 1Ngài nói với họ, “Quả thật, Ta nói với các ngươi, vài người đứng đây sẽ không nếm trải sự chết cho đến khi thấy vương quốc Ðức Chúa Trời đến trong quyền năng.”

Chúa Hóa Hình

(Mat 17:1-8; Lu 9:28-36)

 2Sáu ngày sau Ðức Chúa Jesus đem Phi-rơ, Gia-cơ, và Giăng theo Ngài. Ngài dẫn riêng họ lên núi cao, và Ngài biến hóa trước mặt họ. 3Y phục Ngài tỏa rực hào quang và trở nên cực trắng mà không thợ giặt nào trên đất có thể làm cho trắng được như thế. 4Có Ê-li-gia và Mô-sê hiện ra với họ, và các vị ấy đàm đạo với Ðức Chúa Jesus.
  5Bấy giờ Phi-rơ cất tiếng và thưa với Ðức Chúa Jesus, “Thưa Thầy, chúng ta ở đây tốt quá. Ðể chúng con dựng ba cái lều, một cái cho Thầy, một cái cho Mô-sê, và một cái cho Ê-li-gia.” 6Ông nói mà không biết mình nói gì, bởi vì họ quá đỗi kinh hoàng.
  7Một đám mây kéo đến bao phủ họ; từ trong đám mây có tiếng phán, “Ðây là Con yêu dấu của Ta, hãy nghe lời Người!” 8Bất chợt họ nhìn quanh và không thấy ai ở với họ nữa ngoại trừ một mình Ðức Chúa Jesus.

Chúa Dạy về Việc Ê-li-gia Ðến

(Mat 17:9-13)

 9Khi xuống núi Ngài ra lịnh cho họ không được nói với ai những gì họ đã thấy cho đến khi Con Người từ cõi chết sống lại. 10Họ ghi nhớ điều ấy trong lòng và bàn bạc với nhau về những lời “từ cõi chết sống lại” có nghĩa gì. 11Họ hỏi Ngài, “Tại sao các thầy dạy giáo luật lại bảo rằng Ê-li-gia phải đến trước?”
  12Ngài trả lời họ, “Ê-li-gia thật phải đến trước để tái lập mọi sự. Còn những gì đã viết về Con Người phải chịu nhiều đau khổ và bị miệt thị thì sao? 13Nầy, Ta nói với các ngươi, Ê-li-gia quả đã đến rồi, và họ đã đối xử với ông ấy theo ý họ muốn, y như lời đã viết về ông ấy.”

Chúa Chữa Lành Cậu Bé Bị Quỷ Ám

(Mat 17:14-21; Lu 9:37-43)

 14Khi họ đến gặp các môn đồ, họ thấy một đám đông bao quanh các môn đồ ấy, và có mấy thầy dạy giáo luật đang tranh luận với các môn đồ ấy. 15Vừa thấy Ngài cả đám đông rất đỗi ngạc nhiên, rồi họ chạy đến chào Ngài. 16Ngài hỏi họ, “Các ngươi đang tranh luận với họ về việc gì thế?”
  17Một người trong đám đông đáp, “Thưa Thầy, tôi đem con trai tôi đến nhờ Thầy cứu chữa. Cháu bị quỷ ám làm cháu không nói được. 18Mỗi khi quỷ bắt lấy cháu, nó vật cháu xuống; cháu trào bọt mép, nghiến răng, và cứng người. Tôi đã xin các môn đồ Thầy đuổi quỷ ấy ra, nhưng họ không đuổi được.”
  19Ngài nói với họ, “Hỡi thế hệ vô tín, Ta phải ở với các ngươi bao lâu nữa? Ta phải chịu đựng các ngươi bao lâu nữa? Hãy đem đứa trẻ đến Ta.” 20Họ đem đứa trẻ đến Ngài. Vừa khi thấy Ngài, quỷ liền hành hạ đứa trẻ; nó ngã xuống đất, lăn lộn, và trào bọt mép.
 21Ngài hỏi cha đứa trẻ, “Nó bị như thế đã bao lâu rồi?”
 Ông đáp, “Thưa từ khi cháu còn bé. 22Cháu thường bị quỷ quăng vào lửa và vào nước để giết cháu. Nhưng nếu Thầy có thể làm được gì để giúp chúng tôi, xin Thầy dủ lòng thương.”
  23Ðức Chúa Jesus phán, “Nếu có thể à? Mọi sự đều có thể xảy ra cho người có lòng tin.”
  24Người cha của đứa trẻ liền bật khóc lớn tiếng, “Tôi tin. Xin giúp tôi khắc phục sự vô tín của tôi.”
  25Khi Ðức Chúa Jesus thấy đám đông kéo nhau chạy đến, Ngài truyền cho tà linh ô uế, “Hỡi quỷ câm và điếc, Ta ra lệnh cho ngươi, hãy ra khỏi đứa trẻ nầy và không được phép nhập lại vào nó nữa.” 26Con quỷ thét lên một tiếng lớn, vật mạnh đứa trẻ khiến nó co giật dữ dội, rồi xuất ra. Ðứa trẻ trở nên như người chết đến nỗi nhiều người nói, “Ðứa nhỏ đã chết rồi.” 27Nhưng Ðức Chúa Jesus nắm tay nó, đỡ nó dậy, và nó đứng dậy.
  28Sau khi đã vào trong nhà, các môn đồ Ngài đến hỏi riêng Ngài, “Tại sao chúng con không thể đuổi quỷ ấy ra được?
  29Ngài đáp, “Thứ quỷ ấy không thể đuổi ra ngoại trừ cầu nguyện.”

