1Đây là những thầy tế lễ và người Lê-vi cùng hồi hương với Xô-rô-ba-bên, con trai của Sa-anh-thi-ên, và với Giê-sua:⚓ Sê-ra-gia, Giê-rê-mi, E-xơ-ra,
2A-ma-ria, Ma-lúc, Ha-túc,
3Sê-ca-nia, Rê-hum, Mê-rê-mốt,
4Y-đô, Ghi-nê-thôi, A-bi-gia,
5Mi-gia-min, Ma-a-đia, Binh-ga,
6Sê-ma-gia, Giô-gia-ríp, Giê-đa-gia,
7Sa-lu, A-móc, Hinh-kia và Giê-đa-gia. Đó là những nhà lãnh đạo của các thầy tế lễ và anh em của họ trong đời Giê-sua.
8Những người Lê-vi gồm có: Giê-sua, Bin-nui, Cát-mi-ên, Sê-rê-bia, Giu-đa và Mát-ta-nia cùng với anh em mình phụ trách các bài ca cảm tạ Chúa.
9Bác-bu-kia và U-ni cùng với anh em của họ là người Lê-vi đứng hát đối nhau trong các buổi thờ phượng.
10Giê-sua sinh Giô-gia-kim; Giô-gia-kim sinh Ê-li-a-síp; Ê-li-a-síp sinh Giô-gia-đa;
11Giô-gia-đa sinh Giô-na-than, và Giô-na-than sinh Gia-đua.
12Đây là trưởng tộc của các thầy tế lễ trong đời Giô-gia-kim: về họ Sê-rê-gia có Mê-ra-gia; về họ Giê-rê-mi có Ha-na-nia;
13về họ E-xơ-ra có Mê-su-lam; về họ A-ma-ria có Giô-ha-nan;
14về họ Mê-lu-ki có Giô-na-than;
15về họ Sê-ba-nia có Giô-sép; về họ Ha-rim có Át-na; về họ Mê-ra-giốt có Hên-cai;
16về họ Y-đô có Xa-cha-ri; về họ Ghi-nê-thôn, có Mê-su-lam;
17về họ A-bi-gia có Xiếc-ri; về họ Min-gia-min có...;⚓ về họ Mô-a-đia có Phinh-tai;
18về họ Binh-ga có Sa-mua; về họ Sê-ma-gia có Giô-na-than;
19về họ Giô-gia-ríp có Mát-tê-nai; về họ Giê-đa-gia có U-xi;
20về họ Sa-lai có Ca-lai; về họ A-móc có Ê-be;
21về họ Hinh-kia có Ha-sa-bia; về họ Giê-đa-gia có Nê-tha-nê-ên.
22Việc ghi tên vào sổ của các trưởng tộc người Lê-vi và các thầy tế lễ được thực hiện trong đời thầy tế lễ thượng phẩm Ê-li-a-síp, Giô-gia-đa, Giô-ha-nan và Gia-đua. Đến thời trị vì của Đa-ri-út, vua Ba Tư, không còn danh sách nào nữa.
23Con cháu các trưởng tộc của người Lê-vi có ghi tên vào sách sử ký cho đến đời Giô-ha-nan, cháu của Ê-li-a-síp.
24Các trưởng tộc của người Lê-vi gồm có: Ha-sa-bia, Sê-rê-bia và Giê-sua, con trai của⚓ Cát-mi-ên và các anh em người đứng đối diện theo ban thứ, ca ngợi và cảm tạ Chúa như quy định của Đa-vít, người của Đức Chúa Trời.
25Mát-ta-nia, Bác-bu-kia, Ô-ba-đia, Mê-su-lam, Tanh-môn và A-cúp là những người gác cổng đứng giữ các kho bên cổng đền thờ.
26Những người nầy sống trong thời Giô-gia-kim, con trai của Giê-sua, cháu Giô-xa-đác, vào thời Nê-hê-mi làm tổng đốc và vào thời E-xơ-ra làm thầy tế lễ và thầy thông giáo.
Lễ cung hiến tường thành Giê-ru-sa-lem
27Vào dịp lễ cung hiến các tường thành Giê-ru-sa-lem, người ta sai tìm các người Lê-vi ở khắp mọi nơi để đưa họ về Giê-ru-sa-lem dự lễ cung hiến trong niềm hân hoan, cảm tạ giữa tiếng hát ngợi ca hòa lẫn với tiếng chập chõa, đàn hạc và đàn lia.
28Con cái của các ca sĩ đều tụ họp lại từ đồng bằng chung quanh Giê-ru-sa-lem, từ các làng mạc của người Nê-tô-pha-tít,
29từ Bết Ghinh-ganh, từ đồng bằng Ghê-ba và từ Ách-ma-vết, vì các ca sĩ đã xây làng mạc cho mình chung quanh thành Giê-ru-sa-lem.
