David Established at Jerusalem

¹Now ⚓Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, with masons and carpenters, to build him a house. ²So David knew that the Lord had established him as king over Israel, for his kingdom was ⚓highly exalted for the sake of His people Israel.
³Then David took more wives in Jerusalem, and David begot more sons and daughters. ⁴And ⚓these are the names of his children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, ⁵Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet, ⁶Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, ⁷Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.

The Philistines Defeated

⁸Now when the Philistines heard that ⚓David had been anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David. And David heard of it and went out against them. ⁹Then the Philistines went and made a raid ⚓on the Valley of Rephaim. ¹⁰And David ⚓inquired of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?”
The Lord said to him, “Go up, for I will deliver them into your hand.”
¹¹So they went up to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there. Then David said, “God has broken through my enemies by my hand like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Perazim. ¹²And when they left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.
¹³⚓Then the Philistines once again made a raid on the valley. ¹⁴Therefore David inquired again of God, and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them; circle around them, ⚓and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees. ¹⁵And it shall be, when you hear a sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall go out to battle, for God has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.” ¹⁶So David did as God commanded him, and they drove back the army of the Philistines from Gibeon as far as Gezer. ¹⁷Then ⚓the fame of David went out into all lands, and the Lord⚓brought the fear of him upon all nations.

¹Hi-ram, vua thành Ty-rơ, gởi sứ giả đến cùng vua Đa-vít và cũng gởi gỗ bá hương, thợ nề, thợ mộc để xây cung điện cho vua. ²Đa-vít biết rằng CHÚA đã thiết lập ông làm vua trên Y-sơ-ra-ên và vương quốc mình được hưng thịnh là vì dân Y-sơ-ra-ên của Ngài.
³Khi ở tại Giê-ru-sa-lem vua Đa-vít lấy thêm vợ và có thêm con trai, con gái. ⁴Đây là tên những người con sinh tại Giê-ru-sa-lem: Sa-mua, Sô-báp, Na-than, Sa-lô-môn, ⁵Gi-ba, Ê-li-sua, Ên-bê-lết, ⁶Nô-ga, Nê-phết, Gia-phia, ⁷Ê-li-sa-ma, Bê-ên-gia-đa và Ê-li-phê-lết.
⁸Khi dân Phi-li-tin nghe tin Đa-vít được xức dầu tấn phong làm vua trên toàn thể Y-sơ-ra-ên, toàn quân Phi-li-tin đi lên tìm Đa-vít. Vua Đa-vít nghe thế, đi ra đón chúng nó. ⁹Bấy giờ quân Phi-li-tin đến và cướp phá thung lũng Rê-pha-im. ¹⁰Vua Đa-vít cầu vấn Đức Chúa Trời: “Con có nên đi ra đánh quân Phi-li-tin không? Ngài có trao chúng nó vào tay con không?” CHÚA đáp: “Hãy đi ra, Ta sẽ trao chúng nó vào tay con.”
¹¹Vậy, họ tiến lên Ba-anh Phê-ra-xim và vua Đa-vít đánh bại quân Phi-li-tin ở đó. Đa-vít bảo: “Đức Chúa Trời đã dùng tay ta đánh tan quân thù như nước vỡ bờ, cho nên người ta gọi chỗ đó là Ba-anh Phê-ra-xim.” ¹²Quân Phi-li-tin bỏ lại tại đó các thần tượng của mình; vua Đa-vít ra lệnh đốt chúng trong lửa.
¹³Một lần nữa, quân Phi-li-tin lại cướp phá thung lũng. ¹⁴Vua Đa-vít lại cầu vấn Đức Chúa Trời; Ngài đáp lời rằng: “Đừng đi lên theo chúng nó, nhưng hãy đi vòng quanh và tấn công chúng tại phía trước bụi cây bóng nước. ¹⁵Khi ngươi nghe tiếng chân bước trên đầu cây bóng nước, hãy ra trận vì Đức Chúa Trời sẽ đi ra trước ngươi để đánh quân đội Phi-li-tin.” ¹⁶Vua Đa-vít làm y như Đức Chúa Trời đã truyền; người đánh tan quân đội Phi-li-tin từ Ga-ba-ôn đến Ghê-xe. ¹⁷Danh tiếng vua Đa-vít lan truyền khắp các vùng và CHÚA làm tất cả các nước đều sợ hãi vua.
