A Sabbath-Rest for the People of God

1Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. 2For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed. 3Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said,
“So I declared on oath in my anger,
‘They shall never enter my rest.’ ”
And yet his works have been finished since the creation of the world.
4For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words: “On the seventh day God rested from all his works.” 5And again in the passage above he says, “They shall never enter my rest.”
6Therefore since it still remains for some to enter that rest, and since those who formerly had the good news proclaimed to them did not go in because of their disobedience, 7God again set a certain day, calling it “Today.” This he did when a long time later he spoke through David, as in the passage already quoted:
“Today, if you hear his voice,
   do not harden your hearts.”
8For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. 9There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. 11Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.
12For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
14Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

1Vajtswv coglus tseg rau peb hais tias nws yuav pub peb mus nrog nws so. Yog li ntawd, peb sawvdaws yuav tsum ceevfaj, nyob tsam nej cov muaj qee leej tsis tau mus nrog nws so. 2Rau qhov peb puavleej hnov txojmoo zoo ib yam li lawv tau hnov lawm thiab. Lawv hnov tiamsis txojmoo zoo ntawd tsis muaj nqis rau lawv, rau qhov thaum lawv hnov lawv tsis ntseeg. 3Peb cov uas ntseeg peb yuav tau mus nrog Vajtswv so. Raws li Vajtswv hais tseg hais tias,
“Kuv chim kuv thiaj coglus hais tias,
‘Lawv cov ntawd yuav tsis tau los nrog kuv so ib zaug li.’ ”
Txawm yog thaum Vajtswv tsim ntuj tsim teb, nws twb ua nws tej haujlwm tiav tas lawm los nws tseem hais li ntawd.
4Rau qhov Vajtswv txojlus muaj ib qho hais txog hnub xya hais tias, “Hnub xya Vajtswv so, Vajtswv tsis tsim ib yam dabtsi ntxiv lawm.” 5Muaj dua ib los hais txog zaj no hais tias, “Lawv cov ntawd yuav tsis tau los nrog kuv so ib zaug li.” 6Cov neeg thaum ub uas xub hnov txojmoo zoo lawv tsis tau mus nrog Vajtswv so rau qhov lawv tsis ntseeg, tiamsis Vajtswv pub lwm cov mus nrog Vajtswv so. 7Peb paub hais tias muaj li ntawd, rau qhov Vajtswv teem dua ib hnub tseg hu hais tias, “Hnub No.” Tom qab ntawd ntau xyoo Vajtswv kom Daviv hais txog zaj ntawd raws li twb hais tas los lawm hais tias,
“Hnub no yog nej hnov Vajtswv lub
suab hu, nej tsis txhob tawvncauj.”
8Rau qhov yog Yausuas twb coj lawv sawvdaws mus nrog Vajtswv so lawm, ces tsis tas Vajtswv yuav rov hais dua hais tias hnub no. 9Txawm li cas los Vajtswv haivneeg yeej yuav tau so ib yam li hnub xya Vajtswv so. 10Rau qhov tus uas mus nrog Vajtswv so lawm, tus ntawd yuav tsis ua haujlwm ib yam li Vajtswv tsis ua haujlwm lawm. 11Yog li ntawd, tsimnyog peb sawvdaws yuav tsum ua tiag mus kom peb tau nrog Vajtswv so. Tsis txhob pub peb cov ib tug twg tsis mloog lus li lawv cov ntawd nyob tsam nws tsis tau mus so.
12Rau qhov Vajtswv tus uas muaj sia nyob, nws tej lus tseemceeb thiab muaj kuab kawg li. Tej lus ntawd ntse dua rab ntaj ob sab ntse, nkaug mus txog nruab plab nruab plawv nruab nqaij nruab txha. Tej lus ntawd paub tej uas neeg xav thiab paub neeg lub siab huv tibsi. 13Tsis muaj ib yam dabtsi uas neeg yuav muab ntis tau tsis pub Vajtswv pom. Ib puas tsav yam uas Vajtswv tsim los lawm Vajtswv yeej pom huv tibsi, thiab peb txhua tus nyias yuav tsum piav nyias lub neej qhia rau Vajtswv.

Yexus Yog Tus Povthawj Hlob

14Yog li ntawd, peb yuav tsum muab siab npuab tej uas peb hais tias, peb ntseeg, rau qhov peb muaj tib tug Povthawj Hlob uas twb mus cuag Vajtswv lawm, tus ntawd yog Vajtswv tus Tub Yexus. 15Peb tus Povthawj Hlob yeej paub tej uas peb qaug zog, rau qhov nws twb raug kev dag ntxias ib yam li peb los lawm. Txawm li ntawd los nws tsis tau ua ib qho txhaum li. 16Yog li ntawd, peb cia li ua siab tawv qhawv mus cuag Vajtswv tus uas zaum saum lub Zwmtxwv, rau qhov nws yog tus uas hlub peb. Nws yuav pab peb thiab foom koob hmoov rau txhua tus uas thov nws.
