Thượng Đế và dân Ít-ra-en kết ước
1CHÚA bảo Mô-se, “Ngươi, A-rôn, Na-đáp, A-bi-hu, và 70 bô lão của Ít-ra-en phải lên gặp ta, và đứng xa xa thờ lạy ta.
2Rồi chỉ một mình Mô-se sẽ đến gần ta; những người khác không được lại gần. Còn dân chúng không được phép lên núi với Mô-se.”
3Mô-se thuật lại cho dân chúng mọi lời của CHÚA cùng những luật lệ về cách sống. Rồi toàn thể dân chúng đồng thanh đáp lớn, “Chúng tôi sẽ làm theo mọi điều CHÚA dặn.”
4Mô-se liền ghi lại mọi lời của CHÚA. Sáng hôm sau ông dậy sớm và xây một bàn thờ gần chân núi. Ông dựng mười hai tảng đá, mỗi tảng đại diện cho một trong mười hai chi tộc Ít-ra-en.
5Sau đó Mô-se phái các thanh niên Ít-ra-en đi dâng của lễ toàn thiêu và dâng các bò đực làm của lễ thân hữu cho CHÚA.
6Mô-se đựng phân nửa số huyết của các con vật đó trong các chén bát, và rưới phần nửa số huyết kia lên bàn thờ⚓.
7Rồi ông lấy sách Giao Ước ra đọc cho dân chúng nghe. Ông nói, “Chúng ta sẽ làm theo mọi điều CHÚA phán; chúng ta sẽ vâng theo.”
8Sau đó Mô-se lấy huyết từ trong các chén bát rưới lên dân chúng và nói, “Đây là huyết khởi đầu Giao Ước, Giao Ước mà CHÚA đã lập với đồng bào về những lời nầy.”
9Mô-se, A-rôn, Na-đáp, A-bi-hu và bảy mươi bô lão Ít-ra-en đi lên núi
10và nhìn thấy Thượng Đế của Ít-ra-en. Dưới chân Ngài có một mặt phẳng giống như tráng bằng bích ngọc và trong như bầu trời!
11Các lãnh tụ nầy của Ít-ra-en nhìn thấy Thượng Đế nhưng Ngài không tiêu diệt họ⚓. Họ ăn uống chung với nhau.
Mô-se nhận bảng Luật pháp
từ Thượng Đế
12CHÚA bảo Mô-se, “Hãy lên núi gặp ta. Hãy chờ đó rồi ta sẽ cho ngươi hai bảng đá. Trên các bảng đó có ghi những lời giáo huấn và mệnh lệnh ta viết để dạy dân chúng.”
13Vậy Mô-se và phụ tá Giô-suê ra đi. Mô-se đi lên núi Si-nai, tức núi của Thượng Đế.
14Mô-se bảo các bô lão, “Hãy chờ đây cho đến khi tôi trở về cùng các ngươi. A-rôn và Hu-rơ sẽ ở với các ngươi, nên nếu ai có bất hoà gì với nhau thì nhờ họ giải quyết.”
Mô-se gặp Thượng Đế
15Khi Mô-se lên núi thì cả núi bị mây phủ.
16Sự vinh quang của Thượng Đế ngự xuống trên núi Si-nai, cả núi bị mây phủ trong sáu ngày. Đến ngày thứ bảy CHÚA gọi Mô-se từ trong đám mây.
17Người Ít-ra-en nhìn thấy vinh quang của CHÚA giống như lửa cháy trên đỉnh núi.
18Rồi Mô-se đi vào trong mây và đi lên núi. Ông ở trên núi bốn mươi ngày bốn mươi đêm.

Israel Affirms the Covenant
1Now He said to Moses, “Come up to the Lord, you and Aaron, ⚓Nadab and Abihu, ⚓and seventy of the elders of Israel, and worship from afar.
2And Moses alone shall come near the Lord, but they shall not come near; nor shall the people go up with him.”
3So Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord and all the judgments. And all the people answered with one voice and said, ⚓“All the words which the Lord has said we will do.”
4And Moses ⚓wrote all the words of the Lord. And he rose early in the morning, and built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve ⚓pillars according to the twelve tribes of Israel.
5Then he sent young men of the children of Israel, who offered ⚓burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen to the Lord.
6And Moses ⚓took half the blood and put it in basins, and half the blood he sprinkled on the altar.
7Then he ⚓took the Book of the Covenant and read in the hearing of the people. And they said, “All that the Lord has said we will do, and be obedient.”
8And Moses took the blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said, “This is ⚓the blood of the covenant which the Lord has made with you according to all these words.”
On the Mountain with God
9Then Moses went up, also Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel,
10and they ⚓saw the God of Israel. And there was under His feet as it were a paved work of ⚓sapphire stone, and it was like the ⚓very heavens in its clarity.
11But on the nobles of the children of Israel He ⚓did not lay His hand. So ⚓they saw God, and they ⚓ate and drank.
12Then the Lord said to Moses, ⚓“Come up to Me on the mountain and be there; and I will give you ⚓tablets of stone, and the law and commandments which I have written, that you may teach them.”
13So Moses arose with ⚓his assistant Joshua, and Moses went up to the mountain of God.
14And he said to the elders, “Wait here for us until we come back to you. Indeed, Aaron and ⚓Hur are with you. If any man has a difficulty, let him go to them.”
15Then Moses went up into the mountain, and ⚓a cloud covered the mountain.
16Now ⚓the glory of the Lord rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And on the seventh day He called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud.
17The sight of the glory of the Lordwas like ⚓a consuming fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Israel.
18So Moses went into the midst of the cloud and went up into the mountain. And ⚓Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.
