Giô-na cầu nguyện
1Từ trong bụng cá, Giô-na cầu nguyện với Chúa Hằng Hữu, Chân Thần của mình:
2Trong cơn hoạn nạn, con kêu cầu Chúa Hằng Hữu, thì Ngài đáp lời từ lòng Âm phủ, con kêu cứu, thì Chúa nghe tiếng con.
3Vì Chúa ném con trong vực sâu dưới đáy biển, dòng hải lưu bao bọc lấy con. Bao nhiêu lượn sóng lớn và ba đào của Chứa đều ầm ầm kéo qua trên đầu con.
4Khi ấy, con thưa: "Con đã bị ném khỏi mặt Ngài, dù vậy, con vẫn nhìn lại Đền thánh Ngài.
5Nước bao phủ cả thân thể lẫn linh hồn, vực sâu bao bọc chung quanh. Rong rêu vương vấn đầu con.
6Con đã xuống tận đáy các hòn núi. Đất đã khóa cửa⚓ nhốt con vĩnh viễn. Lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu Chân Thần, Chúa đã đem mạng sống con ra khỏi huyệt mộ.
7Khi con tuyệt vọng,⚓ con liền nhớ Chúa và lời cầu nguyện con lên thấu Ngài, trong Đền Thánh Ngài.
8Nhưng kẻ thờ lạy thần tượng hão huyền xây lưng từ khước lòng thương xót Chúa dành cho mình.
9Nhưng con sẽ dâng lời cảm tạ, dâng sinh tế cho Ngài và trả xong điều con hứa nguyện. Sự giải cứu chỉ đến từ Chúa Hằng Hữu!
10Chúa ra lệnh cho con cá nhả Giô-na trên bờ biển. Nó liền vâng lời.

1Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the fish’s belly.
2And he said:
“I ⚓cried out to the Lord because of my affliction,
⚓And He answered me.
“Out of the belly of Sheol I cried,
And You heard my voice.
3⚓For You cast me into the deep,
Into the heart of the seas,
And the floods surrounded me;
⚓All Your billows and Your waves passed over me.
4⚓Then I said, ‘I have been cast out of Your sight;
Yet I will look again ⚓toward Your holy temple.’
5The ⚓waters surrounded me, even to my soul;
The deep closed around me;
Weeds were wrapped around my head.
6I went down to the moorings of the mountains;
The earth with its bars closed behind me forever;
Yet You have brought up my ⚓life from the pit,
O Lord, my God.
7“When my soul fainted within me,
I remembered the Lord;
⚓And my prayer went up to You,
Into Your holy temple.
8“Those who regard ⚓worthless idols
Forsake their own Mercy.
9But I will ⚓sacrifice to You
With the voice of thanksgiving;
I will pay what I have ⚓vowed.
⚓Salvation is of the ⚓Lord.”
10So the Lord spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.
