¹人屢次受責罰，仍然硬着頸項，
他必頃刻被毀，無從醫治。
²義人增多，民就喜樂；
惡人掌權，民就嘆息。
³愛慕智慧的，使父親喜樂；
結交妓女的，卻浪費錢財。
⁴王藉公平，使國堅定；
強索貢物的，使它毀壞。
⁵諂媚鄰舍的，
就是設網羅絆他的腳。
⁶惡人犯罪，自陷圈套；
惟獨義人歡呼喜樂。
⁷義人關注貧寒人的案情；
惡人不明瞭這種知識。
⁸傲慢人煽動全城；
智慧人止息眾怒。
⁹智慧人與愚妄人有爭訟，
或怒或笑，總不得安寧。
¹⁰好流人血的，恨惡完全人，
正直人卻顧惜⚓他的性命。
¹¹愚昧人怒氣全發；
智慧人自我平息。
¹²君王若聽謊言，
他一切臣僕都是奸惡。
¹³窮乏人和欺壓者相遇⚓，
耶和華使他們的眼目明亮。
¹⁴君王憑誠信判斷貧寒人，
他的國位必永遠堅立。
¹⁵杖打和責備能增加智慧；
任性的少年使母親羞愧。
¹⁶惡人多，過犯也加多，
義人必看見他們敗亡。
¹⁷管教你的兒子，他就使你得安寧，
也使你心裏喜樂。
¹⁸沒有異象⚓，民就放肆；
惟遵守律法的，便為有福。
¹⁹僕人不能靠言語受教；
他即使明白，也不回應。
²⁰你見過言語急躁的人嗎？
愚昧人比他更有指望。
²¹人將僕人從小嬌養，
至終必帶來憂傷⚓。
²²好生氣的人挑起爭端，
暴怒的人多多犯錯。
²³人的高傲使自己蒙羞；
心裏謙遜的，必得尊榮。
²⁴與盜賊分贓的，是恨惡自己的性命；
他雖聽見發誓的聲音，也不告訴人。
²⁵懼怕人的，陷入圈套；
惟有倚靠耶和華的，必得安穩。
²⁶求王恩的人多；
人獲公正來自耶和華。
²⁷不義之人，義人憎惡；
行事正直的，惡人憎惡。

¹He⚓ who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck,
Will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
²When the righteous are in authority, the ⚓people rejoice;
But when a wicked man rules, ⚓the people groan.
³Whoever loves wisdom makes his father rejoice,
But a companion of harlots wastes his wealth.
⁴The king establishes the land by justice,
But he who receives bribes overthrows it.
⁵A man who ⚓flatters his neighbor
Spreads a net for his feet.
⁶By transgression an evil man is snared,
But the righteous sings and rejoices.
⁷The righteous ⚓considers the cause of the poor,
But the wicked does not understand such knowledge.
⁸Scoffers ⚓set a city aflame,
But wise men turn away wrath.
⁹If a wise man contends with a foolish man,
⚓Whether the fool rages or laughs, there is no peace.
¹⁰⚓The bloodthirsty hate the blameless,
But the upright seek his well-being.
¹¹A fool vents all his ⚓feelings,
But a wise man holds them back.
¹²If a ruler pays attention to lies,
All his servants become wicked.
¹³The poor man and the oppressor have this in common:
⚓The Lord gives light to the eyes of both.
¹⁴The king who judges the ⚓poor with truth,
His throne will be established forever.
¹⁵The rod and rebuke give ⚓wisdom,
But a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.
¹⁶When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increases;
But the righteous will see their ⚓fall.
¹⁷Correct your son, and he will give you rest;
Yes, he will give delight to your soul.
¹⁸⚓Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint;
But ⚓happy is he who keeps the law.
¹⁹A servant will not be corrected by mere words;
For though he understands, he will not respond.
²⁰Do you see a man hasty in his words?
⚓There is more hope for a fool than for him.
²¹He who pampers his servant from childhood
Will have him as a son in the end.
²²⚓An angry man stirs up strife,
And a furious man abounds in transgression.
²³⚓A man’s pride will bring him low,
But the humble in spirit will retain honor.
²⁴Whoever is a partner with a thief hates his own life;
⚓He swears to tell the truth, but reveals nothing.
²⁵⚓The fear of man brings a snare,
But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe.
²⁶⚓Many seek the ruler’s favor,
But justice for man comes from the Lord.
²⁷An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous,
And he who is upright in the way is an abomination to the wicked.
