QUYỂN THỨ NĂM

¹Hãy cảm tạ Chúa Hằng Hữu,
Vì Ngài thiện hảo và thương xót đời đời
²Những người được Chúa cứu chuộc,
Giải phóng khỏi bàn tay thù nghịch,
Hãy nói lên ân đức của Ngài!
³Hãy triệu tập họ từ các nước,
Đông, tây, nam, bắc, khắp địa cầu.
⁴Họ lưu lạc giữa sa mạc hoang vu
Tìm mỏi mắt không ra nơi trú ẩn,⚓Ctd thành phố ở được
⁵Đói khát, kiệt quệ và ngất xỉu.
⁶Lúc khủng hoảng, họ gọi: "Chúa ơi!"
Ngài liền cứu họ tai qua nạn khỏi,
⁷Dẫn họ vào nơi an cư lạc nghiệp.⚓
⁸Con người phải biết ca ngợi Chúa,
Vì lòng nhân từ và kỳ công Ngài.⚓
⁹Chúa thỏa mãn tâm hồn khao khát,
Cho lòng đói được no nê mãn nguyện.
¹⁰Họ đang ngồi trong bóng tối tử vong
Bị xiềng xích gông cùm tuyệt vọng.
¹¹Họ từng nổi loạn chống đối Lời Chúa,
Khinh miệt mưu cao Đấng Chí Tôn,
¹²Nên Ngài dùng gian khổ hạ nhục tâm hồn
Và họ gục ngã, không người giúp đỡ.
¹³Lúc khủng hoảng, họ gọi: "Chúa ơi!"
Ngài liền cứu họ tai qua nạn khỏi,
¹⁴Đem họ thoát vùng bóng tối tử vong,
Và đập tan xiềng xích gông cùm.
¹⁵Những người ấy hãy ca ngợi Chúa
Vì lòng nhân từ và kỳ công Ngài⚓
¹⁶Vì Ngài bẻ gông cùm, xiềng xích
Và cắt đứt song đồng ngục tối.
¹⁷Người dại dột theo đường tà vạy,
Gặp hoạn nạn, khốn khổ vì ác gian,
¹⁸Miệng đắng nghét, không thiết gì ăn uống,
Run lẩy bẩy bước vào ngạch cửa Tử vong.
¹⁹Lúc hiểm nghèo, họ gọi: "Chúa ơi!"
Chúa liền cứu họ thoát tay Tử thần.
²⁰Ngài ra lệnh chữa lành bệnh tật,
Rút họ khỏi vòm cửa mộ âm u.⚓
²¹Những người ấy hãy ca tụng Chúa,
Vì lòng nhân từ và kỳ công Ngài.
²²Họ hãy dâng tế lễ cảm tạ,
Hát ca, tường thuật việc Ngài làm.
²³Nào những ai xuống tàu vượt biển,
Chí doanh thương xuôi ngược đại dương,
²⁴Hải trình xem lắm việc dị thường
Do tay Chân Chúa cầm cương an bài.
²⁵Ngài truyền lệnh nổi cơn gió bão,
Cho biển sâu sôi động cuồng lan
²⁶Nâng tàu lên chốn trời xanh
Rồi chìm đáy vực tan tành như không,
Làm ai nấy hồn tan ra nước,
²⁷Như người say quay cuồng lảo đảo,
Hết kế rồi, đành chết đây thôi!
²⁸Lúc nguy nan, kêu cầu Thượng Đế,
Ngài đưa tay cứu khỏi tai ương!
²⁹Ban lệnh trên gió nước đại dương,
Cho yên bão lớn, cho ngừng sóng to.
³⁰Xong rồi, nạn khỏi tai qua,
Hân hoan về đến bến bờ ước mong.
³¹Khá cảm tạ Chúa nhân từ thương xót,
Làm muôn việc lạ cứu nhân dân.
³²Giữa đại hội cùng suy tôn Chúa,
Trước quốc dân⚓ ca hát ngợi khen.
³³Chúa biến sông xanh thành sa mạc,
Suối tươi mát ra đất khô khan.
³⁴Do lòng gian dối của cư dân,
Vườn ruộng phì nhiêu thành bãi mặn;
³⁵Nhưng, sa mạc hóa ra hồ ao,
Đất khô tuôn dòng suối ngọt ngào
³⁶Cho dân nghèo đến ở,
Lập thành phố chợ
³⁷Quanh năm gieo trồng,
Nho, lúa trổ bông,
Mùa màng gặt hái.
³⁸Chúa nhân từ ban phúc
Cho dân số gia tăng
Súc vật vô vàn.
³⁹Còn bao kẻ khác,
Héo hắt nghèo nàn,
Tai ương, buồn bực,
Bị áp bức, bạo hành.
⁴⁰Chúa khinh kẻ quyền quý kiêu căng,
Cho đói khổ lang thang,
Không tìm ra sinh lộ.
⁴¹Nhưng Ngài giải cứu người nghèo khổ
Khỏi hoạn nạn tai ương,
Cho con cháu thêm đông,
Hanh thông và thịnh vượng.
⁴²Thấy thế, người công chính vui mừng,
Nhưng bọn ác nhân câm họng.
⁴³Ghi nhận việc này! người khôn ngoan!
Để hiểu rõ lòng Chúa chí nhân.

