1Then Isaac called Jacob and ⚓blessed him, and charged him, and said to him: ⚓“You shall not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan.
2⚓Arise, go to ⚓Padan Aram, to the house of ⚓Bethuel your mother’s father; and take yourself a wife from there of the daughters of ⚓Laban your mother’s brother.
3“May ⚓God Almighty bless you,
And make you ⚓fruitful and multiply you,
That you may be an assembly of peoples;
4And give you ⚓the blessing of Abraham,
To you and your descendants with you,
That you may inherit the land
⚓In which you are a stranger,
Which God gave to Abraham.”
5So Isaac sent Jacob away, and he went to Padan Aram, to Laban the son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, the mother of Jacob and Esau.
Esau Marries Mahalath
6Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him away to Padan Aram to take himself a wife from there, and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, “You shall not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan,”
7and that Jacob had obeyed his father and his mother and had gone to Padan Aram.
8Also Esau saw ⚓that the daughters of Canaan did not please his father Isaac.
9So Esau went to Ishmael and ⚓took ⚓Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham’s son, ⚓the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife in addition to the wives he had.
Jacob’s Vow at Bethel
10Now Jacob ⚓went out from Beersheba and went toward ⚓Haran.
11So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that place and put it at his head, and he lay down in that place to sleep.
12Then he ⚓dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there ⚓the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.
13⚓And behold, the Lord stood above it and said: ⚓“I am the Lord God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; ⚓the land on which you lie I will give to you and your ⚓descendants.
14Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad ⚓to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and ⚓in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.
15Behold, ⚓I am with you and will ⚓keep you wherever you go, and will ⚓bring you back to this land; for ⚓I will not leave you ⚓until I have done what I have spoken to you.”
16Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in ⚓this place, and I did not know it.”
17And he was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!”
18Then Jacob rose early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put at his head, ⚓set it up as a pillar, ⚓and poured oil on top of it.
19And he called the name of ⚓that place Bethel; but the name of that city had been Luz previously.
20⚓Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If ⚓God will be with me, and keep me in this way that I am going, and give me ⚓bread to eat and clothing to put on,
21so that ⚓I come back to my father’s house in peace, ⚓then the Lord shall be my God.
22And this stone which I have set as a pillar ⚓shall be God’s house, ⚓and of all that You give me I will surely give a tenth to You.”

1以撒叫了雅各來，為他祝福，並吩咐他說：「你不要娶迦南的女子為妻。
2你起身往巴旦‧亞蘭去，到你外祖父彼土利的家，從你舅父拉班的女兒中娶一位作你的妻子。
3願全能的上帝賜福給你，使你生養眾多，成為許多民族，
4將應許亞伯拉罕的福賜給你和你的後裔，使你承受你所寄居的地為業，就是上帝賜給亞伯拉罕的地。」
5以撒送雅各走了，雅各就往巴旦‧亞蘭去，到亞蘭人彼土利的兒子拉班那裏，拉班是利百加的哥哥，利百加是雅各和以掃的母親。
以掃另娶一妻
6以掃見以撒已經為雅各祝福，而且送他往巴旦‧亞蘭去，在那裏娶妻，並且見以撒祝福雅各的時候吩咐他說：「不要娶迦南的女子為妻」，
7又見雅各聽從父母的話往巴旦‧亞蘭去了，
8以掃就看出他父親以撒看迦南女子不順眼。
9於是他往以實瑪利那裏去，在兩個妻子之外， 又娶了瑪哈拉為妻，她是亞伯拉罕兒子以實瑪利的女兒，是尼拜約的妹妹。
雅各在伯特利做的夢
10雅各離開別是巴，往哈蘭去。
11到了一個地方，因為已經日落，就在那裏過夜。他拾起那地方的一塊石頭枕在頭下，就躺在那地方。
12他做夢，看哪，一個梯子立在地上，梯子的頂端直伸到天；看哪，上帝的使者在梯子上，上去下來。
13看哪，耶和華站在梯子上面 ⚓，說：「我是耶和華－你祖父亞伯拉罕的上帝，以撒的上帝。你現在躺臥之地，我要將它賜給你和你的後裔。
14你的後裔必像地上的塵沙，必向東西南北開展；地上萬族必因你和你的後裔得福。
15看哪，我必與你同在，無論你往哪裏去，我必保佑你，領你歸回這地。我總不離棄你，直到我實現了對你所說的話。」
16雅各睡醒了，說：「耶和華真的在這裏，我竟不知道！」
17他就懼怕，說：「這地方何等可畏！這不是別的，是上帝的殿，是天的門。」
18雅各清早起來，拿起枕在頭下的石頭，立作柱子，澆油在上面。
19他給那地方起名叫伯特利⚓；那地方原先名叫路斯。
20雅各許願說：「上帝若與我同在，在我所行的路上保佑我，給我食物吃，衣服穿，
21使我平平安安回到我父親的家，我就必以耶和華為我的上帝。
22我所立為柱子的這塊石頭必作上帝的殿；凡你所賜給我的，我必將十分之一獻給你。」
