David Prepares to Build the Temple
1Then David said, ⚓“This is the house of the Lord God, and this is the altar of burnt offering for Israel.”
2So David commanded to gather the ⚓aliens who were in the land of Israel; and he appointed masons to ⚓cut hewn stones to build the house of God.
3And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails of the doors of the gates and for the joints, and bronze in abundance ⚓beyond measure,
4and cedar trees in abundance; for the ⚓Sidonians and those from Tyre brought much cedar wood to David.
5Now David said, ⚓“Solomon my son is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built for the Lordmust be exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious throughout all countries. I will now make preparation for it.” So David made abundant preparations before his death.
6Then he called for his son Solomon, and charged him to build a house for the Lord God of Israel.
7And David said to Solomon: “My son, as for me, ⚓it was in my mind to build a house ⚓to the name of the Lord my God;
8but the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ⚓‘You have shed much blood and have made great wars; you shall not build a house for My name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in My sight.
9⚓Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him ⚓rest from all his enemies all around. His name shall be Solomon, for I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days.
10⚓He shall build a house for My name, and ⚓he shall be My son, and I will be his Father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’
11Now, my son, may ⚓the Lord be with you; and may you prosper, and build the house of the Lord your God, as He has said to you.
12Only may the Lord⚓give you wisdom and understanding, and give you charge concerning Israel, that you may keep the law of the Lord your God.
13⚓Then you will prosper, if you take care to fulfill the statutes and judgments with which the Lord charged Moses concerning Israel. ⚓Be strong and of good courage; do not fear nor be dismayed.
14Indeed I have taken much trouble to prepare for the house of the Lord one hundred thousand talents of gold and one million talents of silver, and bronze and iron ⚓beyond measure, for it is so abundant. I have prepared timber and stone also, and you may add to them.
15Moreover there are workmen with you in abundance: woodsmen and stonecutters, and all types of skillful men for every kind of work.
16Of gold and silver and bronze and iron there is no limit. Arise and begin working, and ⚓the Lord be with you.”
17David also commanded all the ⚓leaders of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying,
18“Is not the Lord your God with you? ⚓And has He not given you rest on every side? For He has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land is subdued before the Lord and before His people.
19Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God. Therefore arise and build the sanctuary of the Lord God, to ⚓bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord and the holy articles of God into the house that is to be built ⚓for the name of the Lord.”

Đa-vít chuẩn bị việc xây cất đền thờ
1Đa vít nói: “Đây là đền thờ của Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời, và đây là bàn thờ để dân Y-sơ-ra-ên dâng tế lễ thiêu.”
2Đa-vít truyền lệnh tập hợp các người nước ngoài đang ở trong đất Y-sơ-ra-ên, rồi chỉ định họ làm thợ đá để chẻ đá xây cất đền thờ của Đức Chúa Trời.
3Đa-vít cũng dự bị nhiều sắt để làm đinh, bản lề cửa; còn đồng thì rất nhiều, không ai cân hết được.
4Gỗ bá hương nhiều vô số, vì dân Si-đôn và Ty-rơ chở rất nhiều gỗ bá hương đến cho vua Đa-vít.
5Đa-vít nói: “Sa-lô-môn, con trai ta, hãy còn trẻ và thiếu kinh nghiệm, mà đền thờ sẽ xây cất cho Đức Giê-hô-va thì phải rất nguy nga, lộng lẫy và nổi tiếng khắp nơi. Vậy, ta phải chuẩn bị cho nó.” Vì thế, Đa-vít chuẩn bị rất nhiều vật liệu trước khi qua đời.
Đa-vít giao cho Sa-lô-môn và các nhà lãnh đạo Y-sơ-ra-ên trách nhiệm xây đền thờ
6Bấy giờ, Đa-vít gọi con trai mình là Sa-lô-môn đến và truyền phải xây cất đền thờ cho Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên.
7Đa-vít nói với Sa-lô-môn: “Con ơi, cha có ý định xây cất một đền thờ cho danh Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời của cha.⚓
8Nhưng lời của Đức Giê-hô-va phán với cha rằng: ‘Con đã làm đổ máu quá nhiều, đã đánh nhiều trận chiến lớn nên con sẽ không được xây cất đền thờ cho danh Ta, vì con đã làm đổ máu quá nhiều trên đất trước mặt Ta,
9Kìa, con trai mà con sẽ sinh ra, nó sẽ là người của hòa bình. Ta sẽ ban hòa bình cho nó, các kẻ thù chung quanh sẽ không còn quấy nhiễu nó; vì thế, tên nó là Sa-lô-môn.⚓ Trong đời nó, Ta sẽ ban hòa bình an ổn cho Y-sơ-ra-ên.
10Nó sẽ xây cất đền thờ cho danh Ta; nó sẽ làm con trai Ta và Ta sẽ làm cha nó. Ta sẽ lập ngôi nước nó vững bền đời đời trên Y-sơ-ra-ên.’
11Nầy con trai ta, giờ đây, xin Đức Giê-hô-va ở với con và giúp con thành công trong việc xây cất đền thờ cho Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời của con, đúng như lời Ngài đã phán về con.
12Xin Đức Giê-hô-va ban cho con sự khôn ngoan thông sáng để con cai trị trên Y-sơ-ra-ên và tuân giữ luật pháp của Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời của con.
13Nếu con cẩn thận làm theo các lề luật và mệnh lệnh mà Đức Giê-hô-va đã phán bảo Môi-se truyền cho Y-sơ-ra-ên thì con sẽ được thành công. Hãy mạnh dạn và can đảm! Đừng sợ hãi, đừng nao núng! ⚓
14Nầy, cha đã chịu bao gian khổ để chuẩn bị cho đền thờ của Đức Giê-hô-va ba nghìn tấn vàng, ba mươi nghìn tấn bạc; còn đồng và sắt thì không thể cân hết được, vì nhiều quá. Cha cũng chuẩn bị gỗ và đá nữa, nhưng con phải thêm vào nữa.
15Hơn nữa, con có nhiều nhân công, thợ đá, thợ nề, thợ mộc, đủ người thành thạo các thứ công việc;
16thợ vàng, bạc, đồng, và sắt thì nhiều vô số. Nào, hãy bắt tay vào việc! Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ ở với con.”
17Đa-vít cũng truyền dặn tất cả các nhà lãnh đạo Y-sơ-ra-ên giúp đỡ Sa-lô-môn, con mình:
18“Chẳng phải Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời các ngươi ở với các ngươi sao? Ngài đã ban cho các ngươi được an ổn tứ phía. Vì Ngài đã phó dân cư trong xứ vào tay ta, và xứ sở nầy phải khuất phục trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va và dân Ngài.
19Vậy bây giờ, hãy hết lòng hết ý tìm cầu Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời của các ngươi. Hãy bắt đầu xây cất đền thánh cho Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời, để rước Hòm Giao Ước của Đức Giê-hô-va và các dụng cụ thánh của Đức Chúa Trời vào trong đền thờ được xây cất cho danh của Đức Giê-hô-va.”
