Luật lệ để xác nhận giao ước
1Rồi Mô-se, cùng với các bô lão Ít-ra-en, truyền dặn dân chúng như sau, “Hãy giữ mọi mệnh lệnh ta ban cho ngươi hôm nay.
2Ít lâu nữa các ngươi sẽ băng qua sông Giô-đanh đi vào đất mà CHÚA, là Thượng Đế sẽ ban cho ngươi. Trong ngày đó, hãy dựng một vài tảng đá lớn và lấy vôi trét lên.
3Sau khi ngươi băng qua thì ghi những lời giáo huấn sau đây lên đó. Rồi ngươi sẽ vào xứ mà CHÚA, là Thượng Đế ngươi ban cho ngươi, một xứ phì nhiêu, như CHÚA là Thượng Đế của tổ tiên ngươi đã hứa.
4Sau khi ngươi băng qua sông Giô-đanh, hãy dựng các tảng đá nầy trên núi Ê-banh, như ta truyền dặn ngươi hôm nay, và lấy vôi trét lên.
5Dựng một bàn thờ bằng đá tại đó cho CHÚA là Thượng Đế ngươi, nhưng không được dùng dụng cụ bằng sắt để đẽo đá;
6Hãy dựng bàn thờ cho CHÚA, là Thượng Đế, dùng các tảng đá nguyên. Hãy dâng các của lễ thiêu trên đó cho CHÚA, là Thượng Đế ngươi,
7và dâng của lễ thân hữu, rồi ăn uống và vui chơi trước mặt CHÚA là Thượng Đế ngươi.
8Rồi khắc rõ ràng những lời của các luật lệ sau đây trên các tảng đá ấy.”
Những lời ghi trong luật lệ
9Rồi Mô-se và người Lê-vi là các thầy tế lễ nói với toàn thể dân Ít-ra-en như sau, “Toàn dân Ít-ra-en, hãy im lặng nghe đây! Hôm nay các ngươi đã trở thành dân của CHÚA, là Thượng Đế ngươi.
10Hãy vâng lời CHÚA, là Thượng Đế ngươi và giữ mọi mệnh lệnh cùng luật lệ ta ban cho ngươi hôm nay.”
11Hôm đó Mô-se truyền cho dân chúng mệnh lệnh nầy:
12Khi ngươi băng qua sông Giô-đanh, các chi tộc sau đây sẽ đứng trên núi Ghê-ri-xim để chúc phước cho dân chúng: Xi-mê-ôn, Lê-vi, Giu-đa, Y-xa-ca, Giô-xép, và Bên-gia-min.
13Còn các chi tộc sau đây sẽ đứng trên núi Ê-banh để loan báo những lời nguyền rủa: Ru-bên, Gát, A-se, Xa-bu-ôn, Đan, và Nép-ta-li.
14Người Lê-vi sẽ nói lớn cùng cả dân Ít-ra-en rằng:
15“Ai làm hình tượng hay tượng chạm và lén lút dựng nó lên, người đó sẽ bị nguyền rủa vì CHÚA ghét các hình tượng do con người làm ra.”
Toàn dân phải nói, “A-men!”
16“Ai không tôn kính cha mẹ mình sẽ bị nguyền rủa.”
Toàn dân phải nói, “A-men!”
17“Ai dời tảng đá dùng làm ranh giới đất⚓ của người láng giềng mình sẽ bị nguyền rủa.”
Toàn dân phải nói, “A-men!”
18“Ai dẫn người mù đi lầm đường sẽ bị nguyền rủa.”
Toàn dân phải nói, “A-men!”
19“Ai ngăn cản công lý thi hành cho người ngoại quốc hay cô nhi quả phụ sẽ bị nguyền rủa.”
Toàn dân phải nói, “A-men!”
20“Ai ăn nằm với vợ của cha mình sẽ bị nguyền rủa vì đó là điều sỉ nhục cho cha mình.”
Toàn dân phải nói, “A-men!”
21“Ai ăn nằm với thú vật sẽ bị nguyền rủa.”
Toàn dân phải nói, “A-men!”
22“Ai ăn nằm với chị em mình, dù cho chị em đó là con gái của cha, hay con gái của mẹ mình sẽ bị nguyền rủa.”
Toàn dân phải nói, “A-men!”
23“Ai ăn nằm với mẹ vợ mình sẽ bị nguyền rủa.”
Toàn dân phải nói, “A-men!”
24“Ai lén lút giết người láng giềng mình sẽ bị nguyền rủa.”
Toàn dân phải nói, “A-men!”
25“Ai nhận tiền để giết người vô tội sẽ bị nguyền rủa.”
Toàn dân phải nói, “A-men!”
26“Ai không tôn trọng và làm theo các lời của luật lệ nầy sẽ bị nguyền rủa.”
Toàn dân phải nói, “A-men!”

The Law Inscribed on Stones
1Now Moses, with the elders of Israel, commanded the people, saying: “Keep all the commandments which I command you today.
2And it shall be, on the day ⚓when you cross over the Jordan to the land which the Lord your God is giving you, that ⚓you shall set up for yourselves large stones, and whitewash them with lime.
3You shall write on them all the words of this law, when you have crossed over, that you may enter the land which the Lord your God is giving you, ⚓‘a land flowing with milk and honey,’ just as the Lord God of your fathers promised you.
4Therefore it shall be, when you have crossed over the Jordan, that⚓on Mount Ebal you shall set up these stones, which I command you today, and you shall whitewash them with lime.
5And there you shall build an altar to the Lord your God, an altar of stones; ⚓you shall not use an iron tool on them.
6You shall build with whole stones the altar of the Lord your God, and offer burnt offerings on it to the Lord your God.
7You shall offer peace offerings, and shall eat there, and ⚓rejoice before the Lord your God.
8And you shall ⚓write very plainly on the stones all the words of this law.”
9Then Moses and the priests, the Levites, spoke to all Israel, saying, “Take heed and listen, O Israel: ⚓This day you have become the people of the Lord your God.
10Therefore you shall obey the voice of the Lord your God, and observe His commandments and His statutes which I command you today.”
Curses Pronounced from Mount Ebal
11And Moses commanded the people on the same day, saying,
12“These shall stand ⚓on Mount Gerizim to bless the people, when you have crossed over the Jordan: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin;
13and ⚓these shall stand on Mount Ebal to curse: Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.
14“And ⚓the Levites shall speak with a loud voice and say to all the men of Israel:
15⚓‘Cursed is the one who makes a carved or molded image, an abomination to the Lord, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and sets it up in secret.’
⚓“And all the people shall answer and say, ‘Amen!’
16⚓‘Cursed is the one who treats his father or his mother with contempt.’
“And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
17⚓‘Cursed is the one who moves his neighbor’s landmark.’
“And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
18⚓‘Cursed is the one who makes the blind to wander off the road.’
“And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
19⚓‘Cursed is the one who perverts the justice due the stranger, the fatherless, and widow.’
“And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
20⚓‘Cursed is the one who lies with his father’s wife, because he has uncovered his father’s bed.’
“And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
21⚓‘Cursed is the one who lies with any kind of animal.’
“And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
22⚓‘Cursed is the one who lies with his sister, the daughter of his father or the daughter of his mother.’
“And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
23⚓‘Cursed is the one who lies with his mother-in-law.’
“And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
24⚓‘Cursed is the one who attacks his neighbor secretly.’
“And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
25⚓‘Cursed is the one who takes a bribe to slay an innocent person.’
“And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
26⚓‘Cursed is the one who does not confirm all the words of this law by observing them.’
“And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
