Các vùng đất còn phải chiếm

¹Lúc Giô-suê đã cao tuổi, Chúa bảo ông, “Giô-suê ơi, con nay đã già rồi nhưng đất đai phải chiếm vẫn còn nhiều lắm. ²Đây là các vùng đất còn lại: miền Ghê-su-rơ và đất của dân Phi-li-tin; ³khu vực từ sông Si-ho⚓ giáp ranh giới Ai-Cập đến Éc-rôn về phía bắc, vốn thuộc dân Ca-na-an; năm lãnh tụ Phi-li-tin ở Ga-xa, Ách-đốt, Ách-kê-lôn, Gát, Éc-rôn và người A-vít, ⁴sống ở miền nam xứ Ca-na-an; và Mê-ra thuộc dân Xi-đôn đến A-phéc, tận ranh giới dân A-mô-rít ⁵người Ghê-ba-lít và vùng Li-băng nằm về phía đông Ba-anh Gát dưới chân núi Hẹt-môn cho đến Lê-bô Ha-mát.
⁶Người Xi-đôn sống ở miền núi từ Li-băng cho đến Mít-rê-phốt Ma-im, nhưng ta sẽ đánh đuổi chúng nó ra trước khi dân Ít-ra-en đến với điều kiện là các con phải nhớ đến đất nầy khi con chia cho dân Ít-ra-en, như ta đã dặn con. ⁷Bây giờ hãy chia đất cho chín chi tộc và chi tộc Ma-na-xe phía tây.”

