¹“Toâq anhia loŏh chíl cũai ca par‑ũal anhia, ma anhia hữm alới bữn máh aséh cớp sễ aséh rachíl, dếh bữn tahan clứng hỡn tễ anhia, anhia chỗi ngcŏh alới; yuaq Yiang Sursĩ, Ncháu anhia, án ca khoiq dững aloŏh anhia tễ cruang Ê-yip-tô, án lứq ỡt cớp anhia. ²Nhũang anhia ễ loŏh rachíl, cóq anhia yỗn cũai tễng rit sang Yiang Sursĩ toâq tayứng yáng moat tỗp tahan cớp pai neq: ³‘Cũai I-sarel ơi! Cóq anhia tamứng yỗn samoât! Tâng tangái nâi anhia ễ loŏh chíl. Chỗi croŏq, chỗi ngcŏh, cớp chỗi cahĩal; ⁴yuaq Yiang Sursĩ, Ncháu anhia, ỡt níc cớp anhia, cớp yỗn anhia chíl riap.’
⁵“Chơ máh cũai sốt tahan ễn cóq pai neq: ‘Khân bữn cũai aléq tễ tỗp anhia mbỡiq chóh dống tamái, ma tỡ yũah táq rit chiau sang dống ki, cóq án píh chu loah pỡ dống án voai. Cŏh lơ án cuchĩt tâng ntốq rachíl, chơ cũai canŏ́h ễn pláih án táq rit chiau sang dống. ⁶Khân bữn cũai aléq tễ tỗp anhia ca mbỡiq chóh voar nho, ma tỡ yũah bữn cha palâi, cóq án píh chu loah pỡ dống án. Cŏh lơ án cuchĩt tâng ntốq rachíl, chơ cũai canŏ́h ễn pláih án bữn nguaiq blŏ́ng nho. ⁷Khân bữn cũai aléq tâng ntốq nâi khoiq dŏq voan cumũr, cớp pai ễ racoâiq cớp mansễm ki, cóq án píh chu loah pỡ dống án. Cŏh lơ án cuchĩt tâng ntốq rachíl la bữn, chơ samiang canŏ́h ễn racoâiq cớp mansễm ca án khoiq dŏq voan.’
⁸“Chơ cũai sốt tahan pai tữm ễn chóq máh tỗp tahan neq: ‘Khân bữn cũai aléq tâng ntốq nâi ma croŏq cớp ngcŏh, cóq án píh chu loah pỡ dống án. Cŏh lơ án táq yỗn yớu cỡt ngcŏh machớng án tê.’ ⁹Toâq cũai sốt tahan pai moâm, cóq alới rưoh cũai sốt tâng tỗp dŏq ayông máh tahan pỡq chíl.
¹⁰“Toâq anhia mut chíl vil aléq, nhũang lứq anhia cóq atỡng ŏ́c ratoi voai yỗn cũai tâng vil ki. ¹¹Khân alới pai yoc ỡt ratoi cớp pớh ngoah toong viang vil yỗn anhia mut, cóq anhia cỗp nheq tữh cũai ki dŏq alới cỡt sũl cớp táq ranáq yỗn anhia. ¹²Ma khân cũai tâng vil ki tỡ bữn pruam ỡt ratoi, cớp alới loŏh chíl anhia, cóq anhia ớn tahan ỡt lavíng chũop nheq vil ki. ¹³Moâm ki, Yiang Sursĩ, la Ncháu anhia, ễ chiau vil ki tâng talang atĩ anhia; ma cóq anhia cachĩt táh nheq tữh cũai samiang toâq pla dau. ¹⁴Ma máh cũai mansễm, carnễn, charán, cớp máh crơng crớu tâng vil ki, têq anhia ĩt ndỡm. Anhia têq tâc cha dũ ramứh mun alới, yuaq Yiang Sursĩ khoiq chiau yỗn anhia. ¹⁵Cóq anhia táq machớng nâi chóq máh vil ca ỡt yơng tễ cruang cutễq anhia mbỡiq ỡt.
¹⁶“Ma toâq anhia cheng bữn máh vil tâng cutễq ca Yiang Sursĩ, Ncháu anhia, ntôm ễ chiau yỗn cỡt mun anhia, cóq anhia cachĩt táh dũ ramứh tamoong. ¹⁷Cóq anhia pupứt nheq tữh cũai ca Yiang Sursĩ khoiq ớn chơ, la neq: Tỗp Hêt, Amô-rit, Cana-an, Pê-rasit, Hê-vit, cớp Yê-but. ¹⁸Cóq anhia cachĩt táh nheq tỗp nâi; khân anhia tỡ bữn cachĩt alới, cŏh lơ alới arĩen anhia táq ranáq nhơp apỗ luat ngư toâq alới cucốh sang yiang alới, chơ anhia tũoiq alới; ngkíq anhia táq lôih chóq Yiang Sursĩ, la Ncháu anhia.
¹⁹“Toâq anhia sarbữn ễ cheng ĩt vil aléq, tam anhia ỡt lavíng vil ki dũn tỡ la tỡ bữn dũn, ma anhia chỗi poâiq nỡm aluang ca têq cha palâi. Têq anhia ĩt cha palâi tễ aluang ki, ma chỗi poâiq táh, yuaq aluang ki tỡ bữn par‑ũal ntrớu cớp anhia. ²⁰Anhia têq poâiq aluang ca tỡ bữn têq cha palâi, chơ ĩt aluang ki táq crơng dŏq rachuai yỗn anhia têq rachíl riap.

Going to War

¹When you go to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army greater than yours, do not be afraid of them, because the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt, will be with you. ²When you are about to go into battle, the priest shall come forward and address the army. ³He shall say: “Hear, Israel: Today you are going into battle against your enemies. Do not be fainthearted or afraid; do not panic or be terrified by them. ⁴For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”
⁵The officers shall say to the army: “Has anyone built a new house and not yet begun to live in it? Let him go home, or he may die in battle and someone else may begin to live in it. ⁶Has anyone planted a vineyard and not begun to enjoy it? Let him go home, or he may die in battle and someone else enjoy it. ⁷Has anyone become pledged to a woman and not married her? Let him go home, or he may die in battle and someone else marry her.” ⁸Then the officers shall add, “Is anyone afraid or fainthearted? Let him go home so that his fellow soldiers will not become disheartened too.” ⁹When the officers have finished speaking to the army, they shall appoint commanders over it.
¹⁰When you march up to attack a city, make its people an offer of peace. ¹¹If they accept and open their gates, all the people in it shall be subject to forced labor and shall work for you. ¹²If they refuse to make peace and they engage you in battle, lay siege to that city. ¹³When the Lord your God delivers it into your hand, put to the sword all the men in it. ¹⁴As for the women, the children, the livestock and everything else in the city, you may take these as plunder for yourselves. And you may use the plunder the Lord your God gives you from your enemies. ¹⁵This is how you are to treat all the cities that are at a distance from you and do not belong to the nations nearby.
¹⁶However, in the cities of the nations the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. ¹⁷Completely destroy⚓ them—the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites—as the Lord your God has commanded you. ¹⁸Otherwise, they will teach you to follow all the detestable things they do in worshiping their gods, and you will sin against the Lord your God.
¹⁹When you lay siege to a city for a long time, fighting against it to capture it, do not destroy its trees by putting an ax to them, because you can eat their fruit. Do not cut them down. Are the trees people, that you should besiege them?⚓ ²⁰However, you may cut down trees that you know are not fruit trees and use them to build siege works until the city at war with you falls.
