¹ Khi Sa-lô-môn cầu nguyện xong, lửa từ trời giáng xuống đốt của lễ thiêu và các hi sinh, sự vinh quang của Đức Giê-hô-va đầy dẫy trong đền.⚓ ² Những thầy tế lễ chẳng vào được trong đền của Đức Giê-hô-va, vì sự vinh quang Đức Giê-hô-va đầy dẫy đền của Ngài. ³ Hết thảy dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đều thấy lửa và sự vinh quang của Đức Giê-hô-va giáng xuống đền, bèn sấp mặt xuống đất trên nền lót, thờ lạy Đức Giê-hô-va và cảm tạ Ngài, mà rằng: Chúa là nhân từ, vì sự thương xót của Ngài còn đến đời đời!⚓
⁴ Bấy giờ vua và cả dân sự dâng những của lễ tại trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va. ⁵ Vua Sa-lô-môn dâng hai vạn hai ngàn con bò và mười hai vạn con chiên đực. Rồi vua và cả dân sự đều làm lễ khánh thành đền của Đức Chúa Trời. ⁶ Những thầy tế lễ hầu việc theo chức phận mình; còn người Lê-vi thì cầm nhạc khí của Đức Giê-hô-va, mà vua Đa-vít đã sắm đặng ngợi khen Đức Giê-hô-va, khi người cậy chúng đặng ngợi khen Ngài, bởi vì lòng nhân từ Chúa còn đến đời đời. Những thầy tế lễ thổi kèn ở trước mặt chúng, và cả Y-sơ-ra-ên đều đứng. ⁷ Sa-lô-môn biệt riêng ra thánh chỗ ở chính giữa hành lang trước đền Đức Giê-hô-va; vì tại đó, người dâng của lễ thiêu và mỡ về của lễ thù ân, bởi cái bàn thờ đồng mà Sa-lô-môn đã làm, không đựng hết của lễ thiêu, của lễ chay, và mỡ được.
⁸ Trong khi ấy, Sa-lô-môn và cả Y-sơ-ra-ên, đến từ miền về phía Ha-mát cho tới khe Ê-díp-tô, nhóm lại thành một hội rất đông đảo, đều dự lễ trong bảy ngày. ⁹ Qua ngày thứ tám, người ta giữ lễ trọng thể, vì họ dự lễ khánh thành bàn thờ trong bảy ngày, và mừng lễ thường trong bảy ngày. ¹⁰ Ngày hai mươi ba tháng bảy, người cho dân sự trở về trại mình, lòng đều vui vẻ và mừng rỡ, vì sự nhân từ mà Đức Giê-hô-va đã ban cho Đa-vít, cho Sa-lô-môn, và cho Y-sơ-ra-ên, là dân sự của Ngài.
¹¹ Như vậy, Sa-lô-môn làm xong đền Đức Giê-hô-va và cung vua; phàm công việc gì Sa-lô-môn rắp lòng làm trong đền Đức Giê-hô-va và trong cung vua, đều xong cả.
¹² Ban đêm Đức Giê-hô-va hiện đến cùng Sa-lô-môn, mà rằng: Ta có nghe lời cầu nguyện ngươi, và đã chọn nơi nầy làm một nhà tế lễ. ¹³ Nếu ta đóng các từng trời lại, không cho mưa xuống, khiến cào cào phá hại thổ sản, và giáng ôn dịch giữa dân sự ta; ¹⁴ và nhược bằng dân sự ta, là dân gọi bằng danh ta, hạ mình xuống, cầu nguyện, tìm kiếm mặt ta, và trở lại, bỏ con đường tà, thì ta ở trên trời sẽ nghe, tha thứ tội chúng nó, và cứu xứ họ khỏi tai vạ. ¹⁵ Bấy giờ, mắt ta sẽ đoái xem, lỗ tai ta sẽ lắng nghe lời nào cầu nguyện tại nơi nầy; ¹⁶ vì bây giờ, ta đã chọn và khiến cho cái nhà nầy ra thánh, hầu cho danh ta ngự đó đời đời; mắt cùng lòng ta sẽ ở đó luôn luôn. ¹⁷ Còn ngươi, nếu ngươi khứng đi trước mặt ta như Đa-vít, cha ngươi đã làm, làm theo mọi điều ta phán dạy ngươi, gìn giữ luật lệ và giới mạng ta, ¹⁸ thì ta sẽ lập ngôi nước ngươi được bền vững, y theo lời ước ta đã kết với Đa-vít, cha ngươi, mà rằng: Ngươi sẽ chẳng hề thiếu người quản trị Y-sơ-ra-ên.⚓ ¹⁹ Nhưng nếu các ngươi bội nghịch, bỏ các luật lệ và giới mạng ta đã đặt trước mặt các ngươi, đi hầu việc những tà thần và thờ lạy chúng nó, ²⁰ thì ta sẽ rứt nhổ các ngươi khỏi đất ta đã ban cho các ngươi; còn cái nhà nầy mà ta đã biệt riêng ra thánh cho danh ta, ta sẽ bỏ nó đi, làm cho nó nên một câu tục ngữ, một việc nhạo cười giữa các dân tộc. ²¹ Cái nhà nầy dẫu cao dường nào, hễ ai đi qua gần nó cũng sẽ lấy làm lạ mà nói rằng: Cớ sao Đức Giê-hô-va có xử xứ nầy và đền nầy như thế? ²² Thì người ta sẽ đáp rằng: Bởi vì họ lìa bỏ Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời của tổ phụ họ, là Đấng đã dẫn họ ra khỏi xứ Ê-díp-tô, và vì họ đeo đuổi theo các tà thần, thờ lạy và hầu việc chúng nó, nên Ngài đã giáng trên họ các tai vạ nầy.