30Những thầy tế lễ và người Lê-vi thanh tẩy chính mình cũng như thanh tẩy dân chúng, các cổng và tường thành.
31Bấy giờ tôi bảo các người lãnh đạo Giu-đa lên trên tường thành rồi phân làm hai nhóm đi diễu hành để cảm tạ Chúa. Một nhóm đi bên phải trên vách thành hướng về cổng Phân.
32Đi sau họ là Hô-sa-gia và phân nửa số các nhà lãnh đạo Giu-đa
33cùng với A-xa-ria, E-xơ-ra, Mê-su-lam,
34Giu-đa, Bên-gia-min, Sê-ma-gia, Giê-rê-mi,
35và một số con trai của các thầy tế lễ thổi kèn là Xa-cha-ri, con trai của Giô-na-than, cháu của Sê-ma-gia, chắt của Mát-ta-nia, chít của Mi-chê; Mi-chê là con trai của Xác-cua, cháu của A-sáp
36cùng các anh em của ông là Sê-ma-gia, A-xa-rên, Mi-la-lai, Ghi-la-lai, Ma-ai, Nê-tha-nê-ên, Giu-đa và Ha-na-ni, cầm nhạc cụ của Đa-vít, người của Đức Chúa Trời. Thầy thông giáo E-xơ-ra đi trước họ.
37Từ cổng Suối ngay trước mặt, họ đi thẳng lên các nấc thang của thành Đa-vít, theo dốc tường thành đến phía trên đền Đa-vít và đến cổng Nước về hướng đông.
38Còn nhóm cảm tạ thứ hai đi trên tường thành đối diện với nhóm thứ nhất. Tôi đi phía sau họ cùng với phân nửa dân chúng, từ tháp Lò cho đến vách Rộng,
39và đi trên cổng Ép-ra-im, gần bên cổng Cũ, cổng Cá, tháp Ha-na-nê-ên và tháp Mê-a đến cổng Chiên. Rồi họ dừng lại tại cổng Phòng Vệ.
40Vậy hai nhóm cảm tạ dừng lại trong đền Đức Chúa Trời, tôi và phân nửa các người lãnh đạo theo tôi cũng vậy.
41Những thầy tế lễ thổi kèn là Ê-lê-a-kim, Ma-a-xê-gia, Min-gia-min, Mi-chê, Ê-li-ô-ê-nai, Xa-cha-ri và Ha-na-nia;
42cũng có Ma-a-xê-gia, Sê-ma-gia, Ê-lê-a-xa, U-xi, Giô-ha-nan, Manh-ki-gia, Ê-lam và Ê-xe. Các ca sĩ do Dít-ra-bia điều khiển cất tiếng hát vang.
43Trong ngày đó, họ dâng những tế lễ trọng thể và tràn ngập niềm vui vì Đức Chúa Trời đã khiến lòng họ vui mừng. Các phụ nữ và trẻ em cũng vui mừng nữa. Niềm vui từ thành Giê-ru-sa-lem lan rộng ra xa.
Trách nhiệm với đền thờ
44Trong ngày ấy, người ta lập những người trông coi các phòng dùng để chứa các lễ vật, hoa lợi đầu mùa, và các phần mười. Từ các đồng ruộng chung quanh thành, họ đem vào kho các phần của những thầy tế lễ và người Lê-vi mà luật pháp đã quy định, vì người Giu-đa hài lòng về sự phục vụ của những thầy tế lễ và người Lê-vi.
45Họ cùng với các ca sĩ và những người giữ cổng phục vụ Đức Chúa Trời và lo việc thanh tẩy theo lệnh của vua Đa-vít và vua Sa-lô-môn, con trai vua, quy định.⚓
46Vì ngày xưa, vào thời Đa-vít và A-sáp, đã có những người lãnh đạo đặc trách ca đoàn và soạn những bài ca ngợi, cảm tạ Đức Chúa Trời.
47Trong thời Xô-rô-ba-bên và Nê-hê-mi, cả Y-sơ-ra-ên đều cung cấp khẩu phần hằng ngày cho các ca sĩ và người gác cổng. Họ cũng để riêng khẩu phần cho người Lê-vi, và người Lê-vi để riêng khẩu phần cho các thầy tế lễ, con cháu A-rôn.

Priests and Levites
1These were the priests and Levites who returned with Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and with Joshua:
Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra,
2Amariah, Malluk, Hattush,
3Shekaniah, Rehum, Meremoth,
4Iddo, Ginnethon,⚓ Abijah,
5Mijamin,⚓ Moadiah, Bilgah,
6Shemaiah, Joiarib, Jedaiah,
7Sallu, Amok, Hilkiah and Jedaiah.
These were the leaders of the priests and their associates in the days of Joshua.