Chúa Nói Trước về Sự Chết và Sự Sống Lại của Ngài (lần thứ hai)

(Mat 17:22-23; Lu 9:43-45)

 30Từ nơi đó họ đi ngang qua miền Ga-li-lê, nhưng Ngài không muốn ai biết, 31vì Ngài muốn dạy dỗ các môn đồ Ngài. Ngài bảo họ, “Con Người sẽ bị phản nộp vào tay người ta. Họ sẽ giết Người, và Người sẽ bị giết, nhưng ba ngày sau Người sẽ sống lại.” 32Tuy nhiên các môn đồ Ngài không hiểu những lời đó, và họ ngại nên không hỏi Ngài.

Người Lớn Nhất

(Mat 18:1-5; Lu 9:46-48)

 33Sau đó họ đến Thành Ca-phác-na-um. Khi đã vào trong nhà, Ngài hỏi họ, “Các ngươi đã bàn cãi với nhau việc gì ở dọc đường thế?” 34Họ đều nín thinh, vì dọc đường họ đã cãi với nhau xem ai là người lớn hơn hết giữa họ. 35Sau khi ngồi xuống, Ngài gọi mười hai môn đồ lại và nói với họ, “Nếu ai muốn làm đầu, người ấy phải làm kẻ cuối rốt của tất cả và làm đầy tớ của tất cả.”
  36Ngài đem một em bé để đứng giữa các môn đồ. Ðoạn Ngài ôm đứa bé vào lòng và nói, 37“Ai vì danh Ta tiếp một đứa bé như đứa bé nầy tức là tiếp Ta. Ai tiếp Ta thì không phải chỉ tiếp Ta mà cũng tiếp Ðấng đã sai Ta.”

Không Chống Là Ủng Hộ

(Lu 9:49-50)

 38Giăng nói với Ngài, “Thưa Thầy, chúng con thấy có người nhân danh Thầy để đuổi quỷ. Chúng con đã cấm người ấy, vì người ấy không theo chúng ta.”
  39Nhưng Ðức Chúa Jesus đáp, “Ðừng cấm cản người ấy, vì không ai nhân danh Ta làm một việc quyền năng phép lạ lại có thể vội vàng nói xấu Ta. 40Vì ai không chống chúng ta là ủng hộ chúng ta. 41Quả thật, Ta nói với các ngươi, ai cho các ngươi uống một chén nước vì các ngươi mang danh là người của Ðấng Christ, người ấy sẽ không mất phần thưởng của mình đâu.”

Gây Cớ Vấp Ngã

(Mat 18:6-9; Lu 17:1-2)

 42“Kẻ nào làm cho một trong những đứa trẻ nầy đã tin Ta bị vấp ngã, thà kẻ ấy bị buộc một cối đá lớn vào cổ và bị quăng xuống biển còn hơn.
  43Nếu tay ngươi gây cho ngươi vấp ngã, hãy chặt nó đi; thà cụt một tay mà vào sự sống còn hơn có cả hai tay mà vào hỏa ngục, nơi lửa không hề tắt.
 44- 45Nếu chân ngươi gây cho ngươi vấp ngã, hãy chặt nó đi. Thà què chân mà vào sự sống còn hơn có cả hai chân mà bị ném vào hỏa ngục.
  46- 47Nếu mắt ngươi gây cho ngươi vấp ngã, hãy móc nó đi; thà chột mắt mà vào vương quốc Ðức Chúa Trời còn hơn có đủ hai mắt mà bị ném vào hỏa ngục, 48nơi giòi bọ của chúng không hề chết và lửa không hề tắt. 49Vì mỗi người sẽ bị muối bằng lửa.

