David Prepares to Build the Temple

¹Then David said, ⚓“This is the house of the Lord God, and this is the altar of burnt offering for Israel.” ²So David commanded to gather the ⚓aliens who were in the land of Israel; and he appointed masons to ⚓cut hewn stones to build the house of God. ³And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails of the doors of the gates and for the joints, and bronze in abundance ⚓beyond measure, ⁴and cedar trees in abundance; for the ⚓Sidonians and those from Tyre brought much cedar wood to David.
⁵Now David said, ⚓“Solomon my son is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built for the Lordmust be exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious throughout all countries. I will now make preparation for it.” So David made abundant preparations before his death.
⁶Then he called for his son Solomon, and charged him to build a house for the Lord God of Israel. ⁷And David said to Solomon: “My son, as for me, ⚓it was in my mind to build a house ⚓to the name of the Lord my God; ⁸but the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ⚓‘You have shed much blood and have made great wars; you shall not build a house for My name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in My sight. ⁹⚓Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him ⚓rest from all his enemies all around. His name shall be Solomon, for I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days. ¹⁰⚓He shall build a house for My name, and ⚓he shall be My son, and I will be his Father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’ ¹¹Now, my son, may ⚓the Lord be with you; and may you prosper, and build the house of the Lord your God, as He has said to you. ¹²Only may the Lord⚓give you wisdom and understanding, and give you charge concerning Israel, that you may keep the law of the Lord your God. ¹³⚓Then you will prosper, if you take care to fulfill the statutes and judgments with which the Lord charged Moses concerning Israel. ⚓Be strong and of good courage; do not fear nor be dismayed. ¹⁴Indeed I have taken much trouble to prepare for the house of the Lord one hundred thousand talents of gold and one million talents of silver, and bronze and iron ⚓beyond measure, for it is so abundant. I have prepared timber and stone also, and you may add to them. ¹⁵Moreover there are workmen with you in abundance: woodsmen and stonecutters, and all types of skillful men for every kind of work. ¹⁶Of gold and silver and bronze and iron there is no limit. Arise and begin working, and ⚓the Lord be with you.”
¹⁷David also commanded all the ⚓leaders of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying, ¹⁸“Is not the Lord your God with you? ⚓And has He not given you rest on every side? For He has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land is subdued before the Lord and before His people. ¹⁹Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God. Therefore arise and build the sanctuary of the Lord God, to ⚓bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord and the holy articles of God into the house that is to be built ⚓for the name of the Lord.”

¹大衛說：「這是耶和華上帝的殿，這是以色列獻燔祭的壇。」

籌備建殿

²大衛吩咐人召集住以色列地的寄居者，又派石匠鑿石頭，要建造上帝的殿。 ³大衛預備許多鐵，要做門上的釘子和鈎子，又預備許多銅，多得無法可秤； ⁴還有無數的香柏木，因為西頓人和推羅人給大衛運了許多香柏木來。 ⁵大衛說：「我兒子所羅門還年幼脆弱，要為耶和華建造的殿宇必須高大輝煌，使名聲榮耀傳遍萬國，所以我要為殿預備。」於是，大衛在未死之前預備了許多材料。
⁶大衛召了他兒子所羅門來，吩咐他為耶和華－以色列的上帝建造殿宇。 ⁷大衛對所羅門說：「我兒啊，我心裏本想為耶和華－我上帝的名建造殿宇， ⁸可是耶和華的話臨到我說：『你流了許多的血，打了多次大仗；你不可為我的名建造殿宇，因為你在我面前使許多血流在地上。 ⁹看哪，你要生一個兒子，他必成為安寧的人；我必使他得享安寧，不被四圍仇敵擾亂。他的名字要叫所羅門⚓，在他的日子，我必使以色列平安康泰。 ¹⁰他必為我的名建造殿宇。他要作我的子，我要作他的父。我必堅定他國度的王位，使他治理以色列，直到永遠。』 ¹¹我兒啊，現今願耶和華與你同在，使你亨通，建造耶和華－你上帝的殿，正如他指着你所說的。 ¹²但願耶和華賜你聰明智慧，好按着他吩咐你的去治理以色列，遵行耶和華－你上帝的律法。 ¹³那時候，你若謹守遵行耶和華藉摩西吩咐以色列的律例典章，就得亨通。你當剛強壯膽，不要懼怕，也不要驚惶。 ¹⁴看哪，我辛苦地為耶和華的殿預備了十萬他連得金子，一百萬他連得銀子，銅和鐵多得無法可秤；我也預備了木頭、石頭，你還可以增添。 ¹⁵你有許多工匠，就是石匠、木匠，和一切能做各樣工的巧匠， ¹⁶以及無數的金銀銅鐵。你當起來做工，願耶和華與你同在。」
¹⁷大衛又吩咐以色列的眾官長幫助他兒子所羅門： ¹⁸「耶和華－你們的上帝不是與你們同在嗎？他不是使你們四圍都平安嗎？因他已將這地的居民交在我手中，這地已在耶和華與他百姓面前制伏了。 ¹⁹現在你們應當立定心意，尋求耶和華－你們的上帝。你們當起來建造耶和華上帝的聖所，好將耶和華的約櫃和上帝神聖的器皿都搬進為耶和華的名建造的殿裏。」
