¹Binh đát, người Su-a trả lời:
²Anh lải nhải cho đến khi nào
Đến bao giờ anh mới thôi khoác lác?
³Có khi nào Chúa bẻ cong chân lý
Hay là Ngài chấp thuận cảnh bất công?
⁴Nếu con cái anh sai lầm phạm tội,
Và bị Ngài hình phạt cách công minh,
⁵Nếu anh quyết tâm tìm kiếm Chúa
Và cầu nguyện với Đấng Toàn năng
⁶Nếu anh trong sạch ngay lành
Hẳn Chúa nghe lời anh nguyện cầu
Cho gia đình hưng thịnh
⁷Dù mới đầu chẳng có bao nhiêu,
Nhưng về sau sẽ gia tăng gấp bội.
⁸Xin tra cứu lịch sử,
Học hỏi với người xưa,
⁹Chúng ta mới ra đời
Hiểu biết còn nông cạn
Đời người lại ngắn ngủi.
¹⁰Khôn ngoan người xưa dạy dỗ ta
Rèn luyện ta kinh nghiệm tiền nhân.
¹¹Không bùn lầy, lau lách làm sao lớn?
Không nước nôi, cây sậy chẳng trổ bông
¹²Đang xanh tươi, chưa bị người cắt bỏ
Đã héo khô trước mọi loài hoa cỏ.
¹³Người bỏ Thượng Đế rồi cũng thế
Bao hy vọng của họ đều tiêu ma
¹⁴Như đặt niềm tin vào váng nhện,
Chỉ đem lại rã rời tan nát.
¹⁵Người tựa vào nhà; nhà không vững.
Dù bám víu chặt, cũng chẳng còn.
¹⁶Như cây xanh tốt trong nắng ấm,
Cành lá sum sê phủ cả vườn;
¹⁷Rễ cây ăn sâu vào mạch nước,
Bám chặt vầng đá, len lỏi nằm.
¹⁸Nhưng khi cây bị tiêu diệt
Chẳng một ai thèm nhớ tiếc.
¹⁹Đó là luật chung của muôn loài,
Chết cây này, cây khác mọc lên.
²⁰Nhưng, Thượng Đế chẳng bỏ người ngay lành,
Cũng không giúp ác nhân thịnh vượng.
²¹Chúa sẽ cho miệng anh dầy tiếng cười
Và môi anh tuôn tràn suối reo vui.
²²Người ghét anh sẽ hổ thẹn cúi đầu,
Kẻ gian ác không còn nơi nương tựa.

Bildad: Job Should Repent

¹Then Bildad the Shuhite answered and said:
²“How long will you speak these things,
And the words of your mouth be like a strong wind?
³⚓Does God subvert judgment?
Or does the Almighty pervert justice?
⁴If ⚓your sons have sinned against Him,
He has cast them away for their transgression.
⁵⚓If you would earnestly seek God
And make your supplication to the Almighty,
⁶If you were pure and upright,
Surely now He would awake for you,
And prosper your rightful dwelling place.
⁷Though your beginning was small,
Yet your latter end would ⚓increase abundantly.
⁸“For⚓ inquire, please, of the former age,
And consider the things discovered by their fathers;
⁹For ⚓we were born yesterday, and know nothing,
Because our days on earth are a shadow.
¹⁰Will they not teach you and tell you,
And utter words from their heart?
¹¹“Can the papyrus grow up without a marsh?
Can the reeds flourish without water?
¹²⚓While it is yet green and not cut down,
It withers before any other plant.
¹³So are the paths of all who ⚓forget God;
And the hope of the ⚓hypocrite shall perish,
¹⁴Whose confidence shall be cut off,
And whose trust is a spider’s web.
¹⁵⚓He leans on his house, but it does not stand.
He holds it fast, but it does not endure.
¹⁶He grows green in the sun,
And his branches spread out in his garden.
¹⁷His roots wrap around the rock heap,
And look for a place in the stones.
¹⁸⚓If he is destroyed from his place,
Then it will deny him, saying, ‘I have not seen you.’
¹⁹“Behold, this is the joy of His way,
And ⚓out of the earth others will grow.
²⁰Behold, ⚓God will not cast away the blameless,
Nor will He uphold the evildoers.
²¹He will yet fill your mouth with laughing,
And your lips with rejoicing.
²²Those who hate you will be ⚓clothed with shame,
And the dwelling place of the wicked will come to nothing.”
