Xây Cất Đền Thờ
1Vào năm bốn trăm tám mươi, sau khi dân Y-sơ-ra-ên ra khỏi xứ Ai-cập, tức là năm thứ tư của triều đại Sa-lô-môn trị vì trên dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, vào tháng Di, tức là tháng thứ hai, vua bắt đầu xây cất Đền Thờ cho Chúa.
2Ngôi đền mà vua Sa-lô-môn xây cất cho Chúa có chiều dài ba mươi thước, chiều rộng mười thước, và chiều cao mười lăm thước.
3Tiền đình ở phía trước chính điện của Đền Thờ có chiều dài mười thước, theo chiều rộng của Đền Thờ, và rộng năm thước, nối theo chiều dài của Đền Thờ.
4Vua cũng làm những cửa sổ có chấn song cho Đền Thờ.
5Dọc theo tường quanh chính điện và nơi chí thánh vua xây các tầng lầu với nhiều phòng chái.
6Tầng dưới rộng hai thước rưỡi, tầng giữa rộng ba thước, và tầng thứ ba rộng ba thước rưỡi. Vua cho xây các vách tường thụt vào để các cây đà của các tầng lầu có thể gác đầu trên các vách nhưng không đâm vào vách của Đền Thờ.
7Khi xây cất đền, người ta chỉ dùng những khối đá đã được đục sẵn nơi các hầm đá, nên đang khi xây cất không ai nghe tiếng búa, đục, hay một dụng cụ bằng sắt nào cả.
8Lối vào tầng dưới nằm về hông phía nam của Đền Thờ. Người ta dùng một thang hình xoắn ốc đi lên tầng giữa, rồi từ tầng giữa đi lên tầng thứ ba.
9Vậy vua xây cất Đền Thờ và hoàn tất công trình xây cất ấy. Vua đóng trần Đền Thờ bằng những cây đà ngang và những phiến gỗ bá hương.
10Vua cũng xây các phòng dọc theo tường Đền Thờ. Mỗi phòng cao hai thước rưỡi. Những phòng ấy dính liền với Đền Thờ bằng những cây đà gỗ bá hương.
11Có lời của Chúa phán với Sa-lô-môn rằng:
12“Về ngôi đền mà ngươi đang xây cất đây, nếu ngươi đi theo các mạng lịnh Ta, thi hành các luật lệ Ta, giữ gìn mọi điều răn Ta và vâng theo chúng, thì Ta sẽ làm trọn những lời Ta đã hứa với Đa-vít, cha ngươi, trên đời sống ngươi.
13Ta sẽ ngự giữa dân Y-sơ-ra-ên và Ta sẽ không bỏ Y-sơ-ra-ên, dân Ta.”
14Vậy Sa-lô-môn xây cất Đền Thờ và hoàn tất công trình xây cất ấy.
Bài Trí Bên Trong Đền Thờ
15Vua dùng ván bá hương lát tường trong Đền Thờ, từ nền cho đến trần. Còn mặt nền của Đền Thờ thì vua lát bằng ván gỗ tùng.
16Vua dùng ván bá hương ngăn mười thước phía trong của Đền Thờ, từ nền cho đến trần, thành một Nơi Cực Thánh, và gọi là Nơi Chí Thánh.
17Phần chính điện ở phía trước của Nơi Chí Thánh dài hai mươi thước.
18Tường bên trong của Đền Thờ được lát toàn bằng ván bá hương chạm trổ những hình trái bầu và hoa nở. Chỗ nào cũng là gỗ bá hương chứ không thấy đá.
19Vua cũng chuẩn bị một Nơi Chí Thánh trong Đền Thờ để đặt rương giao ước của Chúa tại đó.
20Nơi Chí Thánh đó dài mười thước, rộng mười thước, và cao mười thước. Vua dát toàn Nơi Chí Thánh nầy bằng vàng ròng. Vua cũng dát vàng ròng cho bàn thờ làm bằng gỗ bá hương.
21Sa-lô-môn dát vàng ròng bên trong của Đền Thờ. Vua cho giăng một dây xích làm bằng vàng ở phía trước Nơi Chí Thánh, là nơi cũng được dát bằng vàng.
22Vậy vua dát vàng toàn cả phía trong của Đền Thờ cho đến nỗi không còn một chỗ nào là không được dát vàng. Vua cũng dát vàng bàn thờ để trong Nơi Chí Thánh.
23Trong Nơi Chí Thánh, vua làm hai chê-ru-bim bằng gỗ ô-liu, mỗi chê-rúp cao năm thước.
24Một cánh của chê-rúp dài hai thước rưỡi, cánh kia cũng dài hai thước rưỡi; vậy từ đầu cánh nầy đến đầu cánh kia là năm thước.
25Chê-rúp thứ hai cũng đo được năm thước. Vì hai chê-ru-bim đều giống nhau về cả kích thước lẫn hình dạng.
26Chiều cao của một chê-rúp là năm thước; chê-rúp thứ hai cũng vậy.
27Vua đặt hai chê-ru-bim với đôi cánh giang ra nầy vào Nơi Chí Thánh của Đền Thờ. Một cánh của một chê-rúp đụng ở tường nầy, một cánh của chê-rúp kia đụng ở tường kia, hai cánh còn lại thì chạm vào nhau ở chính giữa Nơi Chí Thánh.
28Vua dát cả hai chê-ru-bim bằng vàng.
29Trên tường chung quanh Đền Thờ, vua chạm hình các chê-ru-bim, các cây kè, và những cành hoa nở, cả trong Nơi Chí Thánh lẫn Nơi Thánh.
30Vua cũng dát vàng mặt nền của Đền Thờ, cả Nơi Chí Thánh lẫn Nơi Thánh.
