Wise Sayings of Solomon
1The proverbs of ⚓Solomon:
⚓A wise son makes a glad father,
But a foolish son is the grief of his mother.
2⚓Treasures of wickedness profit nothing,
⚓But righteousness delivers from death.
3⚓The Lord will not allow the righteous soul to famish,
But He casts away the desire of the wicked.
4⚓He who has a slack hand becomes poor,
But ⚓the hand of the diligent makes rich.
5He who gathers in ⚓summer is a wise son;
He who sleeps in harvest is⚓a son who causes shame.
6Blessings are on the head of the righteous,
But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
7⚓The memory of the righteous is blessed,
But the name of the wicked will rot.
8The wise in heart will receive commands,
⚓But a prating fool will fall.
9⚓He who walks with integrity walks securely,
But he who perverts his ways will become known.
10He who winks with the eye causes trouble,
But a prating fool will fall.
11The mouth of the righteous is a well of life,
But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
12Hatred stirs up strife,
But ⚓love covers all sins.
13Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has understanding,
But ⚓a rod is for the back of him who is devoid of understanding.
14Wise people store up knowledge,
But ⚓the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.
15The ⚓rich man’s wealth is his strong city;
The destruction of the poor is their poverty.
16The labor of the righteous leads to ⚓life,
The wages of the wicked to sin.
17He who keeps instruction is in the way of life,
But he who refuses correction goes astray.
18Whoever ⚓hides hatred has lying lips,
And ⚓whoever spreads slander is a fool.
19⚓In the multitude of words sin is not lacking,
But ⚓he who restrains his lips is wise.
20The tongue of the righteous is choice silver;
The heart of the wicked is worth little.
21The lips of the righteous feed many,
But fools die for lack of wisdom.
22⚓The blessing of the Lord makes one rich,
And He adds no sorrow with it.
23⚓To do evil is like sport to a fool,
But a man of understanding has wisdom.
24⚓The fear of the wicked will come upon him,
And ⚓the desire of the righteous will be granted.
25When the whirlwind passes by, ⚓the wicked is no more,
But ⚓the righteous has an everlasting foundation.
26As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes,
So is the lazy man to those who send him.
27⚓The fear of the Lord prolongs days,
But ⚓the years of the wicked will be shortened.
28The hope of the righteous will be gladness,
But the ⚓expectation of the wicked will perish.
29The way of the Lordis strength for the upright,
But ⚓destruction will come to the workers of iniquity.
30⚓The righteous will never be removed,
But the wicked will not inhabit the earth.
31⚓The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom,
But the perverse tongue will be cut out.
32The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable,
But the mouth of the wicked what is perverse.

1Con khôn ngoan làm cha vui thỏa,
Con khờ dại khiến mẹ buồn đau.
2Của phi nghĩa chẳng ích lợi gì,
Đức công chính cứu người thoát chết.
3Chúa không để người công chính đói khổ,
Nhưng khước từ ước vọng kẻ ác.
4Tay lười biếng suốt đời nghèo khó,
Tay siêng năng giàu có không xa.
5Con khôn thu lúa tháng hè,
Con lười nằm ngủ ngày mùa nhục thay.
6Phúc lành trên đầu người công chính,
Còn mồm ác nhân đầy bạo tàn.
7Kỷ niệm thiện nhân, nguồn hạnh phúc,
Tên tuổi kẻ ác chóng tàn phai.
8Người khôn ngoan vui nghe mệnh lệnh,
Kẻ dại mồm hay bị ngã đau.
9Ai liêm chính vững vàng tiến bước,
Đứa gian tham bại lộ có ngày.
10Người châm biếm⚓ ưa gây phiền muộn,
Kẻ dại mồm hay bị ngã đau.
11Miệng người công chính như nguồn sống,
Còn mồm ác nhân đầy bạo tàn.
12Tính ganh ghét phát sinh tranh chấp,
Lòng yêu thương che đậy tội khiên.
13Khôn ngoan ra từ môi người thông sáng,
Roi vọt giáng trên lưng kẻ u mê.
14Người khôn ngoan trau dồi trí thức,
Kẻ dại mồm suy đốn không xa.
15Tiền của là sức mạnh người giàu có,
Nghèo nàn là thảm cảnh kẻ lầm than
16Người thiện sử dụng tiền lương nuôi dưỡng sự sống,
Kẻ ác xài phí lợi tức gây ra tội lỗi.
17Vâng lời giáo huấn đi đường sống,
Chối bỏ khuyên răn bước lạc lầm.
18Ai che giấu ganh ghét có môi giả dối,
Ai buông lòi phỉ báng là kẻ điên rồ.
19Nói năng nhiều tội khiên càng lắm,
Cầm giữ miệng lưỡi ấy người khôn ngoan.
20Lưỡi người công chính như bạc quý,
Tâm kẻ tiểu nhân rẻ hơn bèo.
21Môi người công chính nuôi dưỡng nhiều người,
Kẻ dại ngã chết vì thiếu suy xét.
22Hạnh phúc Chúa cho ta giàu có,
Giàu Chúa cho chẳng gọn ưu phiền.
23Kẻ rồ dại tìm vui trong việc ác,
Người thông sáng khoái lạc với khôn ngoan.
24Kẻ ác sợ của nào bị trao của ấy,
Người lành nhận lấy điều mình ước ao.
25Bão thổi qua, ác nhân tan tác,
Người lành ngay vững mạnh muôn đời.
26Kẻ biếng nhác nhọc lòng khổ chủ,
Như ăn phải giấm, như dầm khói cay.
27Kính sợ Chúa: Ngài gia tăng tuổi thọ,
Đời ác nhân bị rút ngắn đi.
28Ước vọng thiện nhân, niềm vui lớn.
Hoài bão ác nhân sớm tàn phai.
29Đường lối Chúa là pháo đài cho người trong sạch,
Nhưng là chỗ diệt vong cho kẻ làm ác.
30Người công chính trường tồn bất diệt,
Kẻ ác không còn đất dung thân,
31Miệng người công chính nở hoa khôn
Còn lưỡi kẻ dối gian bị cắt mất.
32Môi công chính lựa lời tươi đẹp,
Miệng ác nhân lải nhải gian tà.
