David Established at Jerusalem

¹Now ⚓Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, with masons and carpenters, to build him a house. ²So David knew that the Lord had established him as king over Israel, for his kingdom was ⚓highly exalted for the sake of His people Israel.
³Then David took more wives in Jerusalem, and David begot more sons and daughters. ⁴And ⚓these are the names of his children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, ⁵Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet, ⁶Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, ⁷Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.

The Philistines Defeated

⁸Now when the Philistines heard that ⚓David had been anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David. And David heard of it and went out against them. ⁹Then the Philistines went and made a raid ⚓on the Valley of Rephaim. ¹⁰And David ⚓inquired of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?”
The Lord said to him, “Go up, for I will deliver them into your hand.”
¹¹So they went up to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there. Then David said, “God has broken through my enemies by my hand like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Perazim. ¹²And when they left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.
¹³⚓Then the Philistines once again made a raid on the valley. ¹⁴Therefore David inquired again of God, and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them; circle around them, ⚓and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees. ¹⁵And it shall be, when you hear a sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall go out to battle, for God has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.” ¹⁶So David did as God commanded him, and they drove back the army of the Philistines from Gibeon as far as Gezer. ¹⁷Then ⚓the fame of David went out into all lands, and the Lord⚓brought the fear of him upon all nations.

Đa-vít chiến thắng dân Phi-li-tin

¹Hi-ram, vua Ty-rơ sai sứ giả đem một đoàn thợ nề, thợ mộc, chở theo nhiều gỗ bá hương để giúp xây cất một cung điện cho vua Đa-vít. ²Đa-vít nhận thấy lý do Chúa đã lập mình làm vua dân Y-sơ-ra-ên và Ngài làm cho vương quốc mình cường thịnh, chính là để đem lại niềm hân hoan cho dân Chúa.
³Sau khi đóng đô tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, Đa-vít cưới thêm một số hoàng hậu và sinh thêm nhiều con trai, con gái.
^4-7Đây là tên các con trai Đa-vít sinh tại Giê-ru-sa-lem:
Sa-mua, Sô-báp, Na-than, Sa-lô-môn, I-ba, Ê-li-sua, Ên-phê-lết, Nô-ga, Nê-phát, Gia-phia, Ê-li-sa-ma, Bê-ên-gia-đa, và Ê-li-phê-lết.
⁸Nghe tin Đa-vít đã lên ngai làm vua nước Y-sơ-ra-ên, quân Phi-li-tin kéo toàn lực tiến công để bắt Đa-vít. Được tin tình báo, Đa-vít lập tức đem quân nghênh chiến. ⁹Thấy quân Phi-li-tin đang tiến kích thung lũng. Rê-pha-im, ¹⁰Đa-vít cầu hỏi Chúa: "Nếu con xuất quân tiến công, Chúa có cho con chiến thắng địch không?" Chúa đáp: "Con cứ tiến công, ta sẽ cho con chiến thắng!"
¹¹Vậy, Đa-vít tiến công và tiêu diệt quân đội Phi-li-tin, nên ông hân hoan ca ngợi Chúa: "Thượng Đế đã dùng ta quét sạch địch quân như nước phá vỡ bờ đê." Đa-vít gọi địa điểm này là Ba-anh Phê-ra-xim (chỗ nước phá vỡ bờ). ¹²Quân Y-sơ-ra-ên thu được nhiều thần tượng mà quân Phi-li-tin bỏ lại; Đa-vít ra lệnh đem đốt sạch.
¹³Dân Phi-li-tin lại đem quân đánh vào thung lũng ấy một lần nữa. ¹⁴Đa-vít lại cầu hỏi Chúa. Chúa bảo: "Con hãy đi bọc quanh rừng dâu mà tiến công. ¹⁵Khi nào con nghe tiếng chân bước trên các ngọn dâu, con hãy xung phong vì Thượng Đế sẽ dẫn đường cho con và tiêu diệt địch quân."
¹⁶Đa-vít vâng lời Chúa, và đánh tan quân đội Phi-li-tin từ Ghi-bê-ôn đến Ghê-xe. ¹⁷Đa-vít nổi danh khắp nơi và Chúa khiến tất cả các quốc gia đều kính sợ người.
