Tìm Lại Được Chỉ Dụ Của Vua Si-ru
1Bấy giờ, vua Đa-ri-út ra lệnh truy cứu trong văn khố, nơi lưu trữ các văn kiện quý,⚓ tại Ba-by-lôn.
2Nhưng chính tại trong thành lũy Éc-ba-tan, thuộc tỉnh Mê-đi, người ta mới tìm thấy một cuốn da,⚓ trong đó có ghi chép như sau: “Điều cần nhớ.
3Năm thứ nhất đời vua Si-ru, vua Si-ru ban sắc lệnh về đền Đức Chúa Trời tại Giê-ru-sa-lem. Phải xây lại đền ngay tại⚓ nơi người ta thường dâng lễ vật, và phải đắp cho vững chắc nền cũ của đền. Chiều cao đền là 27m,⚓ chiều rộng 27m,
4với ba dẫy đá đẽo và một dẫy xà gỗ. Phí tổn do ngân khố triều đình đài thọ.
5Ngoài ra, phải trả lại các dụng cụ bằng vàng và bạc trong đền thờ Đức Chúa Trời mà Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa đã đem ra khỏi đền tại Giê-ru-sa-lem và mang về Ba-by-lôn. Phải đem các dụng cụ ấy về đền tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, đặt mỗi dụng cụ vào chổ riêng của nó trong đền Đức Chúa Trời.”
Vua Đa-ri-út Ra Chỉ Thị Cho Tạc-tê-nai Về Việc Xây Đền Thờ
6“Vậy, bây giờ, Tạc-tê-nai, thống đốc tỉnh phía tây sông, Sê-ta-bô-xê-nai, và các thanh tra cộng sự viên của các người trong tỉnh phía tây sông, hãy tránh xa nơi đó.
7Hãy để yên công tác xây cất đền này của Đức Chúa Trời. Hãy để tổng trấn dân Do Thái và các trưởng lão dân Do Thái xây lại đền của Đức Chúa Trời tại vị trí cũ.
8Ta cũng ban hành sắc lệnh về điều các ngươi cần phải làm cho các trưởng lão của dân Do Thái đối với công tác xây cất đền của Đức Chúa Trời: Phải dùng số thu nhập của triều đình từ các phần công thuế trong tỉnh phía tây sông mà trả đầy đủ mọi chi phí cho các người này, để công việc khỏi bị đình trệ.⚓
9Bất cứ điều chi họ cần, như là bò tơ đực, cừu đực, hoặc cừu con, dê dâng tế lễ thiêu cho Đức Chúa Trời trên trời, hoặc lúa mì, muối, rượu, và dầu, thể theo lời yêu cầu của các thầy tế lễ tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, các ngươi phải cung cấp cho họ hằng ngày, không thiếu chi hết,
10để họ dâng lễ vật vừa ý Đức Chúa Trời trên trời, và cầu nguyện cho vua và các hoàng tử được sống lâu.⚓
11Ta cũng ban lệnh, nếu ai vi phạm⚓ chiếu chỉ này, phải rút một cây đòn tay từ nhà hắn ra, đâm thẳng đứng vào người hắn, và nhà hắn sẽ bị tịch thu vì cớ tội ấy.⚓
12Cầu xin Đức Chúa Trời, là Đấng khiến danh Ngài ngự tại đây, lật đổ vua nào hoặc dân tộc nào liều lĩnh⚓ vi phạm sắc lệnh hoặc⚓ phá hủy đền thờ này của Đức Chúa Trời tại Giê-ru-sa-lem. Ta, Đa-ri-út, ban hành sắc lệnh này. Mỗi người phải chấp hành triệt để.”
Lễ Cung Hiến Đền Thờ
13Tạc-tê-nai, thống đốc tỉnh phía tây sông, Sê-ta-bô-xê-nai, và các cộng sự viên triệt để thi hành sắc lệnh vua Đa-ri-út ban xuống.
14Vậy các trưởng lão dân Do Thái tiếp tục xây cất. Công việc tiến triển tốt đẹp nhờ sự rao truyền lời Chúa của tiên tri Ha-gai và tiên tri Xa-cha-ri, con trai Y-đô. Họ hoàn tất công việc xây cất theo mệnh lệnh Đức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên, và theo chiếu chỉ của Si-ru, Đa-ri-út, và Át-ta-xét-xe, vua Ba-tư.
15Đền thờ cất xong vào ngày 23⚓ tháng A-đa, trong năm thứ sáu đời vua Đa-ri-út.
16Dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, các thầy tế lễ, những người Lê-vi, và hết thảy những người lưu đày khác hồi hương vui mừng tổ chức lễ khánh thành đền thờ Đức Chúa Trời.