Chia đất

⁸Chi tộc Ma-na-xe phía đông, chi tộc Ru-bên và Gát đã nhận phần đất của họ. Mô-se tôi tớ Chúa đã cấp cho họ vùng đất phía đông sông Giô-đanh. ⁹Đất của họ chạy từ A-rô-e nơi hố Ạc-nôn đến thị trấn nằm giữa hố, bao gồm toàn miền bình nguyên từ Mê-đê-ba cho đến Đi-bôn. ¹⁰Tất cả các thị trấn do vua Xi-hôn, người A-mô-rít cai trị từ thành Hết-bôn đều nằm trong lãnh thổ đó. Dải đất kéo dài đến vùng dân A-mô-rít sinh sống. ¹¹Ghi-lê-át cũng nằm trong vùng đó và đồng thời bao gồm vùng dân Ghê-su-rơ và Ma-a-ca sinh sống, toàn cả núi Hẹt-môn, Ba-san cho đến tận Xa-lê-ca. ¹²Toàn thể vương quốc của Óc, vua của Ba-san cũng nằm trong lãnh thổ nầy. Óc là một trong những vua Rê-pha cuối cùng. Trước kia vua nầy đã cai trị vùng Ách-ra-rốt và Ết-rê-i. Mô-se đã đánh bại và chiếm lấy đất đai họ. ¹³Người Ít-ra-en không đánh đuổi được dân ở Ghê-su-rơ và Ma-a-ca cho nên hiện nay các dân nầy vẫn ở chung với người Ít-ra-en.
¹⁴Chi tộc Lê-vi là chi tộc duy nhất không nhận được phần đất nào. Thay vào đó, sản nghiệp họ là các của lễ thiêu dâng cho Chúa, Thượng Đế của Ít-ra-en, như Ngài đã hứa với họ.
¹⁵Mô-se đã cấp cho mỗi họ thuộc chi tộc Ru-bên một số đất đai: ¹⁶Đất của họ chạy từ A-rô-e gần hố Ạc-nôn cho đến thị trấn Mê-đê-ba, gồm toàn vùng bình nguyên và thị trấn nằm giữa hố; ¹⁷Hết-bôn và tất cả các thị trấn nằm trong bình nguyên: Đi-bôn, Ba-mốt Ba-anh và Bết-Ba-anh Mê-ôn, ¹⁸Gia-hát, Kê-đê-mốt, Mê-phát, ¹⁹Ki-ri-át-ta-im, Xíp-ma, Xê-rết Sa-ha nằm trên đồi trong thung lũng, ²⁰Bết-phê-ô, các sườn đồi Phích-ga, và Bết Giê-si-mốt. ²¹Đó là đất bao gồm các thị trấn nằm trong bình nguyên và toàn thể các vùng mà vua Xi-hôn, vua dân A-mô-rít đã cai trị từ Hết-bôn. Mô-se đã đánh bại vua đó cùng với các vua dân Mi-đi-an trong số có Ê-vi, Rê-kem, Xu-rơ, Hu-rơ và Rê-ba. Tất cả các vua nầy họp với vua Xi-hôn để chiến đấu. Họ sống trong miền đó. ²²Dân Ít-ra-en giết rất nhiều người trong cuộc chiến, trong số đó có Ba-la-am, con trai Bê-ô, người dùng tà thuật để bói toán. ²³Địa phận của chi tộc Ru-bên có bờ sông Giô-đanh làm ranh giới. Vì thế đất cấp cho các họ hàng Ru-bên gồm các thị trấn và làng mạc vừa kể.
²⁴Đây là đất Mô-se cấp cho chi tộc Gát, cho toàn thể các họ hàng:
²⁵Vùng đất Gia-xa và tất cả các thị trấn Ghi-lê-át; phần nửa đất đai của dân Am-môn chạy dài đến A-rô-e gần Ra-ba; ²⁶vùng từ Hết-bôn đến Ra-mát Mích-ba và Bê-tô-nim; vùng từ Ma-ha-na-im đến đất Đê-bia; ²⁷trong thung lũng, Bết-Ha-ram, Bết-nim-ra, Xu-cốt và Xa-phôn, miền đất còn lại mà Xi-hôn vua Hết-bôn cai trị nằm về phía đông sông Giô-đanh chạy dài đến cuối hồ Ga-li-lê. ²⁸Các vùng đất nầy được cấp cho các họ hàng thuộc chi tộc Gát, gồm cả các thị trấn và làng mạc.
²⁹Sau đây là đất Mô-se cấp cho chi tộc Ma-na-xe miền đông. Phân nửa các họ hàng thuộc chi tộc Ma-na-xe được cấp vùng đất nầy:
³⁰Đất chạy từ Ma-ha-na-im và gồm toàn vùng Ba-san, vùng đất do Óc, vua của Ba-san cai trị; tất cả các thị trấn ở Giai-rơ thuộc Ba-san gồm tất cả sáu mươi thành; ³¹phân nửa vùng Ghi-lê-át, Ách-ta-rốt và Ết-rê-i là các thành mà Óc, vua của Ba-san đã cai trị. Tất cả vùng đất nầy được cấp cho các họ hàng Ma-kia, con của Ma-na-xe; và phần nửa số con trai ông.
³²Mô-se đã cấp đất nầy cho các chi tộc vừa nói thuộc vùng bình nguyên Mô-áp, đối ngang sông Giô-đanh về phía đông Giê-ri-cô. ³³Nhưng Mô-se không cấp cho chi tộc Lê-vi phần đất nào vì Chúa, là Thượng Đế của Ít-ra-en, hứa rằng chính Ngài sẽ là sản nghiệp của họ.

Remaining Land to Be Conquered

¹Now Joshua ⚓was old, advanced in years. And the Lord said to him: “You are old, advanced in years, and there remains very much land yet to be possessed. ²⚓This is the land that yet remains: ⚓all the territory of the Philistines and all ⚓that of the Geshurites, ³⚓from Sihor, which is east of Egypt, as far as the border of Ekron northward (which is counted as Canaanite); the ⚓five lords of the Philistines—the Gazites, the Ashdodites, the Ashkelonites, the Gittites, and the Ekronites; also ⚓the Avites; ⁴from the south, all the land of the Canaanites, and Mearah that belongs to the Sidonians ⚓as far as Aphek, to the border of ⚓the Amorites; ⁵the land of ⚓the Gebalites, and all Lebanon, toward the sunrise, ⚓from Baal Gad below Mount Hermon as far as the entrance to Hamath; ⁶all the inhabitants of the mountains from Lebanon as far as ⚓the Brook Misrephoth, and all the Sidonians—them ⚓I will drive out from before the children of Israel; only ⚓divide it by lot to Israel as an inheritance, as I have commanded you. ⁷Now therefore, divide this land as an inheritance to the nine tribes and half the tribe of Manasseh.”

