David Prepares to Build the Temple
1Then David said, ⚓“This is the house of the Lord God, and this is the altar of burnt offering for Israel.”
2So David commanded to gather the ⚓aliens who were in the land of Israel; and he appointed masons to ⚓cut hewn stones to build the house of God.
3And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails of the doors of the gates and for the joints, and bronze in abundance ⚓beyond measure,
4and cedar trees in abundance; for the ⚓Sidonians and those from Tyre brought much cedar wood to David.
5Now David said, ⚓“Solomon my son is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built for the Lordmust be exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious throughout all countries. I will now make preparation for it.” So David made abundant preparations before his death.
6Then he called for his son Solomon, and charged him to build a house for the Lord God of Israel.
7And David said to Solomon: “My son, as for me, ⚓it was in my mind to build a house ⚓to the name of the Lord my God;
8but the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ⚓‘You have shed much blood and have made great wars; you shall not build a house for My name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in My sight.
9⚓Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him ⚓rest from all his enemies all around. His name shall be Solomon, for I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days.
10⚓He shall build a house for My name, and ⚓he shall be My son, and I will be his Father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’
11Now, my son, may ⚓the Lord be with you; and may you prosper, and build the house of the Lord your God, as He has said to you.
12Only may the Lord⚓give you wisdom and understanding, and give you charge concerning Israel, that you may keep the law of the Lord your God.
13⚓Then you will prosper, if you take care to fulfill the statutes and judgments with which the Lord charged Moses concerning Israel. ⚓Be strong and of good courage; do not fear nor be dismayed.
14Indeed I have taken much trouble to prepare for the house of the Lord one hundred thousand talents of gold and one million talents of silver, and bronze and iron ⚓beyond measure, for it is so abundant. I have prepared timber and stone also, and you may add to them.
15Moreover there are workmen with you in abundance: woodsmen and stonecutters, and all types of skillful men for every kind of work.
16Of gold and silver and bronze and iron there is no limit. Arise and begin working, and ⚓the Lord be with you.”
17David also commanded all the ⚓leaders of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying,
18“Is not the Lord your God with you? ⚓And has He not given you rest on every side? For He has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land is subdued before the Lord and before His people.
19Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God. Therefore arise and build the sanctuary of the Lord God, to ⚓bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord and the holy articles of God into the house that is to be built ⚓for the name of the Lord.”

1Bấy giờ vua Đa-vít tuyên bố: “Chỗ này sẽ là nhà CHÚA, là Đức Chúa Trời; và bàn thờ để người Y-sơ-ra-ên dâng tế lễ thiêu cũng sẽ ở đây.”
Chuẩn Bị Xây Đền Thờ
2Vua Đa-vít truyền tập họp tất cả những ngoại kiều trên lãnh thổ Y-sơ-ra-ên, đặt thợ đá đẽo những phiến đá để xây nhà Đức Chúa Trời.
3Vua cung cấp rất nhiều sắt để làm đinh cho các cửa cổng và làm móc, còn đồng thì nhiều không thể cân được.
4Gỗ bá hương nhiều vô số vì người Si-đôn và Ty-rơ đem rất nhiều gỗ bá hương cho vua Đa-vít.
5Vua Đa-vít nói: “Sa-lô-môn, con ta còn trẻ, thiếu kinh nghiệm mà đền của CHÚA thì phải xây vĩ đại, nguy nga và nổi tiếng khắp các nước, vậy ta phải chuẩn bị cho nó.” Vì thế vua Đa-vít chuẩn bị rất chu đáo trước khi qua đời.
6Vua cho gọi thái tử Sa-lô-môn, truyền lịnh cho người xây đền thờ CHÚA, là Đức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên.
7Vua Đa-vít nói với Sa-lô-môn: “Hỡi con ta, lòng ta muốn xây một đền cho danh CHÚA, là Đức Chúa Trời ta.
8Nhưng lời CHÚA phán với ta, ‘ngươi đã làm đổ máu nhiều, đã đánh nhiều trận chiến, ngươi sẽ không xây đền thờ cho danh Ta vì trước mặt Ta, ngươi đã làm đổ máu nhiều trên đất.
9Kìa, một đứa con của ngươi, nó sẽ là một người được yên ổn, Ta sẽ cho nó được yên ổn, không bị kẻ thù xung quanh quấy nhiễu. Thật vậy, Sa-lô-môn sẽ là người đó; trong thời người Ta sẽ ban cho Y-sơ-ra-ên bình an, yên ổn.
10Chính người sẽ xây một đền thờ cho danh Ta; người sẽ là con Ta, Ta sẽ là cha người. Ta sẽ lập ngôi vua cho người trên Y-sơ-ra-ên muôn đời.’
11Vậy, hỡi con ta, nguyện CHÚA ở cùng con, giúp con thành công trong việc xây đền thờ CHÚA, là Đức Chúa Trời của con, y như lời Ngài đã phán về con.
12Nguyện CHÚA cũng ban cho con khôn ngoan, sáng suốt khi đặt con lãnh đạo Y-sơ-ra-ên, để con tuân giữ kinh luật của CHÚA, là Đức Chúa Trời của con.
13Như thế con sẽ thành công nếu con cẩn thận tuân theo các qui luật và sắc lệnh CHÚA truyền Môi-se ban cho Y-sơ-ra-ên. Hãy mạnh mẽ và can đảm lên, chớ sợ hãi và nản chí.
14Này, ta đã khổ nhọc cung cấp cho đền thờ CHÚA ba ngàn bốn trăm năm chục tấn vàng, ba mươi bốn ngàn năm trăm tấn bạc, đồng và sắt thì không thể cân được; ta cũng cung cấp vô số gỗ và đá, con có thể thêm vào.
15Con cũng có nhiều công nhân, thợ đá, thợ nề, thợ mộc và những người thông thạo đủ mọi ngành nghề;
16Những người thợ vàng, thợ bạc, thợ đồng, thợ sắt thì vô số. Hãy đứng lên và làm việc, CHÚA sẽ ở cùng con.”
17Vua Đa-vít ra lệnh cho tất cả những người lãnh đạo Y-sơ-ra-ên phải giúp đỡ thái tử Sa-lô-môn.
18Vua bảo: “Không phải CHÚA, là Đức Chúa Trời của các ngươi đang ở với các ngươi sao? Ngài ban cho các ngươi bốn bề yên ổn. Vì Ngài đã ban cho ta cư dân trong nước và lãnh thổ này đã khuất phục trước mặt CHÚA và trước mặt dân Ngài.
19Vậy, bây giờ hãy hết lòng, hết linh hồn tìm kiếm CHÚA, là Đức Chúa Trời các ngươi. Hãy đứng lên, xây thánh điện của CHÚA, Đức Chúa Trời các ngươi. Hãy đem rương giao ước của CHÚA và các vật thánh của Đức Chúa Trời vào đền mà các ngươi xây cho danh CHÚA.”
