Ba-by-luân xâm lăng
1Lúc ấy, Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa vua Ba-by-luân đem quân đến đánh Giu-đa. Sau ba năm chịu thần phục, Giê-hô-gia-kim nổi lên chống lại Ba-by-luân.
2Chúa khiến các nước Canh-đê, Sy-ri, Mô-áp và Am-môn đem quân đến tàn phá Giu-đa theo lời Ngài đã dùng các tiên tri, tôi tớ Ngài phán trước.
3Hiển nhiên việc Giu-đa gặp tai họa là do Chúa xếp đặt. Ngài muốn đuổi họ đi khỏi mặt Ngài, vì tội lỗi ngập trời của Ma-na-se,
4người đã làm cho Giê-ru-sa-lem đầy dẫy máu vô tội, đến độ Chúa không dung thứ được nữa.
5Tất cả các công việc của Giê-hô-gia-kim đều được chép trong sách lịch sử các vua Giu-đa.
6Giê-hô-gia-kim an giấc với tổ tiên, và Giê-hô-gia-kin con vua lên kế vị.
Giê-hô-gia-kin
7Từ khi vua Ba-by-luân chiếm cả vùng từ suối Ai-cập cho đến sông Phát-giang là vùng trước kia thuộc Ai-cập, vua Ai-cập không còn lai vãng đến đất Giu-đa nữa.
8Giê-hô-gia-kin được mười tám tuổi lúc lên ngôi, cai trị ba tháng tại Giê-ru-sa-lem. Mẹ vua là Nê-hu-ta, con Ên-na-than ở Giê-ru-sa-lem.
9Vua làm điều ác trước mặt Chúa, như các vua đời trước.
10Khi quân Ba-by-luân kéo đến vây Giê-ru-sa-lem
11,12do Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa, vua Ba-by-luân đích thân chỉ huy. Giê-hô-gia-kin đem mẹ, tôi tớ, hoàng tộc, và các thái giám ra đầu hàng. Vua Ba-by-luân bắt Giê-hô-gia-kin sau khi lên ngôi được tám năm.
13Người Ba-by-luân chở về nước tất cả bảo vật của Đền thờ, và hoàng cung. Họ bóc hết vàng bọc các dụng cụ trong Đền thờ từ đời Sa-lô-môn. Những việc này xảy ra đúng như lời Chúa phán trước.
14-16Họ bắt mười ngàn người ở Giê-ru-sa-lem đem về Ba-by-luân. Giê-hô-gia-kin cũng bị bắt đi cùng với thái hậu, hoàng hậu và các thái giám và hoàng tộc. Trong số mười ngàn này, có bảy ngàn lính thiện chiến và một ngàn thợ đủ loại, kể cả thợ rèn. Họ chỉ để những người nghèo khổ ở lại.
17Vua Ba-by-luân đặt Ma-tha-nia, chú của Giê-hô-gia-kin, lên làm vua và đổi tên là Sê-đê-kia.
18Sê-đê-kia được mười tám tuổi lúc lên ngôi và cai trị mười một năm tại Giê-ru-sa-lem. Mẹ vua là Ha-mu-ta con của Giê-rê-mi ở Líp-na.
19Vua làm điều ác trước mặt Chúa như Giê-hô-gia-kin đã làm.
20Như thế, Chúa giận người Giu-đa và dân thành Giê-ru-sa-lem đến độ phải đuổi họ đi khỏi mặt Ngài. Sau đó, Sê-đê-kia nổi lên chống Ba-by-luân.

Jehoiakim King of Judah
1During Jehoiakim’s reign, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon invaded the land, and Jehoiakim became his vassal for three years. But then he turned against Nebuchadnezzar and rebelled.
2The Lord sent Babylonian,⚓ Aramean, Moabite and Ammonite raiders against him to destroy Judah, in accordance with the word of the Lord proclaimed by his servants the prophets.
3Surely these things happened to Judah according to the Lord’s command, in order to remove them from his presence because of the sins of Manasseh and all he had done,
4including the shedding of innocent blood. For he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the Lord was not willing to forgive.
5As for the other events of Jehoiakim’s reign, and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah?
6Jehoiakim rested with his ancestors. And Jehoiachin his son succeeded him as king.
7The king of Egypt did not march out from his own country again, because the king of Babylon had taken all his territory, from the Wadi of Egypt to the Euphrates River.
Jehoiachin King of Judah
8Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. His mother’s name was Nehushta daughter of Elnathan; she was from Jerusalem.
9He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father had done.
10At that time the officers of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon advanced on Jerusalem and laid siege to it,
11and Nebuchadnezzar himself came up to the city while his officers were besieging it.
12Jehoiachin king of Judah, his mother, his attendants, his nobles and his officials all surrendered to him.
In the eighth year of the reign of the king of Babylon, he took Jehoiachin prisoner.
13As the Lord had declared, Nebuchadnezzar removed the treasures from the temple of the Lord and from the royal palace, and cut up the gold articles that Solomon king of Israel had made for the temple of the Lord.
14He carried all Jerusalem into exile: all the officers and fighting men, and all the skilled workers and artisans—a total of ten thousand. Only the poorest people of the land were left.
15Nebuchadnezzar took Jehoiachin captive to Babylon. He also took from Jerusalem to Babylon the king’s mother, his wives, his officials and the prominent people of the land.
16The king of Babylon also deported to Babylon the entire force of seven thousand fighting men, strong and fit for war, and a thousand skilled workers and artisans.
17He made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin’s uncle, king in his place and changed his name to Zedekiah.
Zedekiah King of Judah
18Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years. His mother’s name was Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah; she was from Libnah.
19He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, just as Jehoiakim had done.
20It was because of the Lord’s anger that all this happened to Jerusalem and Judah, and in the end he thrust them from his presence.
Now Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