Psalms 107–150

¹Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.

²Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story—
those he redeemed from the hand of the foe,
³those he gathered from the lands,
from east and west, from north and south.⚓

⁴Some wandered in desert wastelands,
finding no way to a city where they could settle.
⁵They were hungry and thirsty,
and their lives ebbed away.
⁶Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
⁷He led them by a straight way
to a city where they could settle.
⁸Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
and his wonderful deeds for mankind,
⁹for he satisfies the thirsty
and fills the hungry with good things.

¹⁰Some sat in darkness, in utter darkness,
prisoners suffering in iron chains,
¹¹because they rebelled against God’s commands
and despised the plans of the Most High.
¹²So he subjected them to bitter labor;
they stumbled, and there was no one to help.
¹³Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he saved them from their distress.
¹⁴He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness,
and broke away their chains.
¹⁵Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
and his wonderful deeds for mankind,
¹⁶for he breaks down gates of bronze
and cuts through bars of iron.

¹⁷Some became fools through their rebellious ways
and suffered affliction because of their iniquities.
¹⁸They loathed all food
and drew near the gates of death.
¹⁹Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he saved them from their distress.
²⁰He sent out his word and healed them;
he rescued them from the grave.
²¹Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
and his wonderful deeds for mankind.
²²Let them sacrifice thank offerings
and tell of his works with songs of joy.

²³Some went out on the sea in ships;
they were merchants on the mighty waters.
²⁴They saw the works of the Lord,
his wonderful deeds in the deep.
²⁵For he spoke and stirred up a tempest
that lifted high the waves.
²⁶They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths;
in their peril their courage melted away.
²⁷They reeled and staggered like drunkards;
they were at their wits’ end.
²⁸Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
and he brought them out of their distress.
²⁹He stilled the storm to a whisper;
the waves of the sea⚓ were hushed.
³⁰They were glad when it grew calm,
and he guided them to their desired haven.
³¹Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
and his wonderful deeds for mankind.
³²Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people
and praise him in the council of the elders.

³³He turned rivers into a desert,
flowing springs into thirsty ground,
³⁴and fruitful land into a salt waste,
because of the wickedness of those who lived there.
³⁵He turned the desert into pools of water
and the parched ground into flowing springs;
³⁶there he brought the hungry to live,
and they founded a city where they could settle.
³⁷They sowed fields and planted vineyards
that yielded a fruitful harvest;
³⁸he blessed them, and their numbers greatly increased,
and he did not let their herds diminish.

³⁹Then their numbers decreased, and they were humbled
by oppression, calamity and sorrow;
⁴⁰he who pours contempt on nobles
made them wander in a trackless waste.
⁴¹But he lifted the needy out of their affliction
and increased their families like flocks.
⁴²The upright see and rejoice,
but all the wicked shut their mouths.

⁴³Let the one who is wise heed these things
and ponder the loving deeds of the Lord.
