The New Priestly Service

¹Now this is the main point of the things we are saying: We have such a High Priest, ⚓who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, ²a Minister of ⚓the sanctuary and of ⚓the true tabernacle which the Lord erected, and not man.
³For ⚓every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore ⚓it is necessary that this One also have something to offer. ⁴For if He were on earth, He would not be a priest, since there are priests who offer the gifts according to the law; ⁵who serve ⚓the copy and ⚓shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle. For He said, ⚓“See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.” ⁶But now ⚓He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a ⚓better covenant, which was established on better promises.

A New Covenant

⁷For if that ⚓first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second. ⁸Because finding fault with them, He says: ⚓“Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— ⁹not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the LORD. ¹⁰For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the ⚓Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and ⚓I will be their God, and they shall be My people. ¹¹⚓None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, ‘Know the ⚓Lord,’ for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. ¹²For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, ⚓and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”
¹³⚓In that He says, “A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

Thầy Tế lễ tối cao đời đời

¹Chủ điểm của đề tài đang trình bày là chúng ta có Thầy Tế lễ vô cùng cao quý, tức Chúa Cứu Thế đang ngồi bên phải ngai Thượng Đế uy nghiêm trên Thiên đàng. ²Ngài thi hành chức tế lễ tại Nơi Chí thánh trong Đền thờ thật, do chính Chúa dựng nên, không do loài người xây cất.
³Nhiệm vụ các thầy Tế lễ tối cao là hiến dâng lễ vật và sinh tế lên Thượng Đế, nên Chúa Cứu Thế cũng đã hiến dâng Sinh tế. ⁴Nếu Chúa Cứu Thế còn ở trần gian, Ngài không thể nào giữ chức tế lễ ấy, vì tại đây đã có các thầy tế lẽ được bổ nhiệm theo luật pháp Mai-sen. ⁵Họ chỉ phục vụ tại Đền thờ trần gian, là mô hình của Đền thờ thật trên trời. Vì khi Mai-sen sắp dựng Đền tạm, Thượng Đế đã căn dặn: “Phải cẩn thận làm đúng kiểu mẫu Đền thờ mà con nhìn thấy lúc ở trên núi!”⚓
⁶Chức vụ tế lễ của Chúa Giê-xu cao cả hơn chức vụ các thầy tế lễ kia vô cùng, chẳng khác nào Giao ước thứ hai tốt đẹp hơn Giao ước thứ nhất, vì được thiết lập trên những lời hứa vô cùng quý báu hơn và được chính Chúa Giê-xu làm trung gian giữa hai bên kết ước.
⁷Nếu Giao ước thứ nhất đã hoàn hảo, hẳn không cần Giao ước thứ hai. ⁸Nhưng Thượng Đế đã khiển trách dân Y-sơ-ra-ên:
“Trong thời đại tương lai,
Ta sẽ lập một Giao ước
Với dân Y-sơ-ra-ên và Giu-đa⚓
⁹Khác hẳn giao ước Ta đã lập với tổ tiên họ
Khi Ta cầm tay dẫn họ ra khỏi Ai-cập.
Vì họ bội ước Ta nên Ta lìa bỏ họ.”
¹⁰Nhưng Thượng Đế hứa tiếp:
“Đây là giao ước Ta sẽ lập với dân Ta⚓
Sau những ngày đó, Ta sẽ ghi luật Ta trong trí
Và khắc vào tâm khảm họ.
Ta sẽ làm Thượng Đế của họ
Và họ sẽ làm dân Ta.
¹¹Chẳng cần có ai bảo bạn hữu
Hoặc kêu gọi anh em:
‘Hãy nhận biết Chúa!’
Vì mọi người từ trẻ đến già
Đều sẽ nhận biết Ta.
¹²Ta sẽ tha thứ mọi gian ác của họ Chẳng còn ghi nhớ tội lỗi nữa.”⚓ ¹³Giao ước này được Thượng Đế gọi là “Giao ước mới;” như thế, Giao ước thứ nhất đã cũ rồi. Điều gì cũ kỹ, lỗi thời đều phải bị đào thải.
