Vấn Đề Lên Án

(Lu 6:37-38, 41-42)

¹“Các con đừng lên án ai để khỏi bị lên án. ²Vì các con lên án người khác thể nào, các con sẽ bị lên án thể ấy. Các con lường cho người ta mực nào, các con sẽ được lường lại mực ấy.
³Tại sao con thấy cái dằm trong mắt anh em, nhưng không nhận ra cây xà nhà trong mắt mình? ⁴Làm sao con có thể nói với anh em mình rằng: ‘Để tôi lấy cái dằm ra khỏi mắt anh,’ trong khi cây xà vẫn ở trong mắt mình. ⁵Hỡi kẻ đạo đức giả, hãy lấy cây xà ra khỏi mắt mình trước, rồi mới thấy rõ để lấy cái dằm ra khỏi mắt anh em mình.
⁶Đừng cho chó vật thánh, chớ ném châu ngọc cho heo, e rằng chúng sẽ giẫm dưới chân và quay lại cắn xé các con.”

(Lu 11:9-13)

⁷“Hãy xin, sẽ được; hãy tìm, sẽ gặp; hãy gõ, cửa sẽ mở cho các con. ⁸Vì ai xin thì được, ai tìm thì gặp và ai gõ, cửa sẽ mở.
⁹Có ai trong vòng các con, khi con mình xin bánh lại cho đá, ¹⁰hay con xin cá, lại cho rắn chăng? ¹¹Nếu các con là người gian ác còn biết cho con cái mình quà tốt, huống chi Cha các con ở trên trời lại không ban điều tốt hơn cho những người cầu xin Ngài sao? ¹²Vậy thì, bất cứ những gì con muốn người ta làm cho mình, hãy làm điều ấy cho họ, vì đó là Kinh Luật và Kinh Tiên Tri.”

¹³“Hãy vào cổng hẹp, vì cổng rộng và đường lớn dẫn đến hủy hoại, nhiều người đi vào đó. ¹⁴Cổng hẹp và đường nhỏ dẫn đến sự sống, chỉ có ít người tìm thấy.”

¹⁵“Hãy đề phòng tiên tri giả là những người đội lốt chiên đến với các con, nhưng bên trong là lang sói tham tàn. ¹⁶Các con nhận biết người ta nhờ hoa quả của họ. Không ai hái nho nơi bụi gai hay hái vả nơi bụi chà chôm. ¹⁷Cũng vậy, cây lành sinh quả lành, cây độc sinh quả độc. ¹⁸Cây lành không thể sinh quả độc, cây độc cũng không sinh quả lành. ¹⁹Cây nào không sinh quả lành sẽ bị đốn và ném vào lửa. ²⁰Thế thì, các con nhận biết người ta là nhờ quả của họ.”

Chúa Biết Rõ

²¹“Không phải hễ ai nói với Ta: ‘Lạy Chúa, lạy Chúa’ đều sẽ vào Nước Thiên Đàng đâu, nhưng chỉ những người làm theo ý muốn của Cha Ta ở trên trời. ²²Vào ngày ấy, nhiều người sẽ nói với Ta rằng: ‘Lạy Chúa, lạy Chúa, chúng con đã nhân danh Ngài nói tiên tri, nhân danh Ngài trừ quỷ, nhân danh Ngài làm nhiều phép lạ.’ ²³Nhưng Ta sẽ phán cùng họ rằng: ‘Ta không biết các người, hỡi những kẻ gian ác, hãy lui ra khỏi Ta!’ ”

Hai Nền Tảng

(Lu 6:47-49)

²⁴“Vậy, ai nghe lời Ta dạy và làm theo, sẽ giống như một người khôn ngoan xây nhà mình trên nền đá. ²⁵Khi mưa đổ xuống, nước lụt⚓ dâng lên, cuồng phong ập đến, nhà ấy không sụp đổ vì đã được xây trên nền đá. ²⁶Còn ai nghe lời Ta dạy, nhưng không làm theo thì giống như một người ngu dại xây nhà mình trên cát. ²⁷Khi mưa đổ xuống, nước lụt dâng lên, cuồng phong ập đến, thì nhà ấy sụp đổ, hư hại nặng nề.”
²⁸Khi Đức Giê-su dứt lời, đoàn dân đông vô cùng ngạc nhiên về sự dạy dỗ của Ngài, ²⁹vì Ngài dạy dỗ đầy quyền uy chứ không như các chuyên gia kinh luật của họ.

Judging Others

¹“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. ²For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
³“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? ⁴How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? ⁵You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
⁶“Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.

Ask, Seek, Knock

⁷“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. ⁸For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
⁹“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? ¹⁰Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? ¹¹If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! ¹²So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

The Narrow and Wide Gates

¹³“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. ¹⁴But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

True and False Prophets

¹⁵“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. ¹⁶By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? ¹⁷Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. ¹⁸A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. ¹⁹Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. ²⁰Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

True and False Disciples

²¹“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. ²²Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ ²³Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

The Wise and Foolish Builders

²⁴“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. ²⁵The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. ²⁶But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. ²⁷The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
²⁸When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, ²⁹because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.
