Manasseh Reigns in Judah
1Manasseh ⚓was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hephzibah.
2And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, ⚓according to the abominations of the nations whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel.
3For he rebuilt the high places ⚓which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; he raised up altars for Baal, and made a wooden image, ⚓as Ahab king of Israel had done; and he ⚓worshiped all the host of heaven and served them.
4⚓He also built altars in the house of the Lord, of which the Lord had said, ⚓“In Jerusalem I will put My name.”
5And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the ⚓two courts of the house of the Lord.
6⚓Also he made his son pass through the fire, practiced ⚓soothsaying, used witchcraft, and consulted spiritists and mediums. He did much evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke Him to anger.
7He even set a carved image of Asherah that he had made, in the house of which the Lord had said to David and to Solomon his son, ⚓“In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put My name forever;
8⚓and I will not make the feet of Israel wander anymore from the land which I gave their fathers—only if they are careful to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that My servant Moses commanded them.”
9But they paid no attention, and Manasseh ⚓seduced them to do more evil than the nations whom the Lord had destroyed before the children of Israel.
10And the Lord spoke ⚓by His servants the prophets, saying,
11⚓“Because Manasseh king of Judah has done these abominations (⚓he has acted more wickedly than all the ⚓Amorites who were before him, and ⚓has also made Judah sin with his idols),
12therefore thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘Behold, I am bringing such calamity upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whoever hears of it, both ⚓his ears will tingle.
13And I will stretch over Jerusalem ⚓the measuring line of Samaria and the plummet of the house of Ahab; ⚓I will wipe Jerusalem as one wipes a dish, wiping it and turning it upside down.
14So I will forsake the ⚓remnant of My inheritance and deliver them into the hand of their enemies; and they shall become victims of plunder to all their enemies,
15because they have done evil in My sight, and have provoked Me to anger since the day their fathers came out of Egypt, even to this day.’ ”
16⚓Moreover Manasseh shed very much innocent blood, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another, besides his sin by which he made Judah sin, in doing evil in the sight of the Lord.
17Now ⚓the rest of the acts of ⚓Manasseh—all that he did, and the sin that he committed—are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
18So ⚓Manasseh rested with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of Uzza. Then his son Amon reigned in his place.
Amon’s Reign and Death
19⚓Amon was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Meshullemeth the daughter of Haruz of Jotbah.
20And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, ⚓as his father Manasseh had done.
21So he walked in all the ways that his father had walked; and he served the idols that his father had served, and worshiped them.
22He ⚓forsook the Lord God of his fathers, and did not walk in the way of the Lord.
23⚓Then the servants of Amon ⚓conspired against him, and killed the king in his own house.
24But the people of the land ⚓executed all those who had conspired against King Amon. Then the people of the land made his son Josiah king in his place.
25Now the rest of the acts of Amon which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
26And he was buried in his tomb in the garden of Uzza. Then Josiah his son reigned in his place.

Ma-na-xe, vua độc ác của Giu-đa
1Ma-na-xe được mười hai tuổi khi lên làm vua và trị vì năm mươi lăm năm tại Giê-ru-sa-lem. Mẹ vua tên Hếp-xi-ba.
2Vua làm điều ác trước mặt CHÚA. Ông làm những điều gớm ghiếc như các dân tộc khác đã làm, tức những dân mà CHÚA đã đánh đuổi ra khỏi xứ trước khi dân Ít-ra-en đến.
3Ê-xê-chia, cha Ma-na-xe, đã phá sập những nơi thờ tà thần, nhưng Ma-na-xe cho xây lại những nơi đó. Ông xây bàn thờ cho Ba-anh và tạc tượng A-sê-ra y như A-háp, vua Ít-ra-en đã làm. Ma-na-xe cũng thờ lạy các ngôi sao trên trời và phục vụ chúng.
4CHÚA đã nói về đền thờ Ngài, “Người ta sẽ thờ phụng ta tại Giê-ru-sa-lem,” nhưng Ma-na-xe xây các bàn thờ trong đền thờ CHÚA.
5Ông cũng xây các bàn thờ để thờ lạy các tinh tú trong hai sân của đền thờ CHÚA.
