The Lord the Defense of His People
A Song of Ascents. Of David.
1“If it had not been the Lord who was on our ⚓side,”
⚓Let Israel now say—
2“If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,
When men rose up against us,
3Then they would have ⚓swallowed us alive,
When their wrath was kindled against us;
4Then the waters would have overwhelmed us,
The stream would have gone over our soul;
5Then the swollen waters
Would have gone over our soul.”
6Blessed be the Lord,
Who has not given us as prey to their teeth.
7⚓Our soul has escaped ⚓as a bird from the snare of the fowlers;
The snare is broken, and we have escaped.
8⚓Our help is in the name of the Lord,
⚓Who made heaven and earth.

大衛上行之詩。上帝保護他的子民
1說吧，以色列：
「若不是耶和華幫助我們，
2若不是耶和華幫助我們，
當人起來攻擊我們，
3那時，人向我們發怒，
就把我們活活吞了；
4那時，波濤必漫過我們，
河水必淹沒我們；
5那時，狂傲的水
必淹沒我們。」
6耶和華是應當稱頌的！
他沒有把我們交給他們，作牙齒的獵物。
7我們好像雀鳥，從捕鳥人的羅網裏逃脫，
羅網破裂，我們就逃脫了。
8我們得幫助，
是因造天地之耶和華的名。
