The Lord Will Not Relent
1Then the Lord said to me, ⚓“Even if ⚓Moses and ⚓Samuel stood before Me, My mind would not be favorable toward this people. Cast them out of My sight, and let them go forth.
2And it shall be, if they say to you, ‘Where should we go?’ then you shall tell them, ‘Thus says the Lord:
⚓“Such as are for death, to death;
And such as are for the sword, to the sword;
And such as are for the famine, to the famine;
And such as are for the ⚓captivity, to the captivity.” ’
3“And I will ⚓appoint over them four forms of destruction,” says the Lord: “the sword to slay, the dogs to drag, ⚓the birds of the heavens and the beasts of the earth to devour and destroy.
4I will hand them over to ⚓trouble, to all kingdoms of the earth, because of ⚓Manasseh the son of Hezekiah, king of Judah, for what he did in Jerusalem.
5“For who will have pity on you, O Jerusalem?
Or who will bemoan you?
Or who will turn aside to ask how you are doing?
6⚓You have forsaken Me,” says the Lord,
“You have ⚓gone backward.
Therefore I will stretch out My hand against you and destroy you;
⚓I am weary of relenting!
7And I will winnow them with a winnowing fan in the gates of the land;
I will ⚓bereave them of children;
I will destroy My people,
Since they ⚓do not return from their ways.
8Their widows will be increased to Me more than the sand of the seas;
I will bring against them,
Against the mother of the young men,
A plunderer at noonday;
I will cause anguish and terror to fall on them ⚓suddenly.
9“She⚓ languishes who has borne seven;
She has breathed her last;
⚓Her sun has gone down
While it was yet day;
She has been ashamed and confounded.
And the remnant of them I will deliver to the sword
Before their enemies,” says the Lord.
Jeremiah’s Dejection
10⚓Woe is me, my mother,
That you have borne me,
A man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth!
I have neither lent for interest,
Nor have men lent to me for interest.
Every one of them curses me.
11The Lord said:
“Surely it will be well with your remnant;
Surely I will cause ⚓the enemy to intercede with you
In the time of adversity and in the time of affliction.
12Can anyone break iron,
The northern iron and the bronze?
13Your wealth and your treasures
I will give as ⚓plunder without price,
Because of all your sins,
Throughout your territories.
14And I will make you cross over with your enemies
⚓Into a land which you do not know;
For a ⚓fire is kindled in My anger,
Which shall burn upon you.”
15O Lord, ⚓You know;
Remember me and visit me,
And ⚓take vengeance for me on my persecutors.
In Your enduring patience, do not take me away.
Know that ⚓for Your sake I have suffered rebuke.
16Your words were found, and I ⚓ate them,
And ⚓Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart;
For I am called by Your name,
O Lord God of hosts.
17⚓I did not sit in the assembly of the mockers,
Nor did I rejoice;
I sat alone because of Your hand,
For You have filled me with indignation.
18Why is my ⚓pain perpetual
And my wound incurable,
Which refuses to be healed?
Will You surely be to me ⚓like an unreliable stream,
As waters that fail?
The Lord Reassures Jeremiah
19Therefore thus says the Lord:
⚓“If you return,
Then I will bring you back;
You shall ⚓stand before Me;
If you ⚓take out the precious from the vile,
You shall be as My mouth.
Let them return to you,
But you must not return to them.
20And I will make you to this people a fortified bronze ⚓wall;
And they will fight against you,
But ⚓they shall not prevail against you;
For I am with you to save you
And deliver you,” says the Lord.
21“I will deliver you from the hand of the wicked,
And I will redeem you from the grip of the terrible.”

犹大百姓的厄运
1耶和华对我说：“虽有摩西和撒母耳站在我面前，我的心也不顾惜这百姓。你把他们从我眼前赶出，叫他们出去吧！
2他们若问你说：‘我们往哪里去呢？’你就告诉他们，耶和华如此说：
‘定为死亡的，必致死亡；
定为刀杀的，必被刀杀；
定为饥荒的，必遭饥荒；
定为掳掠的，必被掳掠。’”
3“我命定四样灾害临到他们，就是刀剑杀戮、群狗拖拉、空中的飞鸟和地上的走兽吞吃毁灭。这是耶和华说的。
4我必使地上万国因他们而惊骇，都因希西家的儿子犹大王玛拿西在耶路撒冷所做的事。”
5耶路撒冷啊，有谁同情你呢？
有谁为你悲伤呢？
有谁转身问你安呢？
6你弃绝了我，
转身退后；
因此我伸手攻击你，毁灭你，
我已怜悯到厌烦了。
这是耶和华说的。
7我在境内各关口
用簸箕筛我的百姓，
使他们丧掉儿女，
又毁灭他们，
他们仍不转离所行的道。
8他们的寡妇在我面前比海沙更多；
我使灭命者在正午来到，
攻击年轻人的母亲，
使痛苦惊吓忽然临到她身上。
9生过七个孩子的妇人衰弱；
尚在白昼，太阳忽然落下，
她就抱愧蒙羞。
我必当着敌人的面，
将他们当中的幸存者交给刀剑。
这是耶和华说的。
耶利米向耶和华诉苦
10我的母亲哪，我有祸了！因你生我作全地争相指控的人。我素来没有借贷给人，人也没有借贷给我，人人却都咒骂我。
11耶和华说：“我必定释放⚓你，使你得福气。灾祸苦难来临时，我必使仇敌央求你。
12人岂能将铜与铁，就是北方的铁折断呢？
13“我必因你在四境之内所犯的一切罪，将你的货物财宝当掠物，白白地交出来⚓。
14我要使你的仇敌过去，到你所不认识的地方⚓，因为你们要被我怒中所起的火焚烧。”
15耶和华啊，你是知道的；
求你记念我，眷顾我，
向迫害我的人为我报仇；
不要把我取去，因你不轻易发怒，
要知道我为你的缘故受了凌辱。
16耶和华－万军之上帝啊，
我得着你的话就把它们吃了，
你的话是我心中的欢喜快乐；
因我是称为你名下的人。
17我并未坐在享乐人的会中欢乐；
因你的手，我就独自静坐，
你使我满心愤慨。
18我的痛苦为何长久不止呢？
我的伤痕为何无法可医，不能痊愈呢？
难道你以诡诈待我，像流干的河道吗？
19所以耶和华如此说：“你若回转，
我就使你归回，
站在我面前。
你若能将宝物和无用之物分别出来，
你就可以当作我的口。
他们必归向你，
你却不可归向他们。
20我必使你向这百姓成为坚固的铜墙。
他们必攻击你，却不能胜过你；
因我与你同在，要拯救你，搭救你。
这是耶和华说的。
21我必搭救你脱离恶人的手，
救赎你脱离残暴之人的手。”