6Ông cũng đưa con trai mình qua lửa.⚓ Ông dùng những ma thuật và bói toán bằng cách giải thích các điềm và mộng mị, đồng thời hỏi ý các đồng bóng và thầy bói.
Ông làm vô số điều ác và chọc giận CHÚA.
7Ma-na-xe tạc tượng A-sê-ra và đặt nó trong đền thờ CHÚA. CHÚA đã phán cùng Đa-vít và Sô-lô-môn, con ông, về đền thờ Ngài như sau, “Người ta sẽ thờ phụng ta đời đời trong đền thờ nầy và ở Giê-ru-sa-lem mà ta đã chọn từ trong các chi tộc Ít-ra-en.
8Ta sẽ không bao giờ bắt dân Ít-ra-en đi lang thang ra khỏi xứ mà ta đã cấp cho tổ tiên họ. Nhưng họ phải vâng theo mọi điều ta truyền dặn và mọi lời giáo huấn mà Mô-se, tôi tớ ta, đã ban cho họ.”
9Nhưng dân chúng không chịu nghe. Ma-na-xe dẫn dụ họ làm ác hơn các dân tộc mà CHÚA đã tiêu diệt trước mặt dân Ít-ra-en.
10CHÚA đã phán như sau qua các nhà tiên tri là tôi tớ Ngài,
11“Ma-na-xe, vua Giu-đa đã làm những điều gớm ghiếc nầy. Người làm ác hơn cả dân A-mô-rít trước người. Người cũng dẫn dụ Giu-đa phạm tội với các thần tượng mình.
12Nên CHÚA là Thượng Đế của Ít-ra-en phán: ‘Ta sẽ mang khốn đốn trên Giê-ru-sa-lem và Giu-đa đến nỗi ai nghe đều sửng sốt, giật mình⚓.
13Ta sẽ lấy dây đo Xa-ma-ri⚓ trên Giê-ru-sa-lem, và dùng dây thước thợ⚓ nghịch cùng gia đình A-háp để dùng cho Giê-ru-sa-lem. Ta sẽ quét sạch Giê-ru-sa-lem như người ta lau sạch cái dĩa và úp nó xuống.
14Ta sẽ ném bỏ dân còn sót lại. Ta sẽ trao chúng cho kẻ thù. Chúng sẽ bị các kẻ thù cướp bóc,
15vì dân ta đã làm điều ác. Chúng chọc giận ta từ ngày tổ tiên chúng ra khỏi Ai-cập cho đến nay.’”
16Ma-na-xe cũng tàn sát nhiều thường dân vô tội, làm cho máu họ tràn ngập Giê-ru-sa-lem từ đầu nầy đến đầu kia. Đó là chưa kể những tội lỗi ông xúi dân Giu-đa phạm; ông xúi giục Giu-đa làm điều ác.
17Những việc khác Ma-na-xe làm khi trị vì, luôn cả những tội lỗi ông phạm đều được ghi trong sách sử ký các vua Giu-đa.
18Ma-na-xe qua đời và được chôn trong vườn của cung vua, tức vườn U-xa. A-môn, con trai ông, lên nối ngôi.
Triều đại ngắn ngủi của A-môn,
vua Giu-đa
19A-môn được hai mươi hai tuổi khi lên ngôi và làm vua được hai năm tại Giê-ru-sa-lem. Mẹ ông là Mê-su-lê-mết, con gái Ha-ru, quê quán ở Giốt-ba.
20A-môn làm điều ác trước mặt CHÚA y như cha ông đã làm.
21Ông sống giống như cha mình: thờ lạy các thần tượng mà cha ông đã thờ và cúi lạy trước chúng nó.
22A-môn gạt bỏ CHÚA tức Thượng Đế của tổ tiên mình, không đi theo đường lối CHÚA.
23Các sĩ quan của A-môn lập mưu phản và giết ông trong cung vua.
24Sau đó dân chúng trong xứ giết tất cả những kẻ đã lập mưu giết vua A-môn rồi cử Giô-xia, con trai ông, lên nối ngôi.
25Mọi việc khác A-môn làm đều được ghi trong sách sử ký các vua Giu-đa.
26Ông được chôn trong mộ mình trong vườn U-xa. Giô-xia, con trai ông lên nối ngôi.
