Cain Murders Abel
1Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, “I have acquired a man from the Lord.”
2Then she bore again, this time his brother Abel. Now ⚓Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
3And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit ⚓of the ground to the Lord.
4Abel also brought of ⚓the firstborn of his flock and of ⚓their fat. And the Lord respected ⚓Abel and his offering,
5but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell.
6So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen?
7If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”
8Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and ⚓killed him.
9Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?”
He said, ⚓“I do not know. Am I ⚓my brother’s keeper?”
10And He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood ⚓cries out to Me from the ground.
11So now ⚓you are cursed from the earth, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.
12When you till the ground, it shall no longer yield its strength to you. A fugitive and a vagabond you shall be on the earth.”
13And Cain said to the Lord, “My punishment is greater than I can bear!
14Surely You have driven me out this day from the face of the ground; ⚓I shall be ⚓hidden from Your face; I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond on the earth, and it will happen that⚓anyone who finds me will kill me.”
15And the Lord said to him, “Therefore, whoever kills Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him ⚓sevenfold.” And the Lord set a ⚓mark on Cain, lest anyone finding him should kill him.
The Family of Cain
16Then Cain ⚓went out from the ⚓presence of the Lord and dwelt in the land of Nod on the east of Eden.
17And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Ē´noch. And he built a city, ⚓and called the name of the city after the name of his son—Ē´noch.
18To Ē´noch was born Irad; and Irad begot Mehujael, and Mehujael begot Methushael, and Methushael begot Lamech.
19Then Lamech took for himself ⚓two wives: the name of one was Adah, and the name of the second was Zillah.
20And Adah bore Jabal. He was the father of those who dwell in tents and have livestock.
21His brother’s name was Jubal. He was the father of all those who play the harp and flute.
22And as for Zillah, she also bore Tubal-Cain, an instructor of every craftsman in bronze and iron. And the sister of Tubal-Cain was Naamah.
23Then Lamech said to his wives:
“Adah and Zillah, hear my voice;
Wives of Lamech, listen to my speech!
For I have killed a man for wounding me,
Even a young man for hurting me.
24⚓If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold,
Then Lamech seventy-sevenfold.”
A New Son
25And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and ⚓named him Seth, “For God has appointed another seed for me instead of Abel, whom Cain killed.”
26And as for Seth, ⚓to him also a son was born; and he named him Ē´nosh. Then men began ⚓to call on the name of the Lord.

1A-đam ăn ở⚓ với Ê-va, vợ mình. Nàng thụ thai và sinh Ca-in. Nàng nói: “Nhờ CHÚA, tôi đã sinh được một người.”
2Nàng lại sinh A-bên, em Ca-in.
A-bên chăn chiên còn Ca-in canh tác đất đai.
3Sau một thời gian, Ca-in đem hoa lợi đồng ruộng dâng lên cho CHÚA.
4A-bên cũng mang con vật đầu lòng luôn với mỡ⚓ dâng cho CHÚA. CHÚA chiếu cố đến A-bên và lễ vật của ông,
5nhưng Ngài không chiếu cố đến Ca-in và lễ vật của ông. Vì thế Ca-in rất giận và sầm mặt xuống.
6CHÚA hỏi Ca-in: “Tại sao con giận? Tại sao con sầm mặt xuống?
7Nếu con làm phải, lẽ nào không được chấp nhận? Còn nếu con làm không phải⚓ thì tội ác đang rình rập trước cửa, thèm con lắm, nhưng con phải quản trị nó.”
8Ca-in nói chuyện với A-bên, em mình,⚓ khi hai anh em đang ở ngoài đồng, Ca-in tấn công và giết A-bên em mình.
9CHÚA hỏi Ca-in: “A-bên, em ngươi ở đâu?” Ca-in thưa: “Con không biết! Con là người giữ em con sao?”
10Chúa tiếp: “Ngươi đã làm chi vậy? Tiếng của máu em ngươi từ dưới đất đang kêu van cùng Ta.
11Bây giờ, ngươi bị rủa sả từ đất, đất đai đã hả miệng uống máu em ngươi từ tay ngươi đổ ra!
12Khi ngươi canh tác đất đai, đất sẽ không sinh hoa lợi cho ngươi nữa. Ngươi sẽ lang thang phiêu bạt trên đất.”
13Ca-in thưa với Chúa: “Hình phạt con nặng quá, mang không nổi.
14Này, ngày nay Chúa đuổi con đi ra khỏi đất này, con sẽ trốn tránh mặt CHÚA. Con sẽ lang thang phiêu bạt trên đất, có ai gặp con, họ sẽ giết con đi.”
15CHÚA đáp: “Không đâu, nếu ai giết Ca-in sẽ bị báo thù gấp bảy lần.” CHÚA cũng đánh dấu trên người Ca-in để có ai gặp người, sẽ không giết.
16Ca-in đi khỏi mặt CHÚA và sống tại xứ Nốt ở phía đông Ê-đen.
17Ca-in ăn ở với vợ, nàng thụ thai, sinh Ê-nót. Ông xây một thành và đặt tên là Ê-nót, theo tên con trai mình.
18Ê-nót sinh I-rát, I-rát sinh Mê-hu-gia-ên; Mê-hu-gia-ên sinh Mê-lu-sa-ên; Mê-lu-sa-ên sinh Lê-méc.
19Lê-méc cưới hai vợ, vợ cả tên A-đa, vợ thứ tên Xin-la.
20A-đa sinh Gia-banh; Gia-banh là ông tổ⚓ của dân ở lều trại, nuôi gia súc.
21Em Gia-banh là Giu-banh, ông tổ của mọi người chơi đàn hạc và thổi sáo.
22Xin-la cũng sinh Tu-banh Ca-in, ông tổ của những người rèn mọi thứ dụng cụ bằng đồng, bằng sắt và em gái của Tu-banh Ca-in tên là Na-a-ma.
23Lê-méc bảo hai vợ là A-đa và Xin-la, hỡi các bà vợ của Lê-méc, hãy lắng nghe tiếng ta! Hãy nghe lời ta! Ta đã giết một người, vì làm ta bị thương và một thanh niên vì gây thương tích cho ta!
24Nếu Ca-in được báo thù bảy lần thì Lê-méc phải được báo thù gấp bảy mươi bảy lần.
Sết Và Dòng Họ Sết
25A-đam lại ăn ở với vợ, nàng sinh một trai, đặt tên là Sết vì nàng nói: “Đức Chúa Trời đã ban cho tôi một con trai⚓ khác thay cho A-bên đã bị Ca-in giết!”
26Sết cũng sinh con trai đặt tên là Ê-nót. Từ đó, người ta bắt đầu cầu khẩn danh CHÚA.⚓