The Land Divided East of the Jordan

⁸With the other half-tribe the Reubenites and the Gadites received their inheritance, ⚓which Moses had given them, ⚓beyond the Jordan eastward, as Moses the servant of the Lord had given them: ⁹from Aroer which is on the bank of the River Arnon, and the town that is in the midst of the ravine, ⚓and all the plain of Medeba as far as Dibon; ¹⁰⚓all the cities of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, as far as the border of the children of Ammon; ¹¹⚓Gilead, and the border of the Geshurites and Maachathites, all Mount Hermon, and all Bashan as far as Salcah; ¹²all the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei, who remained of ⚓the remnant of the giants; ⚓for Moses had defeated and cast out these.
¹³Nevertheless the children of Israel ⚓did not drive out the Geshurites or the Maachathites, but the Geshurites and the Maachathites dwell among the Israelites until this day.
¹⁴⚓Only to the tribe of Levi he had given no inheritance; the sacrifices of the Lord God of Israel made by fire are their inheritance, ⚓as He said to them.

The Land of Reuben

¹⁵⚓And Moses had given to the tribe of the children of Reuben an inheritance according to their families. ¹⁶Their territory was ⚓from Aroer, which is on the bank of the River Arnon, ⚓and the city that is in the midst of the ravine, ⚓and all the plain by Medeba; ¹⁷⚓Heshbon and all its cities that are in the plain: Dibon, Bamoth Baal, Beth Baal Meon, ¹⁸⚓Jahaza, Kedemoth, Mephaath, ¹⁹⚓Kirjathaim, ⚓Sibmah, Zereth Shahar on the mountain of the valley, ²⁰Beth Peor, ⚓the slopes of Pisgah, and Beth Jeshimoth— ²¹⚓all the cities of the plain and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, ⚓whom Moses had struck ⚓with the princes of Midian: Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, who were princes of Sihon dwelling in the country. ²²The children of Israel also killed with the sword ⚓Balaam the son of Beor, the soothsayer, among those who were killed by them. ²³And the border of the children of Reuben was the bank of the Jordan. This was the inheritance of the children of Reuben according to their families, the cities and their villages.

The Land of Gad

²⁴⚓Moses also had given an inheritance to the tribe of Gad, to the children of Gad according to their families. ²⁵⚓Their territory was Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead, ⚓and half the land of the Ammonites as far as Aroer, which is before ⚓Rabbah, ²⁶and from Heshbon to Ramath Mizpah and Betonim, and from Mahanaim to the border of Debir, ²⁷and in the valley ⚓Beth Haram, Beth Nimrah, ⚓Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, with the Jordan as its border, as far as the edge ⚓of the Sea of Chinnereth, on the other side of the Jordan eastward. ²⁸This is the inheritance of the children of Gad according to their families, the cities and their villages.

Half the Tribe of Manasseh (East)

²⁹⚓Moses also had given an inheritance to half the tribe of Manasseh; it was for half the tribe of the children of Manasseh according to their families: ³⁰Their territory was from Mahanaim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and ⚓all the towns of Jair which are in Bashan, sixty cities; ³¹half of Gilead, and ⚓Ashtaroth and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, were for the ⚓children of Machir the son of Manasseh, for half of the children of Machir according to their families.
³²These are the areas which Moses had distributed as an inheritance in the plains of Moab on the other side of the Jordan, by Jericho eastward. ³³⚓But to the tribe of Levi Moses had given no inheritance; the Lord God of Israel was their inheritance, ⚓as He had said to them.