17Trong dịp lễ khánh thành đền thờ của Đức Chúa Trời, họ dâng 100 bò đực, 200 cừu đực, 400 cừu con, và, tùy theo số các chi tộc Y-sơ-ra-ên, mười hai dê đực làm tế lễ chuộc tội cho toàn dân Y-sơ-ra-ên.
18Họ lập các thầy tế lễ theo từng ban, và những người Lê-vi theo từng ngành để phục vụ đền thờ⚓ Đức Chúa Trời tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, y như có chép trong Kinh Luật Môi-se.
Lễ Vượt Qua Trọng Thể
19Ngày 14 tháng giêng, những người lưu đày hồi hương giữ lễ Vượt Qua,
20vì các thầy tế lễ đã dọn mình thánh sạch, và toàn thể những người Lê-vi cũng đồng lòng dọn mình thánh sạch. Họ giết cừu con lễ Vượt Qua cho tất cả những người lưu đày hồi hương, cho anh em họ là thầy tế lễ, và cho chính họ.
21Những người ăn lễ Vượt Qua là dân Y-sơ-ra-ên lưu đày hồi hương cùng với hết thảy những người nào đã biệt mình riêng ra khỏi sự ô uế của dân địa phương để tìm cầu CHÚA, Đức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên.
22Họ cũng vui mừng giữ lễ bánh không men trong bảy ngày, vì Đức Chúa Trời ban niềm vui cho họ, Ngài đổi lòng vua A-si-ri đối với họ, khiến vua giúp đỡ họ trong công tác xây cất đền thờ CHÚA, là Đức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên.

The Decree of Darius
1Then King Darius issued a decree, ⚓and a search was made in the archives, where the treasures were stored in Babylon.
2And at Achmetha, in the palace that is in the province of ⚓Media, a scroll was found, and in it a record was written thus:
3In the first year of King Cyrus, King Cyrus issued a ⚓decree concerning the house of God at Jerusalem: “Let the house be rebuilt, the place where they offered sacrifices; and let the foundations of it be firmly laid, its height sixty cubits and its width sixty cubits,
4⚓with three rows of heavy stones and one row of new timber. Let the ⚓expenses be paid from the king’s treasury.
5Also let ⚓the gold and silver articles of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took from the temple which is in Jerusalem and brought to Babylon, be restored and taken back to the temple which is in Jerusalem, each to its place; and deposit them in the house of God”—
6⚓Now therefore, Tattenai, governor of the region beyond the River, and Shethar-Boznai, and your companions the Persians who are beyond the River, keep yourselves far from there.
7Let the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God on its site.
8Moreover I issue a decree as to what you shall do for the elders of these Jews, for the building of this house of God: Let the cost be paid at the king’s expense from taxes on the region beyond the River; this is to be given immediately to these men, so that they are not hindered.
9And whatever they need—young bulls, rams, and lambs for the burnt offerings of the God of heaven, wheat, salt, wine, and oil, according to the request of the priests who are in Jerusalem—let it be given them day by day without fail,
10⚓that they may offer sacrifices of sweet aroma to the God of heaven, and pray for the life of the king and his sons.
11Also I issue a decree that whoever alters this edict, let a timber be pulled from his house and erected, and let him be hanged on it; ⚓and let his house be made a refuse heap because of this.
12And may the God who causes His ⚓name to dwell there destroy any king or people who put their hand to alter it, or to destroy this house of God which is in Jerusalem. I Darius issue a decree; let it be done diligently.
The Temple Completed and Dedicated
13Then Tattenai, governor of the region beyond the River, Shethar-Boznai, and their companions diligently did according to what King Darius had sent.
14⚓So the elders of the Jews built, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they built and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the command of ⚓Cyrus, ⚓Darius, and ⚓Artaxerxes king of Persia.
15Now the temple was finished on the third day of the month of Adar, which was in the sixth year of the reign of King Darius.
16Then the children of Israel, the priests and the Levites and the rest of the descendants of the captivity, celebrated ⚓the dedication of this house of God with joy.
17And they ⚓offered sacrifices at the dedication of this house of God, one hundred bulls, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs, and as a sin offering for all Israel twelve male goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.
18They assigned the priests to their ⚓divisions and the Levites to their ⚓divisions, over the service of God in Jerusalem, ⚓as it is written in the Book of Moses.
The Passover Celebrated
19And the descendants of the captivity kept the Passover ⚓on the fourteenth day of the first month.
20For the priests and the Levites had ⚓purified themselves; all of them were ritually clean. And they ⚓slaughtered the Passover lambs for all the descendants of the captivity, for their brethren the priests, and for themselves.
21Then the children of Israel who had returned from the captivity ate together with all who had separated themselves from the ⚓filth of the nations of the land in order to seek the Lord God of Israel.
22And they kept the ⚓Feast of Unleavened Bread seven days with joy; for the Lord made them joyful, and ⚓turned the heart ⚓of the king of Assyria toward them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.