31Lối vào Nơi Chí Thánh, vua làm hai cánh cửa bằng gỗ ô-liu, gắn vào hai trụ cửa có năm cạnh.
32Trên hai cánh cửa bằng gỗ ô-liu, vua chạm hình các chê-ru-bim, các cây kè, và những cành hoa nở. Vua dát vàng hình các chê-ru-bim và các cây kè bằng vàng cán mỏng.
33Lối vào Nơi Thánh cũng vậy, vua làm các trụ cửa có bốn cạnh bằng gỗ ô-liu.
34Vua cũng làm hai cửa bằng gỗ tùng; cửa nầy có hai cánh xoay trên bản lề và cửa kia cũng có hai cánh xoay trên bản lề.
35Vua chạm hình các chê-ru-bim, các cây kè, và những cành hoa nở trên các cánh cửa, rồi lấy vàng khảm đều vào những đường nét đã chạm.
36Vua cũng xây cất sân trong của Đền Thờ với ba hàng đá quý được đục đẽo mỹ thuật và một hàng xà ngang bằng gỗ bá hương.
37Năm thứ tư, vào tháng Di, nền Đền Thờ của Chúa được khai móng.
38Năm thứ mười một, tháng Bun, tức là tháng tám, công trình xây cất Đền Thờ được hoàn tất đúng theo các chi tiết về kiểu mẫu và kích thước đã định. Vua mất bảy năm mới xây cất xong Đền Thờ.

Solomon Builds the Temple
1And ⚓it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel had come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, which is the second month, ⚓that he began to build the house of the Lord.
2Now ⚓the house which King Solomon built for the Lord, its length was sixty cubits, its width twenty, and its height thirty cubits.
3The vestibule in front of the sanctuary of the house was twenty cubits long across the width of the house, and the width of the vestibule extended ten cubits from the front of the house.
4And he made for the house ⚓windows with beveled frames.
5Against the wall of the temple he built ⚓chambers all around, against the walls of the temple, all around the sanctuary ⚓and the inner sanctuary. Thus he made side chambers all around it.
6The lowest chamber was five cubits wide, the middle was six cubits wide, and the third was seven cubits wide; for he made narrow ledges around the outside of the temple, so that the support beams would not be fastened into the walls of the temple.
7And ⚓the temple, when it was being built, was built with stone finished at the quarry, so that no hammer or chisel or any iron tool was heard in the temple while it was being built.
8The doorway for the middle story was on the right side of the temple. They went up by stairs to the middle story, and from the middle to the third.
9⚓So he built the temple and finished it, and he paneled the temple with beams and boards of cedar.
10And he built side chambers against the entire temple, each five cubits high; they were attached to the temple with cedar beams.
11Then the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying:
12“Concerning this temple which you are building, ⚓if you walk in My statutes, execute My judgments, keep all My commandments, and walk in them, then I will perform My word with you, ⚓which I spoke to your father David.
13And ⚓I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not ⚓forsake My people Israel.”
14So Solomon built the temple and finished it.
15And he built the inside walls of the temple with cedar boards; from the floor of the temple to the ceiling he paneled the inside with wood; and he covered the floor of the temple with planks of cypress.
16Then he built the twenty-cubit room at the rear of the temple, from floor to ceiling, with cedar boards; he built it inside as the inner sanctuary, as the ⚓Most Holy Place.
17And in front of it the temple sanctuary was forty cubits long.
18The inside of the temple was cedar, carved with ornamental buds and open flowers. All was cedar; there was no stone to be seen.
19And he prepared the inner sanctuary inside the temple, to set the ark of the covenant of the Lord there.
20The inner sanctuary was twenty cubits long, twenty cubits wide, and twenty cubits high. He overlaid it with pure gold, and overlaid the altar of cedar.
21So Solomon overlaid the inside of the temple with pure gold. He stretched gold chains across the front of the inner sanctuary, and overlaid it with gold.
22The whole temple he overlaid with gold, until he had finished all the temple; also he overlaid with gold ⚓the entire altar that was by the inner sanctuary.
23Inside the inner sanctuary ⚓he made two cherubim of olive wood, each ten cubits high.
24One wing of the cherub was five cubits, and the other wing of the cherub five cubits: ten cubits from the tip of one wing to the tip of the other.
25And the other cherub was ten cubits; both cherubim were of the same size and shape.
26The height of one cherub was ten cubits, and so was the other cherub.
27Then he set the cherubim inside the inner room; and ⚓they stretched out the wings of the cherubim so that the wing of the one touched one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall. And their wings touched each other in the middle of the room.
28Also he overlaid the cherubim with gold.
29Then he carved all the walls of the temple all around, both the inner and outer sanctuaries, with carved ⚓figures of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers.
30And the floor of the temple he overlaid with gold, both the inner and outer sanctuaries.
31For the entrance of the inner sanctuary he made doors of olive wood; the lintel and doorposts were one-fifth of the wall.
32The two doors were of olive wood; and he carved on them figures of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold; and he spread gold on the cherubim and on the palm trees.
33So for the door of the sanctuary he also made doorposts of olive wood, one-fourth of the wall.
34And the two doors were of cypress wood; ⚓two panels comprised one folding door, and two panels comprised the other folding door.
35Then he carved cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers on them, and overlaid them with gold applied evenly on the carved work.
36And he built the ⚓inner court with three rows of hewn stone and a row of cedar beams.
37⚓In the fourth year the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid, in the month of Ziv.
38And in the eleventh year, in the month of Bul, which is the eighth month, the house was finished in all its details and according to all its plans. So he was ⚓seven years in building it.