 1And He said to them, ⚓“Assuredly, I say to you that there are some standing here who will not taste death till they see ⚓the kingdom of God present with power.”

Jesus Transfigured on the Mount

 2⚓Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up on a high mountain apart by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. 3His clothes became shining, exceedingly ⚓white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them. 4And Elijah appeared to them with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus. 5Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”— 6because he did not know what to say, for they were greatly afraid.
  7And a ⚓cloud came and overshadowed them; and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is ⚓My beloved Son. ⚓Hear Him!” 8Suddenly, when they had looked around, they saw no one anymore, but only Jesus with themselves.
  9⚓Now as they came down from the mountain, He commanded them that they should tell no one the things they had seen, till the Son of Man had risen from the dead. 10So they kept this word to themselves, questioning ⚓what the rising from the dead meant.
  11And they asked Him, saying, “Why do the scribes say ⚓that Elijah must come first?”
  12Then He answered and told them, “Indeed, Elijah is coming first and restores all things. And ⚓how is it written concerning the Son of Man, that He must suffer many things and ⚓be treated with contempt? 13But I say to you that ⚓Elijah has also come, and they did to him whatever they wished, as it is written of him.”

A Boy Is Healed

 14⚓And when He came to the disciples, He saw a great multitude around them, and scribes disputing with them. 15Immediately, when they saw Him, all the people were greatly amazed, and running to Him, greeted Him. 16And He asked the scribes, “What are you discussing with them?”
  17Then ⚓one of the crowd answered and said, “Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a mute spirit. 18And wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. So I spoke to Your disciples, that they should cast it out, but they could not.”
  19He answered him and said, “O ⚓faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me.” 20Then they brought him to Him. And ⚓when he saw Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground and wallowed, foaming at the mouth.
  21So He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?”
 And he said, “From childhood. 22And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”
  23Jesus said to him, ⚓“If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
  24Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; ⚓help my unbelief!”
  25When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He ⚓rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it: “Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!” 26Then the spirit cried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. And he became as one dead, so that many said, “He is dead.” 27But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose.
  28⚓And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?”
  29So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but ⚓prayer and fasting.”

Jesus Again Predicts His Death and Resurrection

 30Then they departed from there and passed through Galilee, and He did not want anyone to know it. 31⚓For He taught His disciples and said to them, “The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of men, and they will ⚓kill Him. And after He is killed, He will ⚓rise the third day.” 32⚓But they did not understand this saying, and were afraid to ask Him.

Who Is the Greatest?

 33⚓Then He came to Capernaum. And when He was in the house He asked them, “What was it you disputed among yourselves on the road?” 34But they kept silent, for on the road they had ⚓disputed among themselves who would be the⚓greatest. 35And He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, ⚓“If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.” 36Then ⚓He took a little child and set him in the midst of them. And when He had taken him in His arms, He said to them, 37“Whoever receives one of these little children in My name receives Me; and ⚓whoever receives Me, receives not Me but Him who sent Me.”

Jesus Forbids Sectarianism

 38⚓Now John answered Him, saying, “Teacher, we saw someone who does not follow us casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow us.”
  39But Jesus said, “Do not forbid him, ⚓for no one who works a miracle in My name can soon afterward speak evil of Me. 40For ⚓he who is not against us is on our side. 41⚓For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, assuredly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.

Jesus Warns of Offenses

 42⚓“But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea. 43⚓If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched— 44where
  ⚓‘Their worm does not die
   And the fire is not quenched.’
  45And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame, rather than having two feet, to be cast into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched— 46where
  ⚓‘Their worm does not die,
   And the fire is not quenched.’
  47And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire— 48where
  ⚓‘Their worm does not die
   And the ⚓fire is not quenched.’

Tasteless Salt Is Worthless

 49“For everyone will be ⚓seasoned with fire,⚓and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt. 50⚓Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavor, how will you season it? ⚓Have salt in yourselves, and ⚓have peace with one another.”
