Judgment on Judah and Jerusalem

¹For behold, the Lord, the Lord of hosts,
⚓Takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah
⚓The stock and the store,
The whole supply of bread and the whole supply of water;
²⚓The mighty man and the man of war,
The judge and the prophet,
And the diviner and the elder;
³The captain of fifty and the honorable man,
The counselor and the skillful artisan,
And the expert enchanter.
⁴“I will give ⚓children to be their princes,
And babes shall rule over them.
⁵The people will be oppressed,
Every one by another and every one by his neighbor;
The child will be insolent toward the elder,
And the base toward the honorable.”
⁶When a man takes hold of his brother
In the house of his father, saying,
“You have clothing;
You be our ruler,
And let these ruins be under your power,”
⁷In that day he will protest, saying,
“I cannot cure your ills,
For in my house is neither food nor clothing;
Do not make me a ruler of the people.”
⁸For ⚓Jerusalem stumbled,
And Judah is fallen,
Because their tongue and their doings
Are against the Lord,
To provoke the eyes of His glory.
⁹The look on their countenance witnesses against them,
And they declare their sin as ⚓Sodom;
They do not hide it.
Woe to their soul!
For they have brought evil upon themselves.
¹⁰“Say to the righteous ⚓that it shall be well with them,
⚓For they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
¹¹Woe to the wicked! ⚓It shall be ill with him,
For the reward of his hands shall be given him.
¹²As for My people, children are their oppressors,
And women rule over them.
O My people! ⚓Those who lead you cause you to err,
And destroy the way of your paths.”

Oppression and Luxury Condemned

¹³The Lord stands up ⚓to plead,
And stands to judge the people.
¹⁴The Lord will enter into judgment
With the elders of His people
And His princes:
“For you have eaten up ⚓the vineyard;
The plunder of the poor is in your houses.
¹⁵What do you mean by ⚓crushing My people
And grinding the faces of the poor?”
Says the Lord God of hosts.
¹⁶Moreover the Lord says:
“Because the daughters of Zion are haughty,
And walk with outstretched necks
And wanton eyes,
Walking and mincing as they go,
Making a jingling with their feet,
¹⁷Therefore the Lord will strike with ⚓a scab
The crown of the head of the daughters of Zion,
And the Lord will ⚓uncover their secret parts.”
¹⁸In that day the Lord will take away the finery:
The jingling anklets, the scarves, and the ⚓crescents;
¹⁹The pendants, the bracelets, and the veils;
²⁰The headdresses, the leg ornaments, and the headbands;
The perfume boxes, the charms,
²¹and the rings;
The nose jewels,
²²the festal apparel, and the mantles;
The outer garments, the purses,
²³and the mirrors;
The fine linen, the turbans, and the robes.
²⁴And so it shall be:
Instead of a sweet smell there will be a stench;
Instead of a sash, a rope;
Instead of well-set hair, ⚓baldness;
Instead of a rich robe, a girding of sackcloth;
And branding instead of beauty.
²⁵Your men shall fall by the sword,
And your mighty in the war.
²⁶⚓Her gates shall lament and mourn,
And she being desolate ⚓shall sit on the ground.

¹Vì nầy, CHÚA,
CHÚA Vạn Quân
Sẽ cất đi nguồn cung cấp cùng gậy chống
Khỏi Giê-ru-sa-lem và Giu-đa,
Tức là mọi nguồn cung cấp bánh và nước;
²Những anh hùng, chiến sĩ,
Quan án, tiên tri,
Thầy bói lẫn trưởng lão,
³Những đại đội trưởng và những người cao cấp,
Những cố vấn, những nghệ sĩ tài ba,
Những tay phù thủy chuyên nghiệp.
⁴Rồi Ta sẽ cho những cậu bé làm lãnh đạo,
Trẻ con cai trị họ.
⁵Dân chúng hà hiếp nhau,
Người chống người, người chống kẻ lân cận mình.
Con nít láo xược với người già cả;
Kẻ hèn hạ chống lại người tôn trọng.
⁶Khi ấy một người sẽ nắm lấy một anh em
Trong nhà cha mình và nói:
“Anh có cái áo choàng, anh hãy lãnh đạo chúng tôi.
Hãy ra tay cai quản cái đống đổ nát này.”⚓
⁷Vào ngày ấy, người kia sẽ lên tiếng bảo:
“Tôi không phải là người cứu chữa;
Trong nhà tôi không có bánh cũng không có áo choàng,
Đừng lập tôi làm lãnh đạo dân chúng.”
⁸Khi Giê-ru-sa-lem nghiêng ngả,
Giu-đa sụp đổ
Vì lời nói và việc làm của họ đều chống lại CHÚA;
Coi thường sự hiện diện⚓ vinh quang của Ngài.
⁹Nét mặt họ⚓ làm chứng nghịch cùng họ.
Chúng nó công bố tội lỗi mình như thành Sô-đôm,
Chẳng che giấu gì.
Khốn nạn cho linh hồn họ
Vì họ đã mang tai họa đến cho mình.
¹⁰Hãy nói với người công chính rằng: Phước cho họ.
Vì họ sẽ hưởng hoa quả của việc làm mình.
¹¹Khốn cho kẻ gian ác! Họa cho chúng.
Vì tay chúng đã làm gì, chúng phải mang lấy điều ấy.⚓
¹²Ôi dân ta! Con nít hà hiếp chúng,
Đàn bà cai trị họ.
Ôi dân ta! Những kẻ lãnh đạo ngươi đã hướng dẫn ngươi lầm đường,
Làm cho ngươi lạc lối.⚓
¹³CHÚA đăng đường biện luận,
Ngài đứng dậy xét đoán các dân.⚓
¹⁴CHÚA kết án
Các trưởng lão và lãnh đạo trong dân rằng:
“Chính các ngươi đã ăn nuốt vườn nho;
Đồ cướp đoạt của người nghèo đang ở trong nhà các ngươi.
¹⁵Các ngươi có ý gì⚓ mà đập nát dân ta?
Nghiền nát mặt người nghèo?”

¹⁶CHÚA phán:
“Vì con gái Si-ôn kiêu kỳ,
Ngẩng cổ cao đi lại,
Liếc mắt đưa tình,
Bước đi õng ẹo,
Bước chân khoa loảng xoảng.
¹⁷Chúa làm cho da đầu con gái Si-ôn đóng vảy,
CHÚA làm đỉnh đầu của họ sói.”⚓
¹⁸Vào ngày ấy Chúa sẽ cất đi các nữ trang của họ: vòng mắt cá chân, khăn quấn đầu, lược cài tóc, ¹⁹hoa tai, vòng tay, lúp, ²⁰mão, dây chuyền mắt cá, khăn quàng vai, hộp hương, bùa đeo, ²¹nhẫn, vòng mũi, ²²áo lễ, áo khoác, áo ngoài, ví tay ²³gương soi mặt, áo, khăn đội đầu và khăn che mặt
²⁴Sẽ có mùi hôi thay vì nước hoa;
Sẽ có dây dừa thay vì khăn quàng vai;
Đầu sói thay vì tóc mượt mà;
Vải thô quấn mình thay vì áo dài sang trọng,
Hổ thẹn thay cho sự xinh đẹp.⚓
²⁵Giới nam nhi của ngươi sẽ ngã vì gươm,
Các dũng sĩ ngươi sẽ chết nơi chiến trận.
²⁶Các cổng nó sẽ than khóc,
Sầu thảm. Nó sẽ ngồi trên đất hoang tàn.
