David Prepares to Build the Temple

¹Then David said, ⚓“This is the house of the Lord God, and this is the altar of burnt offering for Israel.” ²So David commanded to gather the ⚓aliens who were in the land of Israel; and he appointed masons to ⚓cut hewn stones to build the house of God. ³And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails of the doors of the gates and for the joints, and bronze in abundance ⚓beyond measure, ⁴and cedar trees in abundance; for the ⚓Sidonians and those from Tyre brought much cedar wood to David.
⁵Now David said, ⚓“Solomon my son is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built for the Lordmust be exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious throughout all countries. I will now make preparation for it.” So David made abundant preparations before his death.
⁶Then he called for his son Solomon, and charged him to build a house for the Lord God of Israel. ⁷And David said to Solomon: “My son, as for me, ⚓it was in my mind to build a house ⚓to the name of the Lord my God; ⁸but the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ⚓‘You have shed much blood and have made great wars; you shall not build a house for My name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in My sight. ⁹⚓Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him ⚓rest from all his enemies all around. His name shall be Solomon, for I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days. ¹⁰⚓He shall build a house for My name, and ⚓he shall be My son, and I will be his Father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’ ¹¹Now, my son, may ⚓the Lord be with you; and may you prosper, and build the house of the Lord your God, as He has said to you. ¹²Only may the Lord⚓give you wisdom and understanding, and give you charge concerning Israel, that you may keep the law of the Lord your God. ¹³⚓Then you will prosper, if you take care to fulfill the statutes and judgments with which the Lord charged Moses concerning Israel. ⚓Be strong and of good courage; do not fear nor be dismayed. ¹⁴Indeed I have taken much trouble to prepare for the house of the Lord one hundred thousand talents of gold and one million talents of silver, and bronze and iron ⚓beyond measure, for it is so abundant. I have prepared timber and stone also, and you may add to them. ¹⁵Moreover there are workmen with you in abundance: woodsmen and stonecutters, and all types of skillful men for every kind of work. ¹⁶Of gold and silver and bronze and iron there is no limit. Arise and begin working, and ⚓the Lord be with you.”
¹⁷David also commanded all the ⚓leaders of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying, ¹⁸“Is not the Lord your God with you? ⚓And has He not given you rest on every side? For He has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land is subdued before the Lord and before His people. ¹⁹Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God. Therefore arise and build the sanctuary of the Lord God, to ⚓bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord and the holy articles of God into the house that is to be built ⚓for the name of the Lord.”

⁵Đa-vít thưa với Chúa: "Sa-lô-môn, con trai con, hãy còn thơ dại, mà Đền thờ sẽ xây cất cho Chúa phải vĩ đại, nguy nga, đẹp đẽ nhất trong đất nước. Vậy, con xin Chúa cho phép con chuẩn bị cho công trình kiến thiết này!" Vậy, Đa-vít tồn trữ vật liệu thật dồi dào trước ngày qua đời.
⁶Đa-vít cho gọi con trai là Sa-lô-môn đến và truyền bảo Sa-lô-môn xây cất Đền thờ cho Chúa Hàng Hữu, Chân Thần của Y-sơ-ra-ên. ⁷Đa-vít bảo Sa-lô-môn: "Con ạ! Cha dự định xây cất một Đền thờ cho Thượng Đế Hằng Hữu ⁸nhưng Chúa bảo cha: 'Ngươi đã làm máu chảy nhiều trong các cuộc chiến tranh lớn, vì thế, ngươi không được cất Đền thờ cho Danh Ta. ⁹Nhưng con trai ruột ngươi sẽ là người hiếu hòa, Ta sẽ cho nó hưởng thái bình. Các nước thù nghịch xung quanh sẽ không tiến công vào nước nó; tôn nó là Sa-lô-môn. Ta sẽ cho Y-sơ-ra-ên hưởng thái bình suốt đời nó, ¹⁰Chính nó sẽ xây cất Đền thờ cho Danh Ta. Ta sẽ nhận nó làm con. Ta sẽ củng cố ngôi nước nó mãi mãi.' ¹¹Con ơi, bây giờ cầu xin Chúa Hằng Hữu ở cùng con và giúp con thành công. Con sẽ xây cất Đền thờ Thượng Đế Hằng Hữu của con, đúng như lời Ngài phán dặn. ¹²Cầu Chúa ban cho con đủ khôn ngoan sáng suốt, giúp con lãnh đạo quốc dân, để con vâng giữ luật Chúa. ¹³Nếu con cẩn thận tuân hành luật pháp và mệnh lệnh Chúa đã truyền cho Y-sơ-ra-ên qua Mai-sen, thì con sẽ thành công rực rỡ. Con hãy kiên tâm vững chí! Đừng sợ sệt kinh hãi. ¹⁴Cha đã chịu biết bao gian khổ để thu trữ cho việc xây cất Đền Chúa 3.450 tấn vàng⚓ và 34.500 tấn bạc⚓ vô số đồng, sắt, với một số lớn gỗ và đá nhưng con cũng cần đóng góp thêm.
¹⁵Hơn nữa, con có đầy đủ nhân công, thợ đá, thợ nề, thợ mộc, và người chuyên môn đủ các ngành, ¹⁶và vô số vàng, bạc, đồng, sắt. Hãy bắt tay vào việc thì Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ ở cùng con!"
¹⁷Vua Đa-vít cũng dặn các quan lớn trong triều hết lòng ủng hộ Sa-lô-môn, con mình: ¹⁸“Thượng Đế Hằng Hữu ở với các ngươi, ban cho các ngươi sự thái bình với các nước lân bang. Tất cả các dân tộc trong nước đều suy phục ta, toàn quốc đều phục Chúa và dân Ngài. ¹⁹Vậy, bây giờ hãy hết lòng, hết ý tìm cầu Thượng Đế Hằng Hữu của các ngươi. Hãy vùng dậy, kiến thiết Đền thánh cho Chúa, để rước Rương giao ước của Ngài, và các dụng cụ đã chế sẵn, vào Đền thờ Ngài.
