The Sign of the Broken Flask
1Thus says the Lord: “Go and get a potter’s earthen flask, and take some of the elders of the people and some of the elders of the priests.
2And go out to ⚓the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the Potsherd Gate; and proclaim there the words that I will tell you,
3⚓and say, ‘Hear the word of the Lord, O kings of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem. Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “Behold, I will bring such a catastrophe on this place, that whoever hears of it, his ears will ⚓tingle.
4“Because they ⚓have forsaken Me and made this an alien place, because they have burned incense in it to other gods whom neither they, their fathers, nor the kings of Judah have known, and have filled this place with ⚓the blood of the innocents
5⚓(they have also built the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings to Baal, ⚓which I did not command or speak, nor did it come into My mind),
6therefore behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord, “that this place shall no more be called Tophet or ⚓the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter.
7And I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place, ⚓and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies and by the hands of those who seek their lives; their ⚓corpses I will give as meat for the birds of the heaven and for the beasts of the earth.
8I will make this city ⚓desolate and a hissing; everyone who passes by it will be astonished and hiss because of all its plagues.
9And I will cause them to eat the ⚓flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and everyone shall eat the flesh of his friend in the siege and in the desperation with which their enemies and those who seek their lives shall drive them to despair.” ’
10⚓“Then you shall break the flask in the sight of the men who go with you,
11and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: ⚓“Even so I will break this people and this city, as one breaks a potter’s vessel, which cannot be made whole again; and they shall ⚓bury them in Tophet till there is no place to bury.
12Thus I will do to this place,” says the Lord, “and to its inhabitants, and make this city like Tophet.
13And the houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah shall be defiled ⚓like the place of Tophet, because of all the houses on whose ⚓roofs they have burned incense to all the host of heaven, and ⚓poured out drink offerings to other gods.” ’ ”
14Then Jeremiah came from Tophet, where the Lord had sent him to prophesy; and he stood in ⚓the court of the Lord’s house and said to all the people,
15“Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: ‘Behold, I will bring on this city and on all her towns all the doom that I have pronounced against it, because ⚓they have stiffened their necks that they might not hear My words.’ ”

Ẩn dụ "bình gốm"
1Chúa bảo tôi: "Con đi mua một chiếc bình gốm và mời mấy trưởng lão và mấy thầy trưởng tế
2cùng đi với con đến trũng Con trai Hin-nôm, gần đường vào cổng Gốm. Tại đó, con hãy công bố sứ điệp này:
3“Các bậc vua chúa, vương hầu và toàn thể nhân dân tại thủ đô, hãy nghe lời Chúa! Đấng Hằng Hữu Toàn năng, Thượng Đế của Y-sơ-ra-ên, phán: Này, Ta sẽ giáng tai họa trên đất này đến nỗi ai nghe cũng lùng bùng lỗ tai.
4Vì Y-sơ-ra-ên đã bỏ Ta và biến trũng này thành một ổ tội ác ô nhục. Nhân dân đốt hương tế các tà thần mới, những thần tượng thế hệ này hoặc các thế hệ trước, hoặc các tiên đế cũng chưa từng thờ lạy. Họ đã làm cho nơi này đầy máu oan.
5Họ cũng xây các chùa miễu trên các đỉnh núi đồi để thờ bụt thần, để thiêu sống con cái làm tế lễ. Ta chẳng bao giờ bảo họ làm điều ghê tởm ấy, thật Ta không thể tưởng tượng.
6Vì thế, này, sẽ có ngày trũng này không còn mang tên 'Tô-phết' hoặc 'Con trai Hin-nôm' nữa, nhưng sẽ được gọi là Trũng Tàn sát.'
7Ta sẽ làm cho mưu đồ của Giu-đa và Giê- ru-sa-lem hoàn toàn thất bại tại trũng này. Họ sẽ bị quân thù tàn sát; Ta sẽ cho chim trời và thú rừng ăn thịt họ, trong trũng này.
8Ta sẽ làm cho thành phố này đổ nát, điêu tàn đến nỗi ai đi qua phải giật mình kinh ngạc và khóc than.⚓
9Ta sẽ để dân Do-thái ăn thịt con trai, con gái và bạn thân trong khi thành phố bị bao vây và khủng bố do địch quân và những kẻ âm mưu hãm hại dân Do-thái.
10Rồi con hãy đập vỡ bình gốm ngay trước mắt các người lãnh đạo Do-thái cùng đi với con
11và bảo họ: "Chúa Hằng Hữu Toàn năng phán: Ta sẽ đập tan dân tộc này và thành phố này như người ta đập vỡ bình gốm, không thể nào hàn gắn lại. Trũng Tô- phết sẽ trở thành một nghĩa địa chật ních, không còn chỗ chôn thêm.
12Ta sẽ phạt thành này và dân này như thế. Ta sẽ làm cho Giê-ru-sa-lem trở thành nghĩa địa Tô- phết.
13Các nhà cửa thủ đô và các cung điện của các vua Do-thái sẽ đầy xác chết và trở thành ô uế như Trũng Tô-phết, vì dân chúng thủ đô đã dâng hương để tế các ngôi sao trên trời và dâng rượu cho các tà thần."
14Sau khi thi hành xong những điều Chúa dạy, tôi⚓ từ Tô-phết trở vào thành phố. Tôi đứng trong hành lang Đền thờ Chúa và kêu gọi toàn thể nhân dân:
15“Chúa Hằng Hữu Toàn năng, Thượng Đế của Y-sơ-ra-ên phán: Này, Ta sẽ giáng tất cả các tai họa trên thủ đô Giê-ru-sa-lem và các thành phố Giu-đa đúng như lời Ta đã loan báo, vì dân tộc này ngoan cố không chịu nghe lời Ta."