8The Levites were Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and also Mattaniah, who, together with his associates, was in charge of the songs of thanksgiving.
9Bakbukiah and Unni, their associates, stood opposite them in the services.
10Joshua was the father of Joiakim, Joiakim the father of Eliashib, Eliashib the father of Joiada,
11Joiada the father of Jonathan, and Jonathan the father of Jaddua.
12In the days of Joiakim, these were the heads of the priestly families:
of Seraiah’s family, Meraiah;
of Jeremiah’s, Hananiah;
13of Ezra’s, Meshullam;
of Amariah’s, Jehohanan;
14of Malluk’s, Jonathan;
of Shekaniah’s,⚓ Joseph;
15of Harim’s, Adna;
of Meremoth’s,⚓ Helkai;
16of Iddo’s, Zechariah;
of Ginnethon’s, Meshullam;
17of Abijah’s, Zikri;
of Miniamin’s and of Moadiah’s, Piltai;
18of Bilgah’s, Shammua;
of Shemaiah’s, Jehonathan;
19of Joiarib’s, Mattenai;
of Jedaiah’s, Uzzi;
20of Sallu’s, Kallai;
of Amok’s, Eber;
21of Hilkiah’s, Hashabiah;
of Jedaiah’s, Nethanel.
22The family heads of the Levites in the days of Eliashib, Joiada, Johanan and Jaddua, as well as those of the priests, were recorded in the reign of Darius the Persian.
23The family heads among the descendants of Levi up to the time of Johanan son of Eliashib were recorded in the book of the annals.
24And the leaders of the Levites were Hashabiah, Sherebiah, Jeshua son of Kadmiel, and their associates, who stood opposite them to give praise and thanksgiving, one section responding to the other, as prescribed by David the man of God.
25Mattaniah, Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon and Akkub were gatekeepers who guarded the storerooms at the gates.
26They served in the days of Joiakim son of Joshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the governor and of Ezra the priest, the teacher of the Law.
Dedication of the Wall of Jerusalem
27At the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem, the Levites were sought out from where they lived and were brought to Jerusalem to celebrate joyfully the dedication with songs of thanksgiving and with the music of cymbals, harps and lyres.
28The musicians also were brought together from the region around Jerusalem—from the villages of the Netophathites,
29from Beth Gilgal, and from the area of Geba and Azmaveth, for the musicians had built villages for themselves around Jerusalem.
30When the priests and Levites had purified themselves ceremonially, they purified the people, the gates and the wall.
31I had the leaders of Judah go up on top of⚓ the wall. I also assigned two large choirs to give thanks. One was to proceed on top of⚓ the wall to the right, toward the Dung Gate.
32Hoshaiah and half the leaders of Judah followed them,
33along with Azariah, Ezra, Meshullam,
34Judah, Benjamin, Shemaiah, Jeremiah,
35as well as some priests with trumpets, and also Zechariah son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micaiah, the son of Zakkur, the son of Asaph,
36and his associates—Shemaiah, Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, Judah and Hanani—with musical instruments prescribed by David the man of God. Ezra the teacher of the Law led the procession.
37At the Fountain Gate they continued directly up the steps of the City of David on the ascent to the wall and passed above the site of David’s palace to the Water Gate on the east.
38The second choir proceeded in the opposite direction. I followed them on top of⚓ the wall, together with half the people—past the Tower of the Ovens to the Broad Wall,
39over the Gate of Ephraim, the Jeshanah⚓ Gate, the Fish Gate, the Tower of Hananel and the Tower of the Hundred, as far as the Sheep Gate. At the Gate of the Guard they stopped.
40The two choirs that gave thanks then took their places in the house of God; so did I, together with half the officials,
41as well as the priests—Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah and Hananiah with their trumpets—
42and also Maaseiah, Shemaiah, Eleazar, Uzzi, Jehohanan, Malkijah, Elam and Ezer. The choirs sang under the direction of Jezrahiah.
43And on that day they offered great sacrifices, rejoicing because God had given them great joy. The women and children also rejoiced. The sound of rejoicing in Jerusalem could be heard far away.
44At that time men were appointed to be in charge of the storerooms for the contributions, firstfruits and tithes. From the fields around the towns they were to bring into the storerooms the portions required by the Law for the priests and the Levites, for Judah was pleased with the ministering priests and Levites.
45They performed the service of their God and the service of purification, as did also the musicians and gatekeepers, according to the commands of David and his son Solomon.
46For long ago, in the days of David and Asaph, there had been directors for the musicians and for the songs of praise and thanksgiving to God.
47So in the days of Zerubbabel and of Nehemiah, all Israel contributed the daily portions for the musicians and the gatekeepers. They also set aside the portion for the other Levites, and the Levites set aside the portion for the descendants of Aaron.
