cho đền thờ Đức Chúa Trời, theo thước đo cũ, chiều dài 27m,⚓ chiều rộng 9m.⚓4Tiền đường ở phía trước, dài 9m, bằng chiều rộng của đền thờ, cao 9m⚓ phía trong dát vàng ròng. 5Đại sảnh đường được lót bằng gỗ bá hương, dát vàng tốt và có chạm hình cây chà là và vòng xích. 6Vua cũng trang hoàng đền thờ bằng đá quí và vàng dùng là vàng Phạt-va-im. 7Vua dát vàng khắp đền thờ, xà ngang, khung cửa, tường, cửa và chạm hình chê-ru-bim trên tường. 8Vua xây nơi chí thánh, chiều dài bằng chiều rộng của đền thờ, 9m vuông vức mỗi chiều; vua dùng đến 21 tấn⚓ vàng tốt để dát phòng. 9Các đinh bằng vàng nặng nửa kí;⚓ vua cũng dát vàng các phòng lầu. 10Trong nơi chí thánh vua làm hai chê-ru-bim, là hai vật điêu khắc bọc vàng. 11Các cánh của chê-ru-bim dài tổng cộng 9m, mỗi cánh dài 2.25m. Một cánh của chê-ru-bim chạm một tường của đền thờ, còn cánh kia, dài 2.25m, đụng cánh của chê-ru-bim kia. 12Một cánh của chê-ru-bim này dài 2.25m, chạm tường kia của đền thờ, còn cánh kia, cũng dài 2.25m, đụng cánh của chê-ru-bim kia. 13Các cánh của hai chê-ru-bim này xòe ra dài 9m; chúng đứng trên chân mình, mặt hướng về sảnh đường. 14Vua cũng làm các màn bằng vải xanh, tím, đỏ thẳm, vải gai mịn và thêu hình chê-ru-bim lên trên. 15Trước đền thờ vua xây hai trụ cao 16m;⚓ trên đỉnh mỗi trụ có một đầu trụ cao 2.25m.⚓16Vua làm các vòng xích dây chuyền,⚓ treo trên đầu các trụ; người làm một trăm trái lựu, gắn vào các vòng xích ấy. 17Vua dựng các trụ trước đền thờ, một bên phải và một bên trái; trụ bên phải người gọi là Gia-kin và trụ bên trái là Bô-ách.