Solomon Dedicates the Temple

¹When ⚓Solomon had finished praying, ⚓fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and ⚓the glory of the Lord filled the temple. ²⚓And the priests could not enter the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord’s house. ³When all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the Lord on the temple, they bowed their faces to the ground on the pavement, and worshiped and praised the Lord, saying:
⚓“For He is good,
⚓For His mercy endures forever.”
⁴⚓Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the Lord. ⁵King Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty-two thousand bulls and one hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the people dedicated the house of God. ⁶⚓And the priests attended to their services; the Levites also with instruments of the music of the Lord, which King David had made to praise the Lord, saying, “For His mercy endures forever,” whenever David offered praise by their ministry. ⚓The priests sounded trumpets opposite them, while all Israel stood.
⁷Furthermore ⚓Solomon consecrated the middle of the court that was in front of the house of the Lord; for there he offered burnt offerings and the fat of the peace offerings, because the bronze altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt offerings, the grain offerings, and the fat.
⁸⚓At that time Solomon kept the feast seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great assembly ⚓from the entrance of Hamath to ⚓the Brook of Egypt. ⁹And on the eighth day they held a ⚓sacred assembly, for they observed the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days. ¹⁰⚓On the twenty-third day of the seventh month he sent the people away to their tents, joyful and glad of heart for the good that the Lord had done for David, for Solomon, and for His people Israel. ¹¹Thus ⚓Solomon finished the house of the Lord and the king’s house; and Solomon successfully accomplished all that came into his heart to make in the house of the Lord and in his own house.

God’s Second Appearance to Solomon

¹²Then the Lord⚓appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him: “I have heard your prayer, ⚓and have chosen this ⚓place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. ¹³⚓When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, ¹⁴if My people who are ⚓called by My name will ⚓humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, ⚓then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. ¹⁵Now ⚓My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place. ¹⁶For now ⚓I have chosen and sanctified this house, that My name may be there forever; and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually. ¹⁷⚓As for you, if you walk before Me as your father David walked, and do according to all that I have commanded you, and if you keep My statutes and My judgments, ¹⁸then I will establish the throne of your kingdom, as I covenanted with David your father, saying, ⚓‘You shall not fail to have a man as ruler in Israel.’
¹⁹⚓“But if you turn away and forsake My statutes and My commandments which I have set before you, and go and serve other gods, and worship them, ²⁰⚓then I will uproot them from My land which I have given them; and this house which I have sanctified for My name I will cast out of My sight, and will make it a proverb and a ⚓byword among all peoples.
²¹“And as for⚓this house, which is exalted, everyone who passes by it will be ⚓astonished and say, ⚓‘Why has the Lord done thus to this land and this house?’ ²²Then they will answer, ‘Because they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and embraced other gods, and worshiped them and served them; therefore He has brought all this calamity on them.’ ”
