Bánh trên mặt nước

¹Hãy rải bánh của con trên mặt nước,
Vì sau nhiều ngày, con sẽ tìm lại được.
²Hãy chia phần của con cho bảy hoặc tám người,
Vì con không biết tai họa nào sẽ xảy ra trên đất.
³Khi mây đầy nước
Thì mưa tuôn xuống đất;
Khi một cây ngã về hướng nam hay hướng bắc,
Cây ngã bên nào thì nằm luôn bên đó.
⁴Người nào chỉ ngồi chờ gió thì sẽ không gieo,
Còn người cứ đứng trông mây thì sẽ không gặt.

⁵Con không biết đường gió thổi,
Cũng chẳng biết bào thai hình thành trong bụng mẹ thế nào;
Cũng vậy, con không sao biết được công việc của Đức Chúa Trời
Là Đấng tạo dựng muôn vật.

⁶Sáng sớm, hãy đi gieo giống,
Chiều đến cũng đừng nghỉ tay;
Vì con đâu có biết lần gieo nào thành công,
Lần gieo buổi sáng hay buổi chiều,
Hoặc cả hai đều mọc tốt như nhau.

⁷Ánh sáng thật là êm dịu;
Thật là vui thích cho mắt được thấy ánh mặt trời!
⁸Nếu một người được sống lâu,
Hãy vui hưởng tất cả các năm ấy.
Nhưng cũng hãy nhớ rằng chuỗi ngày tối tăm sẽ kéo dài;
Và mọi việc xảy đến đều là hư không.

Lời khuyên người trẻ tuổi

⁹Hỡi người trẻ tuổi, hãy vui mừng trong tuổi thiếu niên! Hãy vui hưởng thời thanh xuân của con. Hãy đi theo đường lối lòng mình muốn và mắt mình ưa thích. Nhưng phải biết rằng vì mọi việc ấy, Đức Chúa Trời sẽ đem con ra mà xét xử.
¹⁰Vậy, hãy xua phiền não khỏi tấm lòng, và cất bỏ điều tai hại khỏi thân xác của con; vì tuổi thiếu niên và thời thanh xuân đều là hư không mà thôi.

Invest in Many Ventures

¹Ship your grain across the sea;
after many days you may receive a return.
²Invest in seven ventures, yes, in eight;
you do not know what disaster may come upon the land.

³If clouds are full of water,
they pour rain on the earth.
Whether a tree falls to the south or to the north,
in the place where it falls, there it will lie.
⁴Whoever watches the wind will not plant;
whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.

⁵As you do not know the path of the wind,
or how the body is formed⚓ in a mother’s womb,
so you cannot understand the work of God,
the Maker of all things.

⁶Sow your seed in the morning,
and at evening let your hands not be idle,
for you do not know which will succeed,
whether this or that,
or whether both will do equally well.

Remember Your Creator While Young

⁷Light is sweet,
and it pleases the eyes to see the sun.
⁸However many years anyone may live,
let them enjoy them all.
But let them remember the days of darkness,
for there will be many.
Everything to come is meaningless.

⁹You who are young, be happy while you are young,
and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth.
Follow the ways of your heart
and whatever your eyes see,
but know that for all these things
God will bring you into judgment.
¹⁰So then, banish anxiety from your heart
and cast off the troubles of your body,
for youth and vigor are meaningless.
