¹Ngày năm, tháng sáu, năm thứ sáu⚓ của thời kỳ chúng tôi bị lưu đày, tôi đang ngồi trong nhà có các bô lão Giu-đa khác đang ngồi trước mặt tôi thì tôi cảm biết quyền năng của Chúa là Thượng Đế. ²Tôi thấy có vật gì giống thân người. Từ hông trở xuống giống như lửa, từ hông trở lên sáng như sắt nung đỏ⚓. ³Nó giơ ra vật gì giống như bàn tay và nắm lấy tóc tôi. Thần Linh⚓ nhấc bổng tôi lên giữa trời và đất. Qua sự hiện thấy của Thượng Đế, người đưa tôi đến Giê-ru-sa-lem, vào cổng phía Bắc nơi sân trong của đền thờ. Trong sân đó có một hình tượng khiến Thượng Đế ganh tức. ⁴Tôi thấy vinh quang của Thượng Đế của Ít-ra-en ở đó giống như tôi đã thấy trong đồng trống.
⁵Rồi người bảo tôi, “Hỡi con người⚓, bây giờ hãy nhìn về phía Bắc.” Cho nên tôi nhìn về phía Bắc và nơi cổng Bắc của bàn thờ có một pho tượng khiến Thượng Đế ganh tức.
⁶Người hỏi tôi, “Hỡi con người, ngươi có thấy chúng đang làm gì không? Ngươi có thấy bao nhiêu điều gớm ghiếc mà dân Ít-ra-en đang làm ở đây để xua đuổi ta đi xa khỏi đền thờ ta không? Nhưng ngươi sẽ còn thấy nhiều điều gớm ghiếc hơn thế nầy nữa.”
⁷Rồi người mang tôi vào nơi lối vào của sân. Tôi nhìn thì thấy một lỗ hổng nơi vách. ⁸Người bảo tôi, “Nầy con người, hãy đào qua vách.” Vậy tôi đào qua vách thì thấy một lỗ trống.
⁹Người tiếp, “Hãy đi vào xem những điều gớm ghiếc mà chúng đang làm ở đây.” ¹⁰Vậy tôi đi vào và nhìn thì thấy đủ loài bò sát⚓ và súc vật gớm ghiếc cùng mọi hình tượng của dân Ít-ra-en khắc tứ phía trên vách. ¹¹Đứng trước mặt các hình khắc và thần tượng đó là bảy mươi bô lão của Ít-ra-en cùng với Gia-a-xa-nia, con Sa-phan. Mỗi người cầm lư hương trong tay và khói thơm của trầm hương bay tỏa lên nghi ngút. ¹²Rồi người bảo tôi, “Con người, ngươi thấy các bô lão Ít-ra-en đã làm gì trong bóng tối chưa? Ngươi có thấy mỗi người ở trong phòng riêng với thần tượng mình không? Chúng nói, ‘CHÚA không thấy chúng ta. CHÚA đã lìa bỏ xứ này rồi.’” ¹³Người cũng bảo tôi, “Ngươi sẽ còn thấy nhiều điều gớm ghiếc hơn những điều chúng đang làm nữa.” ¹⁴Rồi người mang tôi vào cổng Bắc của đền thờ CHÚA, ở đó tôi thấy các người đàn bà ngồi than khóc cho Tam-mu⚓.
¹⁵Người bảo tôi, “Hỡi con người, ngươi có thấy không? Ngươi sẽ còn thấy nhiều điều gớm ghiếc hơn thế nầy nữa.”
¹⁶Rồi người mang tôi vào sân trong của đền thờ. Ở đó tôi thấy khoảng hai mươi lăm người đàn ông đang ngồi nơi cửa vào đền thờ CHÚA, ở giữa vòm cung và bàn thờ. Họ xây lưng vào đền thờ, mặt hướng về phía Đông và đang bái lạy mặt trời phía Đông.
¹⁷Người hỏi tôi, “Hỡi con người, ngươi thấy chưa? Những điều gớm ghiếc mà dân Giu-đa đang làm so với điều chúng làm ở đây mà không quan trọng sao? Chúng làm cho xứ tràn ngập cảnh bạo động và cứ chọc giận ta. Xem đó, chúng tìm mọi cách để chọc giận ta⚓. ¹⁸Cho nên ta sẽ ra tay trong cơn thịnh nộ ta. Ta sẽ không thương tiếc. Cho dù chúng la lớn trước mặt ta, ta cũng chẳng thèm để ý.”

Abominations in the Temple

¹And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I sat in my house with ⚓the elders of Judah sitting before me, that ⚓the hand of the Lord God fell upon me there. ²⚓Then I looked, and there was a likeness, like the appearance of fire—from the appearance of His waist and downward, fire; and from His waist and upward, like the appearance of brightness, ⚓like the color of amber. ³He ⚓stretched out the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my hair; and ⚓the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven, and ⚓brought me in visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the north gate of the inner court,⚓where the seat of the image of jealousy was, which ⚓provokes to jealousy. ⁴And behold, the ⚓glory of the God of Israel was there, like the vision that I ⚓saw in the plain.
⁵Then He said to me, “Son of man, lift your eyes now toward the north.” So I lifted my eyes toward the north, and there, north of the altar gate, was this image of jealousy in the entrance.
⁶Furthermore He said to me, “Son of man, do you see what they are doing, the great ⚓abominations that the house of Israel commits here, to make Me go far away from My sanctuary? Now turn again, you will see greater abominations.” ⁷So He brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, there was a hole in the wall. ⁸Then He said to me, “Son of man, dig into the wall”; and when I dug into the wall, there was a door.
⁹And He said to me, “Go in, and see the wicked abominations which they are doing there.” ¹⁰So I went in and saw, and there—every ⚓sort of ⚓creeping thing, abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed all around on the walls. ¹¹And there stood before them ⚓seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel, and in their midst stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan. Each man had a censer in his hand, and a thick cloud of incense went up. ¹²Then He said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the room of his idols? For they say, ⚓‘The Lord does not see us, the Lord has forsaken the land.’ ”
¹³And He said to me, “Turn again, and you will see greater abominations that they are doing.” ¹⁴So He brought me to the door of the north gate of the Lord’s house; and to my dismay, women were sitting there weeping for Tammuz.
¹⁵Then He said to me, “Have you seen this, O son of man? Turn again, you will see greater abominations than these.” ¹⁶So He brought me into the inner court of the Lord’s house; and there, at the door of the temple of the Lord, ⚓between the porch and the altar, ⚓were about twenty-five men ⚓with their backs toward the temple of the Lord and their faces toward the east, and they were worshiping ⚓the sun toward the east.
¹⁷And He said to me, “Have you seen this, O son of man? Is it a trivial thing to the house of Judah to commit the abominations which they commit here? For they have ⚓filled the land with violence; then they have returned to provoke Me to anger. Indeed they put the branch to their nose. ¹⁸⚓Therefore I also will act in fury. My ⚓eye will not spare nor will I have pity; and though they ⚓cry in My ears with a loud voice, I will not hear them.”
